The owner and a neighbor were fixing the home up to make look better and be more secure.
The owner left and came back to the home around 8 p.m. Wednesday night and that was when he caught the alleged burglar.
“The occupant confronted the burglary and at some point, there was a confrontation,” said MSgt. Gary Knight, Oklahoma City Police Department. “The resident ended up shooting and ultimately killing the burglar.”
And the neighbors were not shocked. (Oklahoma being neither California nor New Jersey.)
Neighbors said it was tragic a person died but they believed the owner was justified in shooting the intruder.
“He had all rights to be there anytime he wants to,” said Jacobs. “If somebody breaks in over there he has a right to defend himself.”
Self-defense is a Human-right, and Oklahoma has this thing called the "Make My Day" law.
It should be noted that “make my day” laws DO NOT allow for you to walk into a place of business and shoot multiple people just because your coffee has sugar in it.

So the governors of New York and Michigan and wherever sent infected people to nursing homes causing extra deaths, and then they isolated people from their families, causing even more deaths. Is there anything they missed?
The effort to shield elderly, frail and disabled residents from the coronavirus has created another wrenching health crisis: The confinement meant to protect the most vulnerable is also threatening their lives.
“The isolation is robbing them of whatever good days they have left — it accelerates the aging process,” Joshua Uy, associate professor at the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine, said.
There aren't that many deaths listed as due to isolation, but that is, in part, because there is more emphasis on COVID-19, but it apparently clear that the lockdown is having a detrimental effect on peoples' lives. (Hat tip)

So Is this a Win for the Post or a Loss for Twitter?
I think it still means that we are hosed vis-à-vis Big Tech and Free Speech. After 16 Days of Censorship, Twitter Unlocks the New York Post’s Account
Not that this means Twitter is now an honest company — they’re not — but this is a tacit admission of their dishonesty, and I suppose that after the election we’ll learn that Twitter’s censorship was ordered by the executives at behest of the Biden campaign.
Actually I think we will eventually learn that Twitter execs and Twitter employees don't believe in the USA, in Free Speech, or in Democracy, and that they did all of this because they feel like the Ends Justify the Means. It is what Communists always tell themselves as they are standing over the bodies of millions of people who disagreed with them.

Last I checked, City-Journal was NOT part of the Vast Right Wing Consipriacy. Anarchy in New York?
It’s true that New York City wouldn’t be confused for Tegucigalpa or Mogadishu. And its violent crime rate, while soaring, is still much lower than that of Baltimore or St. Louis, for instance. But comparing New York today with the New York of even a few years ago makes clear that the city is undergoing a serious fracturing of civic order—one trending toward further disintegration.
If you make something cheaper you will see more of it, and the powers that be have made crime and lawlessness cheaper. At least for the criminals.
The article follows how a person with an extensive criminal record was released immediately after threatening a stranger with a loaded crossbow.
It is worth your time. Can it be that at least some journalists are waking to the Truth?
All this may not amount to “anarchy,” in a purist’s sense of the word. But it isn’t the New York City that Bill de Blasio inherited, either.

As a reward for my efforts, I was given an extremely unique opportunity that was the highlight of my time at Minot; the nuclear weapons convoy mission.
Number 1 lesson: Calm Down.

BLM Shows Its Anti-Semitic Side

Jewish men who said they were trying to show “solidarity” with Black Lives Matter protesters were violently chased away by the mob and ridiculed as being part of the “synagogue of Satan,” according to disturbing video posted online.
Inclusive? "Big Tent Liberalism?" Hardly. More and more like Mussolini's Black Shirts every day. (The Brown Shirts were more dangerous and better organized than the Italians ever managed.)
“This ain’t your fight. Y’all gotta go,” another man tells them, as others start ganging up on them, shouting for them to leave. “We’re just showing solidarity,” one of the Jewish men politely tells them, agreeing to leave but being surrounded and repeatedly told, “Get the f–k out!”

I don't like wearing masks, but I do wear them. This reaction is insane. Bond Denied For Sisters Accused of Stabbing Store Employee 27 Times Over Mask Request
They were asked to wear masks. They were asked to use hand sanitizer. In short, they were asked to behave like polite adults, and have a modicum of respect for their fellow citizens. It was apparently too much to ask.
According to Cook County prosecutors, upon their arrival, the victim asked the Hill sisters to put on masks and use hand sanitizer to help protect against the spread of COVID-19. But the pair refused and an argument turned violent when Jessica Hill allegedly pulled out a concealed knife.
The sisters were seen striking him with a trash can before Jayla Hill held the man by his hair and Jessica Hill stabbed him repeatedly, according to prosecutors. They then continued the assault by allegedly kicking him as he fell to the ground.
He was stabbed 27 times. The sisters are held without bail on attempted murder charges.
A defense attorney representing the sisters said her clients had no criminal background. Both graduated from Chicago Public Schools in recent years and are college-bound.
Yeah, I believe that. Or maybe he couldn't come up with any other reason they aren't in school, and they aren't employed. And they now officially have a criminal record.

Oh, and this story reinforces the fact that when seconds count, police are minutes away. Probably about 10 minutes from the 1st 911 call, but 6 minutes after the hero took care of business.

[Father]: I was told my son was there and may have gotten involved with a guy, possibly even fighting the guy?
Clerk: Is your son tall and strong with black hair?
[Father]: Yes!
Clerk: Oh my God sir, your son…he was…your son…was…was…awesome. There was an evil man here with an evil laugh trying to kidnap some kids. He didn’t care about anyone. He was hurting people. We were throwing bottles at him and nothing was working. He beat us up really bad. We knew the police were a long ways away and we knew this man was going to take the kids because we couldn’t stop him. As soon as I realized the kids were in danger and the evil was going to win, the door opened up and your son walked in. He didn’t hesitate. He jumped in, overpowered this man, and held him down until the police got there.
[Father]: Do you know where my son is?
Clerk: I’m sorry, I don’t. He left after talking to the police.

I missed this bit of news in June. I was sorry to hear that. Obituary: Ian Holm. Born September 12, 1931, and died, June 19, 2020. He was 88 years old
His illness was Parkinson's-related, his agent confirmed.
He is most known for playing the old Bilbo Baggins in Peter Jackson's adaptations of Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. What a lot of people don't know is that he played the part of Frodo Baggins in the 1981 BBC Radio adaptation of Lord of the Rings. That was 26, thirty-minute episodes on 13 cassette tapes. Which I listened to on many a car trip. I finally donated them to my local library decades ago. There is a version available on either CD, or elsewhere I understand. (Audible?)
Holms also played the android Ash, in the original 1979 movie Alien.

Governor No Fun. The Grinch Who Stole Thanksgiving
No over the river and through the woods in California this year. At least not for larger families.
Governor Gavin Newsom’s Department of Health has issued an updated “Guidance for Private Gatherings” in time for Thanksgiving. Basically, fun is illegal in California:Gatherings that include more than 3 households are prohibited. This includes everyone present, including hosts and guests.So if you have three kids, you can invite two of them.
My mother used to sit 35 people for Thanksgiving, because celebrating the holidays with family is important. But then the Left would love nothing better than to tear apart the fabric of society, so they can rebuild it according to their own plan. (Venezuela couldn't be reached in time to comment.)
California gatherings must be outdoors.
This would not work well in Minnesota. We haven’t even gotten to Halloween yet, and where I live there are 8 inches of snow on the ground.

His real crime was disrespecting their authority. He forced his way in, where they didn't want him to be.
And the officer in charge was a protege of Jon Burge, now famous for torturing confessions out of "suspects." (Or random black guys off the street.)
In 1990, Smith was convicted of the double murder, despite evidence proving he had no involvement, and the Circuit Court refused to suppress his confession, his attorneys said.
For many years, Smith represented himself filing several post-conviction petitions, and in 2013 the Illinois Torture Inquiry and Relief Commission granted him relief, finding that “there is sufficient evidence of [Robert Smith’s] torture to conclude that his Claim is credible and merits judicial review for appropriate relief.”

Usually you hear Weird Al Yankovic's parody songs, but on most of his albums he actually includes a polka-medley of popular songs. This is something I didn't know until I got caught up in the Dresden Files by Jim Butcher. One of the characters, Waldo Butters, is a polka aficionado. And sometimes I just need to laugh.
This is "Polkarama!" by Weird Al Yankovic from the 2006 album Straight Outta Lynwood. The reference to "Feel Good Inc." by Gorillaz always makes me smile. Don't be fooled by the fact that starts with an actual polka.
The Dresden Files are a cross between The Rockford Files, the old TV show, and Harry Potter. Harry Dresden is a Wizard and a Private Investigator working in Chicago mostly keeping the supernatural threats at bay. And making the occasional snide comment. The first novel isn't great, but the story is engrossing, and Butcher gets better fast as a writer. I can recommend the entire series, though I haven't read the newest addition which was just released this year.

Looting is already being reported in Philadelphia tonight, the second night of #BlackLivesMatter riots following the Monday afternoon police shooting of 27-year-old Walter Wallace Jr. In last night’s Mostly Peaceful™ Protest, “76 people were arrested for burglary including three with guns, 11 were arrested for assaulting police officers, and three were arrested for failure to disperse,” according to WPVI-TV.
The media is conveniently not telling the truth about how the guy who got shot was armed with a knife and attacked police.

So cops shot and killed a guy who was attacking them with a knife. Riots ensue.
A 56-year old sergeant who was struck by a pickup truck driven by protestors who plowed into law enforcement was left with a broken leg. He was hospitalized and is reportedly in stable condition, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. As police rushed to protect the wounded officer, protests in the crowd continued to pelt the group of responders with rocks and various other projectiles.

Prosecutors said the homeowner was too quick to open fire on Jeffrey Dickinson. Gregory Korwek’s defense attorneys said the 44-year-old left him no choice.
Because we can't have people exercising individual responsiblity. Especially not in the People's Republic of California. Where will it end?
The 12 jurors decided Korwek was justified to use deadly force and that the homicide did not amount to second-degree murder or voluntary manslaughter. Murder requires an intent to kill. O’Neill maintained Korwek had none.
The DA then issued some bullshit statement, to try and cover up the fact that this shouldn't have been brought to trial in the first place. In Texas, or Oklahoma, the cops would have bought this guy a coffee. Or something stronger.

As Chicago’s homicide rate soared this year, Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx tweeted in July, “the excessive violence of the past 2 months has been an anomaly.” The following month, August, was among the worst for homicides in Chicago since the 1950s, and subsequent months have also shown substantial increases compared to previous years.

Ellerbe became the fifth Baltimore teenager killed in the past two weeks, and five of the past seven homicide victims were teens. Baltimore police say a total of seven juveniles have become homicide victims since July 1 in the city.
The situation in Chicago does get local attention, as does the crime in New York City and Baltimore. But the shooting of Ethan Williams got (some) national attention. Why? I am not saying his death isn't a tragedy for his family, but what about all the other families?

About 11:15 a.m., the man, believed to be in his 40s, was shot by the homeowner during a burglary in the 7100 block of South Mozart Street, police said.
The investigation continues, but self-defense is a human-right.

Decision making behind closed doors by Angela Merkel and the state premiers was not the only thing to anger parliamentarians. It also emerged that the health ministry in Berlin is fast-tracking efforts to push through both an extension (beyond March 2021) and an expansion of the special rights granted to Health Minister Jens Spahn of the Christian Democrats (CDU).
Germany isn't the only place where democratic rule is under attack. The governors of California, Michigan, New York and other places also seem to think they can rule by decree.

Vandals Want to Destroy All Parts of Western Civilization
They hate every part of civilization. Artworks vandalized on Berlin's Museum Island.
In this country they claim they want to remove Confederate statues. But it won't stop there.
On Wednesday morning, police confirmed reports by German media, including newspaper Der Tagesspiegel and broadcaster Deutschlandfunk, that unknown perpetrators sprayed oily liquid on at least 70 objects in the Pergamon Museum, the Neues Museum, the Alte Nationalgalerie and other locations.
Media reports indicated that the crime had occurred nearly three weeks ago, on October 3, which was German Unity Day and the 30th anniversary of reunification between East and West Germany. Whether the day was deliberately chosen remains a mystery.
It is about destroying every part of history. "History Starts With Us" is a common refrain of communists throughout history. And other people just want to burn everything down.
Melbourne's West Gate Bridge Is Sinking

Another Mom Defending Her Family
Pacheco said a friend pulled up to watch the Heat play in the NBA Finals when waiting criminals caught him off guard.

According to court records, Smith and Shoulders committed an armed robbery together in 2015. They both got a big break back then: probation instead of prison. "While on probation both of them were charged with additional violent crimes," [Andy] Kahan [with CrimeStoppers] said.
So one of the 2 miscreants, who was out on probation, was charged in 3 different violent crimes. And now the 4th: Murder.

Liberals Are Confused About the Definition of "Coyote"
Not only do the ACLU, Biden and others have some confusion about the term "coyote," they are also lying about a certain lawsuit.
The report claims that “the parents of 545 children still can’t be found,” but that’s not quite right. The NPR report omitted a statement issued by Department of Homeland Security spokesperson Chase Jennings explaining that in fact the vast majority of these parents have been found but have refused reunification with their children, which is why the children are still in DHS custody.
“In the current litigation, for example, out of the parents of 485 children whom Plaintiffs’ counsel has been able to contact, they’ve yet to identify a single family that wants their child reunited with them in their country of origin,” Jennings said.

The 46-year-old man heard what appeared to be someone breaking into his home at 4:52 p.m. in the 4800 block of North Kenneth Avenue, according to Chicago police. He went to investigate and was confronted by a 58-year-old man who doesn’t live there.
The would-be bad-guy was shot in the arm and ran away, but was later picked up and taken to a hospital.
And they make a point of noting that the homeowner was licesned to have a gun in his own home. That requirement is one of tne of the many reasons I don't live in the People's Republic of Illinois.
Self-defense is a Human-right. The investigation is on-going, because the powers-that-be in Chicago and Cook County would love to charge this guy with something. We can't allow individual action and individual responsibility!
You Ever Have the Feeling They Aren't Telling You the Whole Story?
On Tuesday, shortly before 10 a.m., an armed 31-year-old man tried to rob another man on the 2600 block of North Napa Street in the Strawberry Mansion neighborhood, Philadelphia police said. The second man fired his own weapon, shooting the 31-year-old once in the chest. The 31-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. The man who shot him was not injured during the incident and has not been charged.
The shooter was an off-duty employee with the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office, who "who also works as a gun violence counselor."
I don't expect to hear much else, but I will try to try and stay alert to developments in this case.
Oh, and Self-defense is a Human-right.
Grazing in the Grass
Hugh Masekela is sometimes known as the father of South African jazz. He played the trumpet, flugelhorn and coronet. He passed away in 2018 at the age of 78.
In 1961, as part of the anti-apartheid campaign, he was exiled to the United States where he was befriended by Harry Belafonte. Primarily, he played in jazz ensembles, with guest appearances on albums by The Byrds, and Paul Simon. In 1987, his single, "Bring Him Back Home", became an anthem for the movement to free Nelson Mandela. After apartheid ended, Masekela returned to South Africa.
I don't know how I first ran across this song, but I've known it for a very long time. It MAY have been something from high school jazz band, though it may have been just from it having charted.

I have a new-found respect for Sheriff Richard Jones. Ohio sheriff says he will offer financial help for any celebrity wishing to leave country if Trump wins
“Celebrities threatening to leave the United States if the president is re-elected. This happened in 2016 and it is believed not one celebrity left then and it appears the same threats are being made this election year,” Jones wrote on Facebook.
A whole slew of celebrities "threatened" to move out of the country, and one promised to move off the planet (Cher?) if Trump won. As if that was a deterrent. Now they are making more threats.
