Five people have lost their lives in a shooting in the northern German town of Stade, police have confirmed.

Stade is city in Lower Saxony, Germany, about 15 miles west of Hamburg, though the drive would be about 25 miles.

Officers announced at approximately 1.45pm CEST (12.45pm BST) that five people had been killed in the attack in the Dankersstraße area of the town. Authorities also confirmed that a number of people sustained injuries in the incident, which occurred at a youth facility.

In addition to the 6 fatalities (see below), several people were injured.

The women and one man were shot dead inside the facility, and a sixth person later died of their injuries in hospital. All the victims were adults.

The German police are also on the job.

Police earlier told the BBC that two people had been arrested, including the suspected shooter. It later said a third person was also being investigated.

It being Germany, we will get no information on the suspects, because that might cause you to adopt some non-government-approved ideas.

German Boy Decapitated By Palestinian Migrant

German media is reporting that a 14-year-old boy was murdered in an abandoned building near Memmingen train station by 37-year-old Qais Saleh, a rejected Palestinian asylum seeker from Abu Qash in the West Bank.

He was denied asylum, but couldn't be deported for some reason. Why? Bureaucrats run on documentation and he didn't have any.

When confronted, he attacked officers with a knife, fled, and was later shot after lunging at them again outside an indoor swimming pool.

He died in hospital and authorities are now investigating the use of lethal force.

Because of course they are investigating if a guy who killed a kid, and then attack cops with knife, was dealt with fairly. And while this is Germany, this kind of thing is happening all over Empathetic Europe, though decapitation is extreme, rape has become disturbingly common.

Germany Clearly Needs More Vehicle Control - the Leipzig Attack

Authorities confirmed that two German citizens were killed — a 63-year-old woman and a 77-year-old man. At least two people were seriously injured, while around 20 others suffered minor injuries, according to emergency services.

Leipzig, Germany is in the state of Saxony. It is about 140 kilometers, or 87 miles, southwest of Berlin.

Authorities have not commented directly on his mental health but both the Bild daily [a German newspaper] and local broadcaster MDR reported that he had recently been receiving treatment in a psychiatric facility.

Bild said he had admitted himself to the centre, but was asked to leave on Sunday due to aggressive behaviour towards other patients.

Which Is More Disturbing, A Deliberate Attack or Crumbling Infrastructure?

I didn't call it a terror attack, in part because the police are still investigating, and well, it would be an overstatement.

A fire broke out on Saturday, damaging the city’s power infrastructure and prompting a police investigation into suspected arson.

Thousands of residents in large parts of southwest Berlin have been affected.

Temperatures in Berlin are hovering around freezing, and they were expecting snow.

‘Power is expected to be restored to Berlin-Lichterfelde late in the evening on 3 January 2026.

‘Power is expected to be restored to all customers on Thursday afternoon, 8 January 2026.’

So you have a critical infrastructure component that is subject to attack, causing a multiple-day outage. You can't have technological civilization without electricity. Lights. Heat. Communications.

I wonder if they will do anything to harden the infrastructure or build some kind of redundancy. No, they won't do that. That would involve proper systems design, and no one does that. No one in politics certainly.

Berlin, the once-divided city that epitomized the Cold War, commemorated the fall of the wall 36 years ago on Sunday with a memorial ceremony on Bernauer Strasse, a street that was split in two when the Berlin Wall was erected in 1961.

I don't think people recognize what that meant. I know the younger generations don't understand the cold war, or the evil that is communism.

The official name in East Germany/the Warsaw Pact countries was "Anti-Fascist Protection Rampart," or "Antifaschistischer Schutzwall" in German. The propaganda was that it was to protect the people of East Germany from the evil capitalists that wanted to prevent them from creating a communist/socialist utopia. It is an abject lesson in the idea that you are not "anti-fascist" just because you say you are. The East Germans, and the Stasi in particular, were some of the biggest, meanest, evilest fascists in history. (Look up the Ministerium für Staatssicherheit.)

The wall stood for 28 years, from 1961 to 1989. It has been longer than 28 years since it was torn down.

While the fall of the Berlin Wall, didn't mark the end of the Cold War, it was definitely the beginning of the end. And while the threat of thermonuclear annihilation has not dropped to zero, I believe the risks are substantially less than they were in my youth.

While some media outlets are remembering the day, The Washington Post, The NY Times, The LA Times, The Chicago Sun Times, and The Chicago Tribune have apparently ignored the day. To be fair, a couple of them did notice that this is the anniversary of Kristallnacht, which a lot of people mark as the start of the Holocaust.

UK and Germany Are Destroying Their Industrial Base

Munich. After long negotiations, the rescue package stands for the ailing automotive supplier Webasto. The discussions between the board, owners, banks and participating car manufacturers have now been concluded, as it was said from industrial circles.

The financing package is reported to be less than two billion euros. Initial instalments are to be paid out in the coming days. Only the final written drafting of the contracts by the commissioned law firms is still missing. Webasto did not give any opinion on request.

Other suppliers are also in trouble. From Bild: Zwei deutsche Autozulieferer insolvent - OR - Two German automotive suppliers insolvent.

The two suppliers covered are The Huber Automotive AG from Mühlhausen in Baden-Württemberg, and MVI Group GmbH from Wolfsburg. They are being crushed by the EV mandates.

Huber produces ECUs, develops hardware and software for vehicles. As the “Wirtschaftswoche” first reports, sales in the 2023/24 financial year fell dramatically by around 58 percent to 38.9 million euros. Reasons: the weak demand for Electric cars and the generally tense Economic situation. Around 260 employees are affected by the bankruptcy.

"Weak demand for electric vehicles." Translation, people don't want electric vehicles, and the charging infrastructure is a long way from being ready.

MVI Group's customers are car manufacturers. Those manufacturers are in trouble, so their suppliers are as well.

The Wolfsburg MVI Group Lower Saxony is insolvent. The IT and engineering service provider lost orders because many customers are in difficulty. Around 300 employees work there, and their salaries are secured by the end of September via the insolvency money.

Lots of bold promises were made for the transition from petrol to battery-driven cars.

There is just one catch: with the news that the luxury manufacturer Lotus is losing almost half its workforce, it is becoming painfully clear that it is also the final nail in the coffin of the once mighty British car industry – and it is starting to look as if it is too late to save it now.

A decade ago Lotus was a niche brand in London, rating barely a footnote in the British auto industry. Jaguar Land Rover is now owned by an Indian company. Vauxhall closed a major plant. The trade association in Britain that monitors this stuff stated the the number of people working in British auto manufacturing has fallen to levels not seen since the 1950s.

It is not hard to work out all the things that have gone wrong for the industry. The post-Brexit supply chains were too complex. The Government also never managed to work out a way of reducing the paperwork to allow manufacturers to operate just-in-time systems that could survive our departure from the European Union.

Government regulations can't be reduced, at least not by people who are career bureaucrats. The British bureaucracy is several times larger today than it was at the height of the British Empire.

Above all, however, we have made a complete mess of the switch from petrol to electric vehicles. The “Green Commissars” that dominate policymaking have been determined to phase out petrol vehicles but never bothered to come up with a realistic plan for getting there.

When politicians who don't understand engineering, or power generation, they make laws and regulations that make no sense.

The Federal Network Agency’s auction for 10.1 gigawatt (GW) offshore wind farms in the German part of the North Sea ended with no investor submitting a bid for any of the two proposed sites, the Federal Association for Offshore Wind Energy, BWO, said.

The auction flop signals that offshore wind power developers are wary of taking on riskier, zero-subsidy projects amid rising costs and supply chain issues.

Europe May Not Be Willing to Spend Money on Its Own Defense

Military spending is expensive, and they have votes to buy with lavish social welfare states. Europe is still dithering about defense

Instead of urgently ramping up defense production and building a self-sufficient security framework, European nations continue to lean on Washington for leadership and resources. Europe’s citizens, meanwhile, are left watching and waiting, hoping that NATO’s security umbrella will hold.

The Hill has a rosy view of NATO, but be fair, it was always mostly a one-legged stool. Having the US pay the bulk of bill probably made sense in 1955, or 1965, but by 1975 Europe, and in particular Germany, should have been paying more. The United Kingdom and France have done a credible job of having a military commensurate with the size of their economy, even if France did make a few questionable purchases - like a nuclear aircraft carrier that didn't have enough shielding around the reactor to make actually using the thing possible.

One of the clearest examples of NATO’s misaligned priorities is Germany’s extensive Air Force deployment across the Indo-Pacific, a region increasingly defined by military tensions, territorial disputes and strategic competition between China and the U.S. As part of its operations, Germany has sent fighter jets and support aircraft to Alaska, Japan, Hawaii, Australia and India for joint training missions.

Why is Germany prioritizing deterrence in the Indo-Pacific when European security remains fragile? The U.S. values European support in Asia, but what it truly expects is a stronger, self-sufficient defense framework in Europe that ensures NATO remains a collective alliance, not one dependent on America.

Nothing will be solved in the short run. After decades of NOT spending money on their militaries, they won't make up the difference with a couple of years of spending 2% of GDP. I've seen one estimate that Germany needs to spend an additional $432 billion to completely modernize their military. That isn't going to happen.

The State of German Military Readiness

Since I was revisiting past posts on German military readiness, I thought a new post was in order.

It has been a couple of years since I looked at the state of German Military, but with all the talk of Europe "stepping up" to defend Ukraine, and provide for their own defense, I though it would be good to take a look. You don't have to look too hard to see that Germany is not interested in paying for its own defense.

"Before Russia's invasion of Ukraine, we had eight brigades at around 65% readiness," Colonel Andre Wuestner, head of the German Armed Forces Association, told Reuters in an interview. Sending weapons, ammunition and equipment to Ukraine, as well as accelerating Germany's own drills, took a toll on the available equipment, he said.

"Together, this means the German land forces are down to a readiness of around 50%," he said.

Because purchasing weapons, and paying for training costs money, and the one constant is that Modern Germany doesn't want to spend money on defense. They see that as America's job.

Berlin has failed to fully equip troops for a division for NATO by the start of this year, and in any case has no air defences to support them, the sources said.

Its pledge for a NATO division by 2027 is "long out of our reach," said a military source.

Germany retired an air-defense tank in 2012, despite the fact that its replacement won't be operational for a couple of years at least. This leaves the ground troops they do have with no air support against planes or drones. They are also short a bunch of 155mm howitzers. Some were sent to Ukraine, but several batches of required weapons have not been ordered. There is info on the state of the guns, or lack of guns, there is no info on available ammunition for those howitzers. Modern warfare is an exercise in logistics.

"Suspected" Attack in Germany

Workers taking part in a union demonstration were walking along a street when the car overtook a police vehicle that was accompanying the group, according to officers in the German city.

They said the car then sped up and ploughed into the back of the group, before police opened fire.

Well, what is the evidence that this was an actual terror attack?

A 24-year-old Afghan asylum seeker, Farhad N, has been arrested after officers fired a shot at the vehicle.

No evidence at all. I'm sure it's just that his breaks failed. Or something.

After this attack and the Christmas market attack in Magdeburg, I really do expect Germany to outlaw cars, because it is definitely the fault of the gun, the knife, the car, and not a problem with the man, or with immigration from third world countries.

Germans Beginning to Feel the Results of Mass Immigration

There was a survey of Germans, and 81% of people feel that "Germany has taken in too many refugees."

The report highlighted several recent violent attacks across the country carried out by migrants, including most recently in Aschaffenburg, where a failed Afghan asylum seeker who should have been deported targeted a group of kindergarten children in a park, stabbing a 2-year-old boy to death.

A woman who was interviewed said she felt particularly vulnerable when using train and bus stations and places “wherever it is dark.”

I don't think that this will impact the upcoming German elections. For two reasons. Germans are still worried about being called mean names. The EU has said they will throw out the election results if the EU doesn't like the results. (Hat tip to Paul Joseph Watson.)

A 28-year-old man from Afghanistan was arrested following a knife attack on Wednesday in a park in the German city of Aschaffenburg in which two people were killed, including a toddler, police and the state health minister said.

The suspect deliberately attacked a kindergarten group in the park with a kitchen knife, Bavarian Interior Minister Joachim Herrmann said.

He applied for asylum in Germany. He was denied. He never left, and was never deported.

Bavaria state interior minister Joachim Herrmann said the suspect had come to the attention of authorities for violent behaviour on three separate occasions.

"The authorities must explain as quickly as possible why the attacker was even still in Germany," [German Chancellor Olaf] Scholz said in a statement reacting to the killing of a man and a child in Aschaffenburg.

So why aren't they doing anything about this? Because if they do something, they will be called racist. They can dress it up, but that is why everyone is frozen. See the stories on the UK Grooming gangs.

EU to Germany - Do What You're Told

Former French European Commissioner Thierry Breton has essentially openly confessed that the West stole the Romanian election and stands ready to do it again in Germany if deemed necessary.

"We did it in Romania, and we will do it in Germany if necessary," a translation from the French of Breton's recent appearance in European media said. Early last month a top Romanian court simply annulled the first round of the country's presidential election in order to create what amounted to a 'do over' election.

And what they are told is to shut up and accept as many immigrants as the EU wants to send their way.

Scholz lost a confidence vote on Dec. 16 and leads a minority government after his unpopular and notoriously rancorous three-party coalition collapsed on Nov. 6

An election would have been held in September if the government didn't collapse.

Key issues include immigration, how to get the sluggish economy going, and how best to aid Ukraine in its struggle against Russia.

No one on the Left wants an election so close to the Christmas market attacks. AfD is polling fairly strong, which makes the establishment crazy.

And the way to get Germany's economy going is to bring back cheap ways to make electricity. Wind isn't working out as planned. But the Left in Germany will never allow that.

Anti-Christmas Terrorism in Germany

UPDATE: The death toll is now up to 5, and they are saying that 200 were injured.

This story, which is also related to "security" at Christmas markets, makes me angry. Miguel Gonzalez: There is a knife crime problem in Germany.

And the solution is the confiscation of all knives including from old ladies.

Instead of blaming the people for crime, the German authorities are channeling their 1930s ancestors, and searching people at Christmas sales, like the one in Magdeburg. More security theater? It is more than that. It is the erosion of rights.

And while they are busy confiscating Swiss Army Knives from elderly women (yes, they did do that), they ignore the real threat to Christmas markets.

So when the Europeans eliminate all of the knives, will they then outlaw steel pipe? Rocks? When will people realize that it isn't the tool used that is to blame; it is the person wielding the tool.

An opinion poll held days before the vote found that 74% of Germans supported Kamala Harris whereas only 11% supported Trump.

I always find the asymmetry fascinating. Europeans are heavily invested in American politics, while Americans can't tell you who is in charge of Germany, or France, or the UK, let alone Poland or Slovenia.

Can you imagine running an opinion poll in the US and asking the man in the street how they feel about the candidates in an upcoming German elections?

The election was seen as a referendum on issues like migration and economic policy at home, but also pivotal for geopolitical issues around the world.

Germany's most widely-read tabloid Bild said the election outcome was "the last warning signal for our government" as it attempts to overcome voters' grievances similar to those in the US.

Which is why the government and the media are so opposed to what Americans have said we, as a whole, want.

Well, and they are looking at the very real possibility that they will actually have to start paying for their own national defense.

Weekly newspaper Die Zeit also ran an article with a single, uncensored English word as its headline: "F---."

Die Ziet, unlike Deutsche Welle, doesn't translate their content into English, and yet they had one word of English as their headline.

What is really going on? The media, which is the PR branch of globalism, like the World Economic Forum, is pissed off that people are no longer listening to them.

Police in Braunschweig, Germany, are under fire after reportedly failing to inform the public about the rape of a 12-year-old girl by a Syrian migrant last month. The incident, which was kept quiet by local authorities, is said to have occurred on August 10 when a 15-year-old Syrian migrant molested the girl in a public pool before raping her in the changing room.

According to Junge Freiheit, the case was only made public to locals after a resident tipped off a local newspaper which pursued the authorities for details.
