Tuesday Links - 30 June

The Crime Prevention Research Center (CPRC) is up first with Canada is a much more dangerous country than the United States. Total violent crime in Canada is 295% higher than the US.

Comparisons of crime rates across countries often focus on homicides or murders. In 2025, the U.S. murder rate will be about 4 per 100,000 people—roughly twice Canada’s 2024 homicide rate of 1.91 per 100,000.

Virtual Mirage - Beware the Old Man

Why are old men dangerous? In high-risk fields—like special operations, high-hazard mining, or contract crime—the reckless, impatient, and unlucky are weeded out early. An elder has survived every trap that killed his peers.

Glenn Harlan Reynolds - Bringing Back the 'Spoils System?' Yes, Please.

As for our professional, independent civil service — it is to laugh. The civil service isn’t independent: It happily does the bidding of Democratic presidents. It’s just partisan, in that it does its best to stall and undermine the work of Republican presidents. (By now we’ve all seen the emails.)

Aristo! Aristo! A la lanterne! - Does Hamas execute gay people? Do gay people support Hamas?

The CPAP lurked in my mind. Some people like them. Some people hate them. I think mine saved my damn life. I’m ever so grateful they exist. Unfortunately, I take the gadget way too seriously. I fear to break the spell it cast when it dragged my ass up from the ground.

District Attorneys Hate Self-Defense

And in California... Attorney Allen Sawyer Secures Release of Security Guard Charged After Fatal Sacramento Cannabis Dispensary Shooting

He was working as a guard at a Cannabis Dispensary. Two masked guys broke in. He shot them. So of course he was charged with voluntary manslaughter.

Sawyer [the defense attorney] said the charges are unwarranted and that his client acted in self-defense while protecting himself and the property he had been hired to secure.

Mass Shooting in Germany

But they have all those lovely gun-control laws. Five dead in Stade shooting as two suspects arrested near Germany youth centre

Five people have lost their lives in a shooting in the northern German town of Stade, police have confirmed.

Stade is city in Lower Saxony, Germany, about 15 miles west of Hamburg, though the drive would be about 25 miles.

Officers announced at approximately 1.45pm CEST (12.45pm BST) that five people had been killed in the attack in the Dankersstraße area of the town. Authorities also confirmed that a number of people sustained injuries in the incident, which occurred at a youth facility.

In addition to the 6 fatalities (see below), several people were injured.

From the BBC: Sixth person dies after shooting at youth welfare centre in Germany

The women and one man were shot dead inside the facility, and a sixth person later died of their injuries in hospital. All the victims were adults.

The German police are also on the job.

Police earlier told the BBC that two people had been arrested, including the suspected shooter. It later said a third person was also being investigated.

It being Germany, we will get no information on the suspects, because that might cause you to adopt some non-government-approved ideas.

De Oppresso Liber

Five Finger Death Punch have announced a new album.

Five Finger Death Punch have just announced their new album Legacy in tandem with its second single, "De Oppresso Liber."

The hard rock veterans' 10th studio record will come out digitally on July 31 with physical copies (CD, vinyl, cassette) arriving on Sept. 18. [via Loudwire]

This song is "De Oppresso Liber" by Five Finger Death Punch. It is a single they released on Friday from the album Legacy which is scheduled to be released on July 31st. It is the 2nd single released from that album. The title of the song is "The Book of the Oppressed" in English.

Can't embed the video, because as I type this it is not released to YouTube. Given the way YouTube, et al pays artists, I can't say that I am surprised. (I can embed Tidal videos, but you need a Tiday ID, and I know most of you won't have that.

An Interesting Ruling on Self-Defense and Job Termination

From The National Law Review we get the following: Colorado Supreme Court Decision on Wrongful Termination Claims

The SCOTUS ruling about Hawaii's so-called Vampire Law has drowned this out of the news, or I didn't see much about it. A very interesting ruling was handed down by the Colorado State Supreme Court on June 15th about wrongful termination suits.

The TL;DR version is as follows.

  • The Colorado Supreme Court ruled that employees may bring wrongful termination claims if fired for acting in self-defense, even if their lawful exercise of the right to self-defense violates employer policies prohibiting confrontations.
  • The court identified a public-policy exception to at-will employment, emphasizing that termination cannot penalize employees for exercising their statutory and constitutional right of self-defense.
  • The decision highlights potential wrongful termination liability for employers if they discharge employees for lawful actions taken in self-defense in the workplace.

This is interesting because every large pizza chain forbids its delivery drivers to be armed. Uber and Lyft have similar rules for their drivers, though they are not, strictly speaking, employees. I assume that places like GurbHub and DoorDash have a similar rule. I am guessing that a lot of restaurant and gas station chains have similar laws.

Anyone with a violent stalker needs to be armed in their own defense. But the places where they are disarmed is exactly those places where they are on a known schedule at a known location. To and from work. Picking up and dropping off kids at school and/or daycare. Going to church.

It should be interesting to see how this plays out in Colorado, and to see if this idea gets transfered to other states. (Hat tip to Keep and Bear Arms)

DCU: Is It the Dead Cinematic Universe, or the D-She-U?

Take your pick. (And yes, it was Nerdrotic who asked that question.)

Let's start with the final line from the embedded video below.

And look who has the last laugh now, because let's face it, Henry Caval dodged a speeding bullet when he was fired by James Gunn.

As I type this, Sunday afternoon, the weekend box office estimates are in, at least for the domestic take. It isn't good. The take for the James Gunn, DCU's movie, Supergirl, is $38 million for it's openning weekend. That is for Wednesday and Thursday previews, Friday's actual receipts, some (or all) of Saturday's reporting, and estimates for Sunday. They are pretty good at those estimates at this point.

The international numbers are $30 million, but those estimates are not nearly as good, and the reporting internationally won't really be complete for at least a few days.

You can find that data - it will be updated, positively or negatively as more reporting comes in - at The Numbers. (You have to click the "Box Office" tab, since I have not found a way to link to that directly)

UPDATE: As of Monday afternoon, the Sunday actuals have been revised down from the estimate. The weekend domestic total is now listed at $37.1 million. And the international numbers are even worse. The international box office came in at $25.5 million for a total weekend take of $62.6 million.

And because it bears repeating, it turns out the movie studios don't show movies for free. DC Studios will receive only about half of the box office receipts.

So, is James Gunn in charge of the Dead Cinematic Universe? Let's ignore Creature Commandos, I didn't watch, and neither did very many people, Peacemaker, which lost most people at the orgy scene, and anything else that is 2nd tier. James Gunn's Superman probably lost money, or barely broke even. We don't know, because we don't know the marketing budget, and I'm not convinced we know the real production cost. But it was not a grand success. Supergirl is on track to lose many millions, perhaps 100s of millions, of dollars. Sounds pretty dead to me.

Though it could be James Gunn is in charge of the D-She-U. Because it seems like Supergirl is about as popular as The Marvels, with a story line not too different from Captain Marvel. That is, there is no character arc for the protagonist. She is the same at the end of the movie. Nothing was changed.

This is the Nerdrotic video review of the new DCU movie. Supergirl is Abysmal - The DCU is DEAD

When you're making people miss the CW, I would say Paramount-Warner Brothers, or Mount Bros, has a big problem on their hands.

The movie is 28 minutes, but I think you will enjoy it.

What does it say about Hollywood, when the videos tearing their movies apart, are more entertaining than the movies?

There is a book about titled Save the Cat!: The Last Book on Screenwriting You'll Ever Need. Supergirl seems to be a "save the dog" adventure. I think they missed a couple of chapters.

What follows is a list of a few review articles on this film. I haven't read all, or even most, of these articles; I just find the titles funny. Well, except for the 3rd entry, which is sad. (Comparing Supergirl to Joker 2 is mean.)

When Self-Defense Justification Ends

Every bullet comes with a lawyer attached. Memphis Tenant Shoots Masked Burglar Caught Hauling His TV Out the Door - USA Carry

He interrupted a burglary. The burglar reached into a bag, suggesting he was armed. That is grounds for defense.

One detail worth noting for anyone who carries. The tenant fired twice when the suspect reached into the bag, then twice more as the man ran. Self-defense protects you against an imminent threat, and that protection is strongest in the first exchange. Once a threat turns and flees, the legal ground shifts fast. We do not have every detail here, and prosecutors will weigh all of it, but it is a useful reminder that the justification can end the moment the danger does.

Click thru for more, including a discussion of the changes coming July 1st, which apparently have been exaggerated.

Self-defense is a human right. That doesn't mean you can shoot anyone over anything.

Venezuela and Natural Disasters

If you wait for the government to help, you will be waiting a long time. You are on your own: Natural Disasters.

Remind me... What were the conditions in the Superdome in New Orleans, after Katrina?

So there has been a couple of earthquakes. Venezuela is not prepared. Do you think your state, or FEMA would be?

Now, this is Venezuela which has very little on trained emergency services and up to the standard and equipment of the U.S.1 But even if they had that kind of preparation, they cannot just materialize anywhere instantly and wave a magic wand to remove tons of broken concrete slabs to get people out.

Do your preps include tools? I have a couple of crowbars, I keep thinking I should be a Halligan bar, what the firemen use, but the quality examples are expensive. And I don't live in Earthquake country.

The well-known anti-gun groups are apparently all funded from a few sources. You can probably guess some of them.

NSSF has called them out in the past for their bought-and-paid-for activism and it’s time to do it again. Self-Defense Is Legal in Baltimore

The DA seems to have thrown a lot of charges at him, hoping to convict on something. 21-Year-Old Acquitted in Downtown Shooting - Baltimore Witness

Davon Matthews, 21, was acquitted of attempted murder, first-degree assault, reckless endangerment, firearm use, and two gun offenses. He was initially charged in connection to a Sept. 14, 2025, shooting that occurred on the 300 block of Light Street. An 18-year-old man was injured in the confrontation.

Seems like the DA couldn't make up his mind about charges.

Seems like police procedure might have been an issue.

Hanna argued that surveillance footage and witness testimony left unanswered questions about how the incident began. She contended that police failed to fully investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting and could not establish whose gun fired the shot that struck the victim.

Now I don't what happened or who was at fault, whether this is justice or not.

But I'm a bit surprised that the jury, in Baltimore, didn't find him guilty of something. I think the DA might have been surprised as well.

Naked Intruder Shot by Homeowner

Given that he was naked, do we believe that drugs were involved? Yes we do. "Multiple substances" were involved. Arrest of naked break-in suspect shot by Medford homeowner leads to theft IDs | Rogue Valley Times

A Michigan man who was shot late Sunday night by a homeowner while attempting to break into a residence in the 800 block of Gilman Road in Medford was sentenced Tuesday to 30 days in jail.

There was a plea involved.

Medford, Oregon, is about 75 miles east of the Pacific coast, and about 20 miles north of the California state line.

The District attorney seems to have his head screwed on straight.

“Despite us not having the ability to charge a more serious offense, it is a serious and scary incident for the homeowners and family involved,” Green added. “For that reason, I have concluded the deadly use of force used against him by one of the homeowners was completely justified under Oregon law. As a result, there will be no criminal charges filed against her for rightly protecting her family in that situation.”

SCOTUS Strikes Down Hawaii Law Restricting CCW

Given all the other crazy laws in Hawaii, I'm not sure how much of a difference this is going to make in practice. Still... US Supreme Court strikes down Hawaii gun law as unconstitutional

The US Supreme Court on Thursday struck down a Hawaii law that bans the carrying of firearms on private property open to the public such as stores or restaurants without the owner's permission.

The conservative-dominated court, in a 6-3 decision, ruled that the state law was a violation of the Second Amendment of the Constitution, which says Americans have the right to keep and bear arms.

As I understand it, and I am no lawyer, you had to get permission from the owner of a business before (prior to arriving) you could conceal and carry on the premises in question.

Justice Samuel Alito, in an opinion joined by the five other conservative justices, said the Hawaii law imposes "severe restrictions" on residents who have been granted concealed carry permits.

You can read any number of articles for an overview, or you can find the decision on the Supreme Court's website.

How Should a Woman Defend Herself?

And what should she do when the pepper spray fails? Fort Worth Woman Pepper Sprays, Then Shoots Ex-Boyfriend Who Broke In - USA Carry

People also need to understand the sentence, "It's over!"

Her ex-boyfriend came to her home uninvited, forced his way inside, and began assaulting her.

The woman deployed pepper spray against her attacker first. When that did not stop him, she drew her firearm and fired, striking him three times. He was transported to the hospital with critical injuries. No charges have been reported against the woman.

So I would love for someone from the gun-hating part of the Left (it is not all of the Left) to explain what she should have done to defend herself. What should she do when she is being assaulted? What should she do when the non-lethal option fails? It only takes one to initiate a violent encounter, and if they choose you, they will not give you much warning.

With luck, between the gunshot wounds, and some prison time, this guy will learn a valuable lesson. I am not optimistic about that.

Self-defense is a human right, and this took place in Texas.

USAID Was Funding COVID Research in Wuhan

Jim Hoft at The Gateway Pundit has an update on your tax dollars doing bad things. Fauci Was Using USAID to Fund COVID Research in Wuhan Labs Resulting in 7.1 Million International Deaths – Trump Was Right

Since USAID stopped funding communists in elections in South America, the Left has lost several elections. Now the Democrats are screaming about deaths caused from lack of USAID funding. But they ignore the deaths caused by that funding.

Completely non-biased Spanish socialists.

Mike Benz pointed out that USAID was funding the COVID research at the Wuhan labs in China!

Benz then added that USAID likely killed more people by creating COVID than the totals from the junk leftist studies.

“I don’t blame them. They were doing what they felt they needed to do to protect their family. I wish it didn’t happen, but at the end of the day, they did what they felt was right,” Allen Barker said.

Feminists Against (Straight) Sex

The Other McCain brings us something in the way of a book report. Feminists and Their Problems

It seems that the folks on BlueSky, the Leftist alternative to X, Parler, et al, lost its collective mind over something recently.

A Canadian feminist, Phoebe Maltz Bovy, recently published a book The Last Straight Woman: On Desiring Men. A website published a 23-paragraph excerpt of Ms. Maltz Bovy’s book and, when this excerpt was promoted on BlueSky, the book’s theme and its author were angrily denounced.

Of course, I immediately ordered the book from Amazon. Anything that sends the BlueSky crowd into paroxysms of apoplectic rage must be good. /p>

Does anyone know why the folks at BlueSky thought they needed an alternative to Mastadon?

Seems that Ms. Bovy is searching for “feminist approaches to female heterosexuality.”

Dogs need to be controlled. Aggressive Dog Fatally Shot At East Wenatchee Apartments

This guy first encountered the dog, while he was trying to move into a new apartment. He asked the owner of the dog to come get it, and that too care of the situation for a while.

Authorities said the dog later came out again and acted aggressively toward the man, who then shot the dog with a handgun.

Two shots were fired, and the dog was struck twice.

The owner of the dog, then attacked the shooter. He declined to press charges on the assault.

East Wenatchee, Washington, is about 95 miles east of Seattle. The drive will be considerably longer than that.

I am not surprised by the following.

A similar complaint involving the dog had reportedly been made just days before Saturday’s shooting.

If you own a dog, you need to control it, one way or another. If you don't something like this is bound to happen.

Cops are treating this like self-defense, and the guy who shot the dog is not expected to face charges.

Self-defense is a human right.

Any Bets on This Library Being a Gun-Free Zone?

Shooting suspect scoped out library before returning with a shotgun and killing 2, police say
There have been at least three fatal attacks at libraries in the last nine years.

Libraries near me are gun-free defenseless victim zones. Why? Because they are run by Leftists who wouldn't "feel safe" if people were allowed to defend themselves. So they feel safe, but they are not safe.

Chico, California, is about an 85 mile drive north of Sacramento.

The suspect shot a man at the entrance of the library in the leg and then shot him in the head before firing multiple shots inside and shooting another man in the head, said Sid Patel, special agent in charge in the FBI’s Sacramento office.

Click thru for details.

Now I don't have a definitive source, but I do have AI (qwen3.5-9b) running locally. I asked, "Is concealed carry allowed in the library at Chico, California?"

No, concealed carry is generally not allowed inside the public libraries in Chico, California.

Here are the specific details regarding the law and policies:

  1. Chico Public Library Policy

The Chico Public Library system operates under a strict "Gun-Free Zone" policy. Like many municipal libraries in California, their Rules of Conduct prohibit weapons or firearms on library premises. This is enforced through posted signage upon entering the building. Violating this policy can result in the individual being removed from the property and potentially having their firearm confiscated.

  2. California State Law
    • Sensitive Public Places: Under California Penal Code, certain locations are designated as "Sensitive Public Places" where carrying a concealed weapon is prohibited by law. While libraries are not always explicitly listed in the state statute like schools or hospitals, the library building itself can designate itself as an exclusion zone if proper signage is posted and local ordinances support it.
    • Local Ordinances: Chico City and Butte County laws generally respect these facility-specific prohibitions. A valid Concealed Carry Weapon (CCW) permit allows you to carry in many public spaces, but it does not grant immunity against specific venue restrictions where firearms are banned by policy or signage.

I'm shocked that a policy "enforced through posted signage" at the entrance didn't stop a bad guy.

We Hate It When Our Friends Become Successful

This song was on WXRT's Saturday Morning Flashback, June 14th, when they were covering 1992. It reminded me of the insanity that is currently surrounding the first trillionaire, Elon Musk.

I don't particularly like Morrissey, but the song seems appropriate. The lyrics include the following.

And if we can destroy them
You bet your life we will destroy them

and

You see, it should've been me
It could've been me
Everybody knows
Everybody says so

Jealousy is an ugly thing.

More good guys are armed every day. The bad guys keep not getting that memo. Blue Springs homeowner shoots, kills alleged intruder, police say

Officers with the Blue Springs Police Department were called to the 100 block of Little Garden on Friday morning on reports of a burglary. A homeowner called 911 and said that someone had entered the home unlawfully.

Blue Springs, Missouri, is located 19 miles east of Kansas City.

While cops were on the way, the homeowner shot the intruder. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

And neighbors were shocked. Shooting during break-in shakes quiet Blue Springs neighborhood

Neighbors say the incident has left them shaken in an area they describe as quiet.

“I’m just more in shock than anything,” said James Ononye, a neighbor.

There are more statements along those lines. Neighbors wondering what they would do, not understanding that you need to plan ahead. The homeowner in this incident had a gun, it was loaded, and he knew how to use it, and presumably he knew a little about how the law in Missouri works.

You are not protected by your zip code. You do not live on top of magic dirt. You live in The Real World™ where crime can, and all too often does, occur. You should plan accordingly.

The investigation is only getting started, but Missouri is not Massachusetts.

Self-defense is a human right.

Campus Hate Crime Hoax Roundup

The The College Fix brings us The 2025-26 campus hate crime hoaxes: A complete roundup

As in years past, campus hate hoax incidents did not let up during the 2025-26 school year. From incidents that did occur but were not hateful, to crimes that likely did not happen, this school year saw plenty of hoaxes.

And no, The College Fix is not talking about Ku Klux Klan rallies that were funded by the Southern Poverty Law Center so that they could fundraise off that reemergence of the KKK. If that did happen, it would certainly be wrong!

How to Tank a Summer Blockbuster

I was going to say, that the first thing you need to do, is piss off your target audience, but the real problem is that Hollywood truly does not understand who the audience for superhero movies really is.

Case in point: Milly Alcock. We get the following from Cosmic Book News. Supergirl Box Office Tracking Now Eyes A $39M Low.

When the early projections for the Supergirl opening weekend box office were published, the high end projections were in the neighborhood of $55+ million in the USA and Canada. (Not sure why the projections include Canada, but don't include Mexico.) And then the studio set up some interviews between Milly Alcock and the LGBT media, and she insulted Christian dads, said that Supergirl is going to be some kind of gay or bisexual icon. Witness the result.

That’s notable for one big reason: it’s below the $45 million floor of the $45M–$55M range that recent tracking had settled on, and it’s a long way from where this started.

And that $39 million number is coming from Box Office Theory, one of the best sources for these projections available.

Even before this last round of recalculating the projections, Box Office Theory had settled on $51 million domestically, which is below The Flash, which had a $55 million domestic opening in 2024, and went on to lose $200 million on production budget (not including marketing) of between $200 and 220 million.

The other film that is being compared to Supergirl is The Marvels from Disney Marvel. That movie, from 2023, had an opening weekend of $46.1 million. Loses were calculated to be in the range of $237 million.

When this movie comes out this weekend, there will be much talk of superhero fatigue. But don't believe it. Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which comes out July 31st, is already setting sales records.

Tickets for Tom Holland’s fourth Spidey solo film went on sale Wednesday (along with a new trailer) and sold more tickets in the United States in a single day than any film has in the past five years. The film that it could not beat? Spider-Man: No Way Home, the last Tom Holland Spider-Man movie, five years ago.

This is Disarpu's video Supergirl COPE Goes Nuclear As Box Office Dies.

Disparu makes some good points. The Supergirl comics were mostly purchased by men. Men are the primary audience for all superhero movies. Even Madam Web was primarily watched by men in the cinema, despite all of the marketing being aimed at women. The marketing for Supergirl seems to trying to paint this as a movie for women. That is the mistake that Disney made with The Marvels, or one of the mistakes, anyway.

The video is about 14 minutes long.

One Cold Day

I looked this song up because of a discussion on social media, and realized that I hadn't featured it. I like Lacuna Coil, but they don't really make up too much of my regular listening. I think I need to change that.

Not many Italian Heavy Metal bands make an impact in the United States. They had two songs included in the movie Resident Evil: Apocalypse, and on MTV's Headbanger's Ball. The MTV thing was probably their big US break.

This is "One Cold Day" by Lacuna Coil from their 2014 album Broken Crown Halo.

Another Failure of the Victim-Selection Process

One airlifted to hospital after shooting incident in Winfield, TN

[Scott County Sheriff’s Office] said that [Samantha] Hall reportedly entered a woman’s property in the Pine Hill area of Winford, assaulted a woman, then tried to force her way into the woman’s home.

The homeowner was armed, and she fired. Hall was injured, and had to taken to a trauma center in Knoxville.

Winfield, Tennessee, is about 45 miles northwest of Knoxville. The drive will be longer. It is on the state line with Kentucky.

Hall was treated, and then taken into custody. She will face charges that include aggravated assault, and aggravated burglary.

Self-defense is a human right, and Tennessee has not morphed into Massachusetts.

Cops Are Using Flock Cameras to Stalk People

Are we surprised? Cops Keep Getting Arrested for Using Flock to Stalk People

They start out with following the case of one cop who used the system to track the movements of his ex-girlfriend, and her parents. Then we get to the general statements.

Local news reports from around the country repeatedly detail police abusing the Flock surveillance systemic order to stalk their partners or ex-partners. The contours of each story are much the same, with the police officer in question using their access to the system to repeatedly track a specific person over the course of weeks or months. The cases highlight the fact that Flock can be used to track the whereabouts of individual people, that police do not get a warrant in order to use the system, and that, if they have access to the system, they have the technical ability to look up any license plate they want for any reason they want

Flock claims the abuse is rare, but it should not be possible. There should be controls, audits, something.

The Greeks Strike Back

This is good. From Greek City Times: A Letter to Hollywood and Nolan's Odyssey Cast from Us Greeks

It turns out that there are no Greeks, in Nolan's upcoming adaptation of The Odyssey. Nolan, the director who prides himself on authenticity, or something, didn't put any Greeks in one of the quintessential Greek stories.

We write to you as Greeks, not as fragments of antiquity, not as echoes from museum displays, and not as characters sealed in marble, but as a living people whose story has never stopped being written.

Hollywood Actors Need to STFU - DC Edition

I know they won't. I just wish they would. ‘Supergirl’ Star Milly Alcock Claims The Film Is Beautiful Because “It’s Not Centered Around A Man” — Says Kara Would “Probably Go Both Ways”

Just days after making headlines by saying she was "honored" that many fans view Supergirl as a "queer icon," actress Milly Alcock is once again generating discussion about the character's sexuality and relationship to traditional gender roles.

During a recent interview, Alcock was asked whether Kara Zor-El's "queerness" was something she explored while preparing for the role. While she stopped short of explicitly labeling the character, the actress praised the film for not focusing on men and suggested she believes Supergirl would likely be attracted to both men and women.

This was after she made the comment basically saying that she was glad she pissed off Christian dads. Who the fuck does she think buys tickets to superhero movies?

Then there is this, from Giant Freaking Robot Supergirl Earns Rave Reviews, But The Movie Is Still Doomed

Most of the reviewers have been absolutely raving about Supergirl. Unfortunately, that enthusiasm may not be able to save a film that seems doomed to a mediocre box office performance.

Translation: There is no way this train wreck is going to make money.

Chicago Police Brass and Media Wouldn't Lie About Crime

Or would they? Jack Lucey at Chicago Contrarian brings us a story of lies. Chicago Police Brass, Media Present an Inaccurate View of Crime Statistics

Early on the morning after Memorial Day, Chicago Police officials announced there were no homicides over the just-concluded holiday weekend. The local media, operating with the lack of morals and dishonesty of a sleazy PR phony, with Mayor Brandon Johnson cheering them on, immediately parroted the news.

Except there was a homicide. At least one. On Memorial Day morning, a 47-year-old man was stabbed to death in Greater Grand Crossing on the South Side. Chicago Police officers were on the scene that day — and the victim was immediately declared dead.

CPD brass very likely knew about the stabbing death. But they wanted to rush the news out -- perhaps at the urging of Johnson — so the “no homicides” headline would dominate the post-holiday news cycle.
