So will there be Justice? I don't know much about the Criminal Justice System in Ontario, but I do know that criminals in Canada frequently have guns, while the law-abiding citizens rarely do.

Now a gun may not have saved this guy, there are no guarantees in life, but 7 against 1 odds are only going to be equalized by a firearm. I don't care if you're Chuch Norris's younger cousin, you are not going to fight off 7 guys. As for calling the cops, well how long do they take to repond where you live? (When you look that number up, remeber if is an average response time.)

But Australia has all of that lovely gun control. I have no idea if self-defense is legal, but it is clearly impossible given the disarmed state of the population.

One of the 2 terrorists was shot and injured, one was killed.

Unconfirmed reports say [the guy who got shot and injured] is a Pakistani immigrant. He was apparently radicalized at some point.

The other gunman was killed at the scene.

Why Would You Need to Be Armed Picking Up Your Kids?

A father was discovered shot dead in the parking lot of a church’s day care, where he was waiting to pick up his child, Louisiana police say.

People who want to create "gun free zones" around schools and day care centers, haven't eliminated crime around schools and day care centers. Just because that gun-free zone sign makes you feel safe, it doesn't mean that you are actually safe.

The dad was killed during a carjacking Sept. 30 outside Abeona House Child Discovery Center, New Orleans Police Department Supt. Nicholas Gernon said during a news briefing.

“I don’t think he even knew the person; he just aimed at the car and just started shooting at it,” a witness, Luke Gower, told WDSU. “His gun jammed, according to the homeowner. There I was, the next car in line, so I just feel lucky, I guess.”

So after he killed the dad, waiting to pick up his kids, he took the car.

Now, being armed in his own defense may not have saved this guy. In fact, if it was a true ambush, then likely he would be dead anyway. There are no guarantees in this life except for death and next winter's snow. But creating a gun free zone around the school/church/day care/whatever does not make you safe. It just makes you a defenseless victim.

This was a random crime. The suspect was found in the stolen car shot in the head. If he survives, he will be charged with murder.

Not all crimes are random. I usually point out that people who have violent stalkers have a need to be armed when they are at a known location on a known schedule. This includes to and from work, picking up and dropping off kids at school or day care, and at religious services. These are all places that the Left loves to designate as "gun free zones," which are really defenseless victim zones.

The signs mandating that the schools are gun free zones, are somehow failing to work. Perhaps we should try something aside from wishing really hard... Wishing that criminals would start obeying the law.

We know how to secure locations. Airports, sporting arenas, government buildings that are not schools, and more are secure. Why don't we secure schools? Because liberals want school shootings to happen, so they can push their agenda.

It turns out that it wasn’t an accident that attack in Minneapolis occurred at a gun-free zone. The murderer’s manifesto makes it clear that he purposely picked a gun-free zone.

Say it again. He explicitly picked a gun-free zone because the victims could not fight back.

On the same page, the murderer makes a common argument by those on the political right: “criminals with intentions are not going to follow rules!” As he points out, gun-free zones are a magnet for these attacks.

As I said on Wednesday, we know how to make a location secure. People don't want to spend the money on schools. And your world of choices are not either do nothing, or turn schools into prisons. There are other choices. The Left doesn't want to do anything.

Why? I will leave it to you to figure that out.

Attitude Counts in Self-Defense

Clearly Canada should enact common sense hammer control. Or something.

Still, attitude carries the day.

Self-defense is a human right, but Canada doesn't see it that way. You must rely on the state, even for the things the state cannot provide.

Montclair State University Is a Completely Defenseless-Victim Zone

They will offer self-defense classes, which will be totally useless if a coed is attacked by a group of men. Without even pepper spray to even the odds, it will be open season on women at Montclair State University.

There are 939.5 million reasons why Montclair owes the people an explanation. They should give clarity on whether or not pepper spray is prohibited. If it is prohibited, does a taxpayer funded university really have the power to disarm the people to that degree? Whether or not clarity or comment will be forthcoming after the officials have a further chance to discuss this quandary is not known. Wyoming Moves to Eliminate Schools as Gun Free Zones

Gun Free Zones are really Defenseless Victim Zones because criminals do not obey your signs. Proposed bill would create enhanced concealed-carry permit for Wyoming schools

A bill filed for the 2025 general session would create an “enhanced” concealed carry firearm permit that would allow qualified permit-holders to conceal carry on K-12 school campuses, as well as Wyoming university and college campuses, without needing written consent from campus security.

Actually permitting concealed carry WITH written permission means that Wyoming is miles ahead of most states.

Cooper’s bill, Senate File 37, “Enhanced concealed carry in school zones,” creates an application for a new enhanced concealed carry permit that would allow permit-holders to concealed carry onto school campuses. Cooper’s proposal would require at least eight hours of firearms training within the last 12 months and demonstrated proficiency with a firearm in order for applicants to qualify for an enhanced concealed carry permit.

It will be interesting see how this proceeds.

Banning Tools for Self-Defense Doesn't Stop Evil

A knife-wielding assailant killed two men and a woman during an hourslong, seemingly "unprovoked" stabbing spree through the streets of New York City on Monday, authorities said.

The two slain men — attacked near 444 W. 19th St. at 8:22 a.m. ET and then by 500 E. 30th St. at 10:27 a.m. — were taken to Bellevue Hospital, where they were pronounced dead, officials said.

Then a woman was stabbed in the shadow of the United Nations, near East 42nd Street and First Avenue, at 10:55 a.m., leaving her in critical condition. A New York City police spokesperson said Monday night that the woman died.

Illinois State Lawyers Apologize to Federal Judge

Illinois bans people with concealed carry licenses from carrying concealed while riding mass transit. A federal judge issue a very limited overturning of that rule, which was appealed. Three sleeping homeless people were murdered on Chicago transit. The Lawyers for the state blamed that crime on the judge's ruling, which is on its face, ridiculous.

The judge wanted to discuss their statements with them.

Johnston ordered the author of that passage to appear in his court to answer questions.

“For example – and by no way of limitation – counsel should be prepared to articulate the reasonable inquiry that was made to determine if the suspect in the CTAs Blue Line shooting possessed a concealed carry permit, and if so, whether he brought the gun onto CTA property to protect himself,” Johnston wrote. “Moreover, counsel should explain the reasonable inquiry as to how the suspect was protecting himself from the sleeping homeless people when he allegedly shot them.”

At which point, the lawyers in question went into backpedaling mode.

The truth is, that while the governor of The People's Republic of Illinois wants to keep law-abiding citizens from being armed, the criminals ARE armed on public transit. They always have been. News Flash: Criminals don't follow the law.

Just put up a sign saying "Gun Free Zone" and see how effective it is. (In the parody that is the State of Illinois, they believe that works.)

Gun Free Zones Do Not Make You Safe

I am not interested in whether or not you feel safe. I am interested in actually being safe. Campus protests highlight need for campus carry | Opinion

This is why I call "gun free zones" defenseless victim zones. That is what they truly are.

The editorial starts with quote from Florida Governor Ron D. about how protests such as those at UCLA and Harvard would get you suspended or expelled in Florida.

That’s well and good, but expelling students or even having campus police nearby doesn’t necessarily forestall a dangerous situation. What is proven to most effectively prevent threats is the robust presence of the Second Amendment. As such, gun-free zones on Florida’s campuses should be eliminated to empower students with their constitutional rights.

Now personally, armed or not, being in the presence of these protests/riots, armed or not, qualifies as a violation of the Rules of Stupid^‡. But under more normal circumstances, disarming the population only shifts the balance to the bad guys.

But then there are those who believe that the government is morphing into the bad guys. I'm not quite there yet, but I have no faith in most of them, and of course the police are not there to protect you or me. Even if they wanted to protect everyone, when seconds count they are only minutes away.

After some thoughts on the protests, the editorial above does go on to discuss a few incidents from 2014 including one sexual assault on the campus of FSU. Later the victim would give a statement to the press.

She told the press that, though she had pepper spray and “ran for blue lights,” her attacker had a knife and was “faster, stronger.” [she] added that, with a gun, the outcome would have been different. “The way that I carry it now, I would have been able to prevent what happened to me.”

Wyoming Hospital Discovers that Gun-Free Zones Are Defenseless-Victim Zones

I'm shocked to discover that if you put a sign saying "This is a weapon-free zone," that doesn't automatically (and magically) keep the bad guys from bringing weapons into that zone. Now I don't expect too many people in Wyoming to be liberal, even if they do work in a hospital. This is not New Jersey.

There have recently been two incidents where people brought knives into psychiatry offices operated by Campbell County Health, in Wyoming. They brought those weapons into the offices despite the fact that there were signs saying to do so was forbidden. None of the staff had any means of protecting themselves or other patients. I think it made it clear to them that wishful thinking doesn't really hold any sway in The Real World™ when it comes to people intent on violence.

In one case the person hurt themselves, in the other police arrived before anyone could be hurt.

Based on just those two incidents, I think it's fair to say that the current policy isn't stopping anyone from bringing a weapon into these facilities. So why should every employee be forced to be disarmed while they're on the clock?

Even though it appears that there's an appetite for change, the hospital system won't be making any immediate moves to revise its current policy.

There is a whole political reason that this is coming up as well. I will leave Liberty Doll to explain it, as she is more eloquent than I can manage.
