Here is the name of someone else you should remember: Elisjsha Dicken.

In July of 2022, Elisjsha Dicken was eating in the food court of an Indiana mall, when a gunman emerged from a bathroom, and opened fire on the crowd. In 15 seconds, marked from the time the gunman opened fire, Mr. Dicken drew his weapon, and shot ten rounds toward the gunman. The autopsy revealed that he had been hit 8 times. He crawled back into the bathroom, where he died.

Families and Activists Don't Like Consequences

And the media mostly goes along for the ride, if it means they get to bash cops. ‘Family Demands Answers’

What was that outcome? Bryan Axel Ramirez Gomez was shot and killed by police when he opened fire on them on Sunday, 15 February 2026 in Elkhart, Indiana.

Say hello to Bryan Axel Ramirez Gomez and, while you’re at it, go ahead and say good-bye, because young Mr. Gomez shuffled off this mortal coil in February, after deciding to start a shootout with police in Elkhart, Indiana, which lasted only three seconds.

Elkhart, Indiana, is about 110 mile drive east of Chicago, Illinois, or about 150 mile drive north of Indianapolis, Indiana.

Mr. Gomez was on parole for a crime he had already been convicted of. That didn't stop him from having 1 gun in his hand. A second firearm, with an illegal auto-switch installed was at his feet.

Gomez knew he was in trouble, and the only way he could think to get out of it was to kill both cops.

Police Chief Accused of Selling Evidence to Pawn Shop

It can be hard to tell the good guys from the bad guys some days. New Chicago, Indiana, police chief accused of selling pawn shop a gun being held as evidence - CBS Chicago

New Chicago police Chief Earl Mayo was charged with theft, official misconduct, and attempted obstruction of justice, as well as unlawful possession of an anabolic steroid, according to court documents.

New Chicago, Indiana is roughly 13 miles east of the Illinois State Line, about 4 miles south of Lake Michigan, 3 miles southeast of Gary, or about a 40 mile drive southeast of downtown Chicago.

The gun was a Taurus G3. It was sold to the Mega Cash Pawn shop in Hobart, Indiana. (Hobart is just to the south of New Chicago.) He apparently sold 12 guns to the pawn shop over several years. No one said those were from evidence or problematic.

In a bit if irony, his father is running for Sheriff of the local county, Lake County, Indiana. The father and mother issued a statement that basically says, if he's found guilty, then he has to face the consequences.

Concealed Carry in Indiana

He was a rowdy bar patron. Violence at South Side tavern leads to Muncie man's shooting, arrest

According to an affidavit, city police were called to the Red Dog Saloon, 1600 W. 23rd St., about 8:45 p.m. after Scott "became belligerent with an employee ... punching at her from across the bar."

He went on to attack several employees and bar patrons, with various items including bar stools. He ended up sending a couple to the hospital. Eventually, someone had enough.

The officer reviewing the video said Scott then armed himself with a pool cue and broke it over the head of a female victim.

The Muncie man was reportedly continuing to strike the woman with the broken cue when one of the other victims shot him, apparently in the buttocks.

After that he left, but cops picked him up and took him to the hospital for treatment of his gunshot wound, and then they took him to the county lockup.

This guy is charged with two counts of aggravated battery, four counts of battery with a deadly weapon, and three counts of battery by bodily waste, for spitting on people.

The guy who did the shooting was not arrested, because Indiana is not New Jersey.

People You Know Can Be a Threat

The gun-hating part of the Left loves to go on about the fact that if you own a gun, you are more likely to shoot someone you know than a complete stranger. There is a very good reason for that. This story is about a mother and her two adult sons. So not just someone known to them, but family.

Around 5:40 a.m. the Floyd County Sheriff's Office (FCSO) received reports about a domestic altercation at an apartment on Mel Smith Road, just outside of New Albany. According to the FCSO, shots were fired moments before deputies arrived on scene.

Upon arrival, deputies immediately performed first aid to an adult male who had been shot.

Cops provided first aid to the guy who got shot, and had him transported to a local hospital, but he died from his injuries.

Preliminary reports indicate the shooting may have happened out of self-defense.

While this is a case involving family, the set of people you know, can be quite large. The guy at your favorite coffee shop. A disgruntled ex-employee. Ex-boyfriend or girlfriend turned stalker. etc. These are all people you know, and everyone of them can be a threat to life or safety.

The claim of the gun-hating part of the Left about people you know, is not to illuminate the subject of self-defense, but to make people afraid of it. And while this will certainly be viewed as a tragedy by the family involved, if it is in fact self-defense, it was also necessary. Do you defend yourself, or a family memeber from another family member, or let the agressor kill someone?

New Albany, Indiana, and Floyd County, are just across the Ohio River from Louisville, Kentucky.

Woman Shoots Man Assaulting Her

To the Gun-Hating part of the Left: Do you want to explain your, "Just give them what they want" mantra? Woman shoots, kills man during alleged sexual assault in Cumberland

No means no. This guy will never learn that lesson.

According to preliminary investigation, the man and woman were known to each other, and the man was invited to the home. At some point, the man made several unwanted sexual advances toward the woman, and she attempted to create distance from him. The man then followed her into a separate room, where a sexual assault began to take place. During that assault, the woman was able to retrieve her firearm and fire one shot in self-defense.

Cops arrived and had the guy transported to a trauma center for emergency surgery. He died of his injuries. The woman was treated for injuries at a local hospital.

Cumberland, Indiana is a suburb of Indianapolis, about 10 miles east of downtown.

Cops don't make determinations on charges, and the investigation has only begun, but this seems pretty clear based on the reporting.

Back to the gun-hating part of the Left. How is this situation better if she doesn't have a firearm? Also, how does cooperating with the criminal make things better in this case? I would love for someone to explain the position of the Left on self-defense, but I'm not expecting them to do so.

People You Know Can Be a Threat

The gun-hating part of the Left (it is not all of the Left) loves to go on about how if you own a gun, you are statistically more likely to shoot someone you know than a perfect stranger. They clearly want you to believe that someone you know could never be a threat, but that is a lie. Prosecutor dismisses murder charge against brother as self-defense

This week, the Marion County Prosecutor dismissed the murder charge against the shooter as a case of self-defense, as the man claimed his brother was attacking him.

Marion County, Indiana is home to Indianapolis.

As for the people you know argument. People you know is a big category. In this case it was a family member, but that class of people includes such things as, ex-boyfriends, ex-girlfriends, etc., the disgruntled ex-employee, the creepy guy who hangs out at your favorite coffee shop, and more. Just because you know them, indeed even if you are related to them, that does not mean that they can never pose a real threat to your well being.

So when the gun-hating part of the Left starts in on People You Know, remind them that doesn't really mean anything, except that you are more likely to face a threat from someone you know.

In the meantime, self-defense is a human right, and it appears to be your legal right in Indiana.

He Was Told to Leave

If an armed homeowner tells you to leave, you should leave. 30-year-old dies in shooting after trespassing dispute in Sullivan County | WISH-TV

The release [from Indiana State Police] said, “Gehring was trespassing on private property and was told numerous times by the property owner to leave. A physical altercation occurred between the property owner and Gehring, resulting in Gehring being shot.”

If you get the chance to leave, why not take it?

Mr. Gehring was taken to a local hospital, and then airlifted to a trauma center in Indianapolis, but he did not survive his wounds.

Sullivan County, with 20,700 residents, is about a 1-hour, 45-minute drive southwest of downtown Indianapolis.

Self-defense is a human right, and Indiana has a history of respecting it as a legal right. That said, the Sullivan County DA has not yet made a determination about charges.

Evansville police were first alerted to the incident, which Aussieker described as a "burglary in progress," by the homeowner just after 1:45 p.m. Tuesday.

"The caller stated three subjects broke into their home and their son shot one of them," Aussieker wrote in a news release. "The caller did not believe the person who had been shot was alive. The two remaining subjects fled the scene."

Evansville, Indiana is about a 120 mile drive west of Louisville, Kentucky, or about a 175 mile drive southwest of Indianapolis.

The shooter is cooperating with the investigation, and has not been arrested.

If You Break Into Homes...

Eventually, you will run into an armed homeowner. Henry County Sheriff says homeowner shot intruder in face. That will ruin your day.

A little before 2 a.m. [Friday, April 25th], deputies were called to a home in the 9300 block of South 175 East after a homeowner called 911. The homeowner said a suspicious male was banging on his windows and doors and trying to gain entry to the house.

The suspect allegedly busted out a window and attempted to crawl into the residence but was met with the barrel of a gun.

Henry County, Indiana is roughly a 60 mile drive east of downtown Indianapolis.

The guy who got shot is listed in stable condition, though he had to initially be airlifted to a trauma center.

While the investigation will go on for some time, Indiana has a long history of respecting the right of self-defense.

Given all of that, you have to wonder what compelled this guy to break into a home.

Another Failure of the Victim-Selection Process

According to a press release from the Martinsville Police Department, officers were called to the 500 block of West Pike Street around 1:30 p.m. to investigate an attempted burglary. When police arrived at the scene, they determined a homeowner shot and killed a would-be burglar.

Martinsville, Indiana is about a 30 mile drive southwest of Indianapolis.

Also, Indiana has a long history of recognizing the right of self-defense.

Self-Defense Is Legal in Indiana

I haven't seen whether or not this guy was fired from his job. No charges filed for shooter at Greenfield Amazon facility | WTHR. This incident took place in the middle of December.

A guy was working at an Amazon facility in Indianapolis, when another guy, also an Amazon employee, though not schedule to work that day, started a confrontation in the break room. The first guy tried to leave, to deescalate the situation, but the second guy was not having any of it.

The shooter then left Amazon and tried to "disengage from any confrontation," the release said. While the shooter was waiting for his ride to leave the Amazon facility, Riley followed.

The release said Riley "aggressively closed distance" on the shooter, creating "fear of injury" for the shooter.

The shooter then drew his gun and Riley said "I ain't worried about no gun" and continued to charge at the shooter and reaching into his pants as if he were also going to draw a gun, the release said.

The DA finally decided that they couldn't win, so the ruled self-defense. Hancock County Prosecutor Brent Eaton made the following statement:

Given the totality of the evidence in this case it is clear that Unnamed Shooter made multiple attempts to disengage from Riley. It is also clear that at the time of the shooting the Unnamed Shooter had reason to believe that force was necessary to prevent serious bodily injury to himself from Riley.

I'm not sure why it took two and a half months to make that determination. Maybe he was waiting on police reports, or an autopsy, but my guess is that the DA hates self-defense was hoping something would turn up that could lead to a prosecution. Most DAs hate self-defense, and they care little for Justice; they like to win.

They Suffered from a Failure of the Victim-Selection Process

According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, a 911 call was received at 3:48 a.m., Dec. 26 from a home on North Bulldog Drive in Madison from a man who said he had shot two people that had broken into his home.

Madison, Indiana is a town on The Ohio River, which is also the border between Indiana and Kentucky. It is about 50 miles southwest of Cincinnati, about 40 miles north-northeast of Louisville, or about 80 miles south-southeast of Indianapolis. Those distances will be longer if you are driving.

Deputies found two men dead at the home. They have been identified as Dalton Keith Skirvin, 27, and Kaleb Adam Skirvin, 29, both of Madison.

I assume that the two are related, but the report doesn't say anything about that.

And of course Dalton Skirvin was known to law enforcement.

Dalton faced numerous theft and burglary charges back in 2017 and 2018.

Neighbors reported a string of burglaries in the area.

Threats didn't get this guy anything he wanted. Amazon facility in Greenfield shut down Friday after reported shooting

He was apparently convinced that he was a tough guy.

Riley [the guy who got shot] reportedly confronted the shooter inside the Amazon facility and “threatened to cause physical harm to the shooter.” The release said that the shooter left the building and was waiting on a ride in the parking lot when Riley approached him and made additional aggressive remarks.

He didn't just talk, but he "approached the shooter in an aggressive manner."

And so, you make threats, and appear to follow up on them. That is when a reasonable person will consider you to be an imminent threat of death or grave bodily injury.

So he got shot.

According to the office, officials said that it appeared to be an isolated incident between the two people, stating that the “shooting appears to be in self-defense.”

If a Gun Had Been Involved, The Gun Grabbers Would Be Screaming

Since it was a knife he used, this won't be a big news story. Or hardly any news story. Young man allegedly kills older brother over $10

Both parties were in the wrong. Stealing from your brother is wrong. Killing your brother is wrong. But society in the 21st Century isn't built on morals. (Both of those are covered by the Ten Commandments, and other religious doctrines as well.) It also isn't built on rationality, only on emotion. He took ten bucks. The other guy was mad, and acted out. He regretted it immediately, but some things you can't take back.

Caleb Xavier Ingram, 21, stands accused of one count of murder, according to Madison County Sheriff’s Department records.

The defendant is believed to have almost immediately regretted the argument and the rare bout of violent rage, police say.

"Rare bout of violent rage," you say. I doubt that. I suppose it is possible, but most people don't go straight to murder. Over 10 bucks.

The incident occurred late in the evening on Oct. 30 at a residence on East Second Street in Anderson, a medium-sized city some 40 miles northeast of Indianapolis.

Your Crazy Doesn't Trump My Right to Self-Defense

As The Other McCain points out, on a regular basis, crazy people are dangerous. Man killed in apparent self-defense shooting in Daviess County - here's what police said

He showed up at a home, armed, and started arguing with the homeowner.

When Goble [the homeowner] said he noticed Wilson [the argumentative guy] was pointing a gun at home, Gobile fired his weapon twice at Wilson. Wilson got back into his vehicle but later died due to his injuries.

Wilson was identified as someone with "mental health issues."

Daviess County, Indiana, is roughly 65 miles southwest of Indianapolis, and 65 miles west-northwest of Lexington, Kentucky.

Now you could say a lot about the way we do, or more often don't, treat mental illness. But back in the '70s after One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest because a hit movie, the powers that be decided to get rid of mental institutions. And so there are a lot of crazy people running around. When they pose a danger, you have the right to defend yourself.

The cops have not arrested anyone, but they don't make determinations about charges. Ultimately the DA's office makes that decision. That said, if they thought the homeowner was guilty of something, the cops probably would have charged him with something.

Self-Defense Is Legal in Indiana

I thought it was, but you can never really be sure that the prosecutors will see it that way. Sheriff believes shooting outside Camby Walmart in June was self-defense

In the afternoon of June 2nd, two men got into a verbal altercation at a Walmart. That escalated and ended with one man dead.

Deputies arrived on scene and found a man in the parking lot suffering from a gunshot wound to his torso. The wounded man ended up dying from his wound after being transported to the hospital. He was later identified as Matthew Steele, 34, of Indianapolis.

Camby, Indiana is about 5 miles southwest of the beltway (Interstate 465) that encircles Indianapolis, and it is about 11 miles southwest of downtown.

The guy who got shot did not survive his wounds. Police detained the shooter, but later released him.

The Hendricks County Sheriff’s Department said that after a thorough investigation, evidence of self-defense was found leading to the prosecutor to decline pressing criminal charges against the shooter.

Self-defense in Small Town Indiana

ISP: Homeowner shoots and kills man breaking into Indiana home

As I have mentioned before, Indiana is a state that recognizes the right to defend yourself, and your family. Two adults and a child were in the home when this guy broke in.

Indiana State Police tell Local 12 news that a homeowner on Searcy Ridge Road, shot Aaron Snyder, 41, after Snyder allegedly broke in through a door Sunday night.

Patriot, Indiana is a town on the Indiana, Kentucky state line, which is the Ohio River. It is about 20 miles southwest of downtown Cincinnati, though it is about 52 miles by car, according to Apple maps, if you take the back roads. The trip is longer, but faster, if you stay on the interstates as much as possible. ^‡

Although the cops are treating this like self-defense, it will be the Switzerland County Prosecutor's office that makes the final call.

Self-defense is a human right, and this did not take place in New York City.

‡ There is this thing in Cincinnati, where roads cannot go in a straight line, due mostly to the river, though I'm convinced they take a perverse joy in making sure that people are lost as much as possible.

An armed man entered a home. He was confronted by the male homeowner, and shot several times. He died at the scene.

So far a typical home invasion/self-defense story.

Officers at the scene were told that the intruder was previously in a relationship with the female homeowner. It is unclear why the man entered the home.

I'm going to go out on a limb and assume he was pissed off because she left him, and he was going to kill her, the man in the home, and maybe the kids as well. There were 2 kids in the home.

People need to come to terms with the statement, "It's over."

This took place in the town of Yoder, Indiana. Yoder is about a 10 mile drive from downtown Fort Wayne, Indiana, or about 120 mile drive north-northeast of Indianapolis.

The cops didn't arrest anyone, but the DA will make the decision about any charges after the autopsy is complete, and the cops submit their report.

Indiana School Not Taking Bullying Seriously Even After Tragedy

After this kid killed himself over bullying at the school, Greenfield-Central Community School Corporation doesn't want to get reports about others being bullied.

Justin Henderson, the father of Sammy’s friend Josh, told NewsNation he went to his son’s school Friday morning to submit a “bullying report” over his son’s treatment. The school says Henderson, called the police and he was escorted out of the building.

If they take the report of bullying, then they might have to actually do something to put it to an end. This way they can say "we didn't know," or some other bullshit.

As someone or another said, time to homeschool kids, at least in that district.
