How Should a Woman Defend Herself From Her Ex?

Two self-defense shootings in one day in Philadelphia. Intruders shot in separate Philadelphia shootings during attempted break-in, home invasion, police say - 6abc Philadelphia

I keep hoping that someone from the gun-hating part of the Left (it isn't all of the Left) will tell me what a woman should do in a situation like this. I'm not holding my breath.

The other shooting in this story, I covered yesterday in a separate post. This incident took place around midnight on Monday morning.

In a separate overnight shooting, Philadelphia police say a 33-year-old man was shot while trying to break into his ex's home in Parkside.

After she shot him, he showed up at a local convenience store with multiple gunshot wounds. She called 911 to report the incident.

"The male was trying to enter her property through the front window, and that the male was a former domestic partner of hers. Female said she didn't know who it was and she fired shots," Captain Louise Higginson, with the Philadelphia Police Department, said.

The investigation is in early days.

People need to understand the sentence, "It's over." The gun-hating Left needs to say what she should have done aside from defending herself. (If your Ex shows up in the middle of the night, and tries to break in, I don't think they are looking to have a long talk, but I'm a cynic.)

Self-Defense in Philadelphia

Is legal self-defense becoming more common in the Blue Cities, or am I just noticing it more? Police: Man shot dead after forcing his way into Northeast Philly home

How should the law-abiding citizens of Philadelphia react to someone breaking into their homes at about one o'clock in the morning? This incident happened at ten minutes past one.

Investigators believe the shooting happened after the victim forced his way into the home and a struggle ensued with someone inside the property, during which, the man was shot.

Officials said the man -- who police did not immediately provide additional identifying information on -- was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced at about 1:39 a.m.

The cops haven't said that this is self-defense, but then those determinations are made by the District Attorney's office, and I have no understanding of where the current Philadelphia DA stands on the issue of self-defense. The description they provided makes this incident sound like justified self-defense to me, but I'm no lawyer.

Self-defense is a human right, and it just might be your legal right.

Another Failure of the Victim-Selection Process

If an armed homeowner asks you to leave, or to stop breaking in, you should leave. Homeowner shoots, kills woman trying to break into North Philadelphia home, police say - CBS Philadelphia

It was the middle of the afternoon. She was trying to break into the house through a back window.

[Philadelphia Police Department Inspector] Pace said one of the people inside, who police believe is licensed to carry, warned the woman to stop, but she refused. That's when the homeowner shot the woman, Pace said.

She was declared dead at a local hospital at 2 PM.

Even in deep-blue Philadelphia, the police are treating this like it is justified, though the police are quick to point out that the DA makes the determination on charges.

Self-defense is a human right.

Concealed Carry in Philadelphia

As people realize that the police in Blue Cities can do nothing, they are relying more on themselves. Man claims self-defense in shooting at SEPTA train station in North Philadelphia, police say

How would you respond to a stranger attacking you on a train for no reason?

"The entire incident involving this shooting was captured on video cameras, SEPTA video cameras that were on the train itself," said Pace. "And what it shows is the decedent pacing up and down the railcard when it appears without any provocation whatsoever, began to strike the man who ultimately fired the weapon several times in the face, actually knocked him to the ground and continued to strike him."

The guy who got shot did not survive.

The reporter seems confused that the police didn't arrest the shooter. They also seem concerned that there was no motive, as if "random violence" is not something they see in Kiladelphia.

Self-defense is a human right.

Another Failure of the Victim-Selection Process

In Philadelphia of all places. Man shot multiple times by homeowner after allegedly trying to break into home in Philadelphia's Kensington section, police say - 6abc Philadelphia

A man was shot multiple times by a homeowner after he was allegedly trying to break into a home in Philadelphia's Kensington section.

The guy who got shot was taken to the hospital, and he is expected to survive. The cops didn't wait for him to be released, and they arrested him and are holding him in custody while he is in hospital.

Kiladelphia is a Blue City, so it isn't clear, to me anyway, how the DA views self-defense in that city.

So far, no charges have been filed against homeowner.

Which tells me that the cops are mostly on the side of self-defense.

Kensington is an area of Philadelphia that is low income, at least according to the WiKi. Does the DA think that poor people have the right to defend themselves? I would like to say, "We'll see," but I doubt that the media will write another word about this incident.

Self-defense is a human-right.

This Sounds Like Self-Defense to Me...

But in Philadelphia the cops apparently don't think that way. Woman in custody after man shot to death in Northeast Philly home

In an update on Sunday morning, police said the woman, who has been taken into custody, told police that the shooting happened after her 38-year-old husband returned to the home after leaving a week prior.

In his return, police said the woman claimed her husband forced his way into the home after kicking in the front and back doors of the property.

After forcing his way in, he threatened her. She shot him.

Now this is probably complicated by the fact that they are married, but if he left, and came back, I'm sure that there is much more to the story. It sounds all too much like domestic violence cases always sound.

Only time will tell what the DA thinks of this case. Not of the facts, or of Justice, but if he thinks he can Win then she will be charged. DAs hate self-defense.

How Should a 70-Year-Old Man Defend Himself?

If not with a firearm that is. I wish the gun-hating Left would explain, but I'm not expecting them to do so. Man killed during burglary attempt in Point Breeze home, police say

How would you deal with an intruder in you home at 1:30 in the morning?

In a noon update, law enforcement officials said the 70-year-old homeowner was cooperating with the investigation and investigators believe the man who died was killed during an attempted burglary.

This is yet another failure of the victim-selection process. Maybe he thought it would be easy to steal from a 70-year-old.

Point Breeze is a neighborhood in Philadelphia.

Even in Deep Blue Philadelphia it would seem that legal self-defense is a thing.

The cops seem a bit confused, or they did early on, anyway, but they are starting to see more self-defense, and seem to have gotten there in the end.

The investigation continues, and the DA will make any determination about charges. Still, self-defense is a human right.

Without the means of self-defense, the old and the infirm will be preyed upon by the young and the violent. That seems to be the world that the Left wants to reintroduce.

Of Course There Was a Riot in ‘Killadelphia’

From The Other McCain we get a story that doesn't surprise me at all. A Celebration in ‘Killadelphia’

Celebration or riot? Killadelphia or Philadelphia? "A rose by any other name ..." A bunch of people they don't know, and will never meet won a sportsball competition. Or something.

Dana Pico of First Street Journal is where I first heard the term Killadelphia, but I don't know where it was first used.

First we start with the story of an 18-year-old Temple University student who died "tragically."

The adverb “tragically” is doing a lot of work in that sentence, but rather than digress on that topic — the intersection where FAFO meets the Darwin Awards — permit me to note the location of Sunday night’s “celebration” (by which I mean, riot) in Philadelphia.

Trump didn't get much of the vote in the area surrounding Penn Square, but then no one expected him to do well in a deep blue city.

There is more. Click through for more details on the "tragic" death, to various things that unify the people of Pennsylvania's 3rd District.

The Other McCain reminds us that this was an unofficial "celebration." The official parade is today. It is going on as I type this. I'm sure it will be better organized.

Armed Self-Defense - Ring Camera Edition

They had advance warning of someone trying to gain entry to their home. Philadelphia homeowner shoots, kills attempted intruder noticed on home's Ring camera, police say - CBS Philadelphia

How would you react to an uninvited guest at 11 PM?

Early warning is a good thing.

Police said the homeowners, a couple in their 60s, noticed a trespasser on their Ring camera who appeared to be tampering with the front door, Chief Inspector Scott Small told reporters.

Then the homeowner armed himself and confronted the individual.

Police believe the male homeowner fired at the suspect, hitting him in the chest. He was taken to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center and pronounced dead at 11:13 p.m.

When officers arrived at the home, they found the front door damaged and the Ring camera had been pulled out of the wall.

The homeowner has not been arrested because self-defense is becoming more of a thing in the Blue Cities, as civilization crumbles.

Don't Bring a Toy Gun to a Gunfight

Things won't work out for you. From The Truth About Guns - Pennsylvania Teen With Toy Gun Shot During Attempted Robbery

The victim and his girlfriend were taking a walk around 11 PM on September 29th near the 2200 block of Emerald Street in East Kensington, Pennsylvania, when they were approached by a teenager who pressed a fake gun into the man’s back, informing him that he was being robbed. The area, colloquially known as Kenzo by those familiar with the “City of Brotherly Love” is less of the perfect backdrop for a romantic Sunday evening stroll and more appropriate for scoring fentanyl and having a “tranq” injection at the open-air drug market for the low low price of $2. Disease-free needles not included. But I digress.

The man started to comply getting his keys and wallet out of his pockets. Then he drew his firearm, turned around and shot the teen in the leg.

While the man and his girlfriend were unharmed, the teen took an expensive ride to the hospital but was pronounced to be in stable condition, hopefully learning a lesson, albeit a painful one. As a bonus to being chauffeured to safety, the 16-year-old was subsequently given a shiny new pair of interlocked bracelets and taken into custody by authorities. Police say the toy gun was recovered at the scene.

Cops are looking for a second perpetrator.

East Kensington, Pennsylvania is a neighborhood in Philadelphia. It is only a couple of miles from downtown.

While in this case, shooting someone in the leg appears to have worked out, center-of-mass is much better target, even at close range. And while self-defense is becoming more of a thing in Killadelphia, I'm not really sure how the prosecutors in that town react to it.

This all happened at the end of September, but it seems to have slipped through my news filters at the time. That's okay though, because The Truth About Guns is usually entertaining. (Click thru for a few comments about the Darwin Awards.)

Self-Defense Is Legal in Philadelphia

In the Blue Cities, it is hard to be sure. No charges will be filed in fatal Society Hill Towers shooting because resident acted in self-defense, police say.

And this is another example of how people you know can be a threat.

Police said a homeowner in the West Tower of the complex shot Omar Littlejohn multiple times, killing him, after Littlejohn threatened him with a knife. Littlejohn, 31, of Kensington, was a guest of the man who shot him after a confrontation in the hallway of the building, police said.

The gun-hating part of the Left loves to go on at length about how you are more likely to shoot someone you know, than a complete stranger, if you own a gun. They say that as though people you know could never be a threat. Just so we're clear, "people you know" includes, the following:

  • An ex who has morphed into a violent stalker
  • The creepy guy from the coffee shop who won't leave you alone
  • A disgruntled ex-employee

I'm sure you can think of other examples of people you know.

Police recovered a gun from inside the apartment and took the resident into custody. The homeowner, whom police did not identify, told investigators he fired the shots to protect himself after Littlejohn threatened him with a knife.

Oh, and the neighbors were shocked. They almost always are.

The gunfire shook residents of the three-tower complex of luxury apartments and condominiums set on five acres.

The truly amazing thing about this story, is that the police, and the DA in a Deep Blue City, Philadelphia, made this determination in under one month. It can take prosecutors close to a year to make this determination. Why? Because they hate self-defense.

Self-defense is a human right.

Self-Defense in Philadelphia Seems to Be Catching On

From Philadelphia and WCAU NBC10: Armed passenger shot by other driver in Philly road rage. Police say it was justified.

A teenager was hospitalized after being shot several times -- including in the head -- in what Philadelphia police said was a self-defense shooting that stemmed from a road rage incident.

The occupants of a Honda Accord and of a Ford Explorer got into an "argument." A passenger got out of the Honda and pointed a gun at the driver of the Ford.

The Ford driver used his driver-side door to shield himself as "he exited his vehicle and fired his weapon several times at the suspect," police said.

The guy got back into the Honda and the driver sped off, police said. The Ford driver -- who has a license to carry a firearm -- remained on the scene for police officers to arrive.

With general levels of law and order breaking down in Philadelphia, people are beginning to see a need to provide for their own security. I doubt that the bad guys will get the memo that being a bad guy is now dangerous.

While police were investigating, a 19-year-old with gunshot wounds showed up at a local hospital. Police are holding both him and the car.

Police believe the Ford driver acted in self-defense. They did apparently take both his firearm and his vehicle as evidence. (The process is the punishment.)

Ratted Out By Their Own Flesh and Blood

From The Other McCain we get a story from Philadelphia. ‘Don’t Ever Take Sides With Anyone Against the Family Again. Ever.’

For once it doesn't focus on the violent crime running rampant in that city.

A brilliant scam, ruined because their own flesh and blood betrayed them to the feds! What part of omerta do I have to explain to these kids?

Democrats and Philadelphia - 72 Years of Destroying a City

From The First Street Journal: After 72 uninterrupted years in power, Democrats have kept Philly our nation’s poorest big city

The city of Philadelphia has been governed by Democrats for decades: the last Republican mayor left office while Harry Truman was President of the United States.

Are we shocked?

Self-defense in Philadelphia

As the state (or in this case the city) loses its ability to provide order, people will defend themselves. Philadelphia shooting: Would-be carjacker killed in apparent case of self-defense, police say

According to police, the deceased was one of two individuals who attempted to carjack a 38-year-old man in the former United Artist Theater parking lot.

The victim pulled a weapon and shot one of the would-be carjackers in what police say looks like a case of self-defense.

Cops briefly detained the shooter, but he was released.

There are some comments by people who live in the area, including one person who said she has called police about illegal activity, mostly drugs, in the area, but she hasn't gotten much response from the police.

Self-defense is a human-right. It seems that the good people of Philadelphia are losing faith in The System™ to control crime. Given that the system isn't controlling crime, it is hard to fault them.

Self-defense in Killadelphia

Another failure of the victim-selection process. Suspected thief tries to rob Philadelphia convenience store with deadly result | Fox News

Philadelphia police say that a 28-year-old man wearing a face mask and gloves entered the Happy Day Food Market & Deli on the 1300 block of South 58th Street just after 10:30 pm on Wednesday, according to Fox 29. The suspect allegedly ducked behind the cash register and began taking money while pointing a gun at employees, CBS News reported.

An employee of the store, described as a man in his early 20s, pulled out his own firearm and fired multiple shots at the suspect.

The would-be bad guy died at the scene.

The employee reportedly obtained firearms training and a license following a previous robbery at the convenience store, Fox 29 reported.

No charges have been filed against the clerk, because with the way things are going in Philadelphia, the police are getting used to the idea of legal self-defense.

While the investigation continues, self-defense is a human-right.

Some Days the Universe Does Appear to Have a Sense of Humor

A black, ironic sense of humor, but still... From The Other McCain we get a bit of ironic Karma. Update From the Dept. of Ironic Crime.

This is the story of Josh Kruger, a Philadelphia journalist who mocked the idea of urban crime causing danger in Blue Cities. Josh Kruger was shot 7 times in his home in Philadelphia.

It would be wrong to yield to the temptation of schadenfreude in such a case, but having spent some time delving through Josh Kruger’s social media, I’ve got to say that he seemed utterly obsessed with challenging what he often called “myths” about the danger of urban violence.

And while I'm tempted to quote more, you should click thru for more details, including The Other McCain's 2 rules for a happy life.

That is one of 2 ironic stories covered. You should also click thru for that.

The Other McCain gets the last word. OK, maybe not the LAST word.

Let me be clear: Murder is bad. I am anti-murder, and no one should think that I am happy to see left-wingers getting murdered like this. Also, I am anti-carjacking, and thus cannot be accused of celebrating when a Democratic congressmen gets carjacked at gunpoint in D.C. My point in calling attention to these cases is not to advocate in favor of violence against liberals, but rather to say that, when Democrats support soft-on-crime policies, they seldom expect that they personally will suffer as a consequence of the ill-considered policies they embrace.

Aside from crime, the impacts of the Open Borders/Sanctuary City movement is another case of "We didn't think this would impact our northern cities!" phenomenon.

He Suffered from a Failure of the Victim-selection Process

Civilization was nice while it lasted. Off-duty corrections officer turns tables on would-be carjacker, shoot him at Philadelphia gas station

The 35-year-old female victim was pumping gas for her 2018 black BMW just after 10:30 p.m. in North Philadelphia when the 22-year-old Black male suspect approached her at gunpoint and demanded her keys, the Philadelphia Police Department said.

A struggle ensued and despite being knocked to the ground, she was able to draw her own weapon. They both sustained injuries.

Officers on patrol heard the gunshots and rushed to the gas station, where they found the suspect lying on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds. A handgun was recovered from underneath him.

They both were taken to a local hospital in stable condition. He was arrested at the hospital.

Philadelphia, which is being called "Killadelphia" by more people every day, is showing the cracks in civilization. It is approaching what Hobbes wrote about in his book Leviathan. This is not a new idea. Hobbes published Leviathan in 1651. In that book he describes the State of War that ensues when law and order break down.

Western Civilization is built on a foundation of law and order. Without law and order, you can't have nice things. You can't have anything really. Or as Hobbes stated it, when there is no force-of-law to keep people in check, things break down. No one will save or build if things can be stolen or destroyed on a whim. Philadelphia displays that, as does the exodus of retail from places like San Francisco, that have decided shoplifting is perfectly OK.

In any event, self-defense is a human-right. I'm glad she had the training and the weapon to fight off this attack.

Zombieland, Pennsylvania

Our major cities have turned into dystopian waste lands. Benny Johnson, a YouTube creator that I sometimes like and sometimes hate, took a trip to Pennsylvania. I would say it is shocking, except for the fact that I've seen too many things like that on YT and elsewhere in the past 5 years or more. (See Seattle is Dying (2019) for starters.)

Kensington is a neighborhood in Philadelphia.

OK, so this has been in my drafts for a week or so. Still worth looking at.

This is the Benny Johnson video I Survived the City of REAL Zombies....

I went to real life 'Zombieland' right here in America: Kensington Philadelphia - Ground zero of one of the most deadly crises in the country. This is what I saw...

Pizza Delivery Driver Defends Himself from Armed Robbers

Philadelphia is probably a tough place to deliver pizza. Lawlessness is completely out of hand. I'm not sure it is all that different than any other city. Maybe it is different in degree, but lawlessness is breaking out all over the place. Pizza delivery driver shoots would-be carjacker in the butt, Pennsylvania police say.

The journalists - or whoever it was that wrote the headline - make it sound like the bad guy was alone, and was shot while he was running away. He wasn't alone.

Two armed men in masks confronted the 21-year-old driver as he was delivering food, according to NBC 10, citing police.

After forcing him into his car, the pair demanded money and asked if the driver had access to funds on his phone, according to the outlet.

He was able to draw his own weapon and shoot one of his attackers, who police found and took to the hospital. The other is hiding from police.

This is the Colion Noir video Armed Pizza Delivery Driver In Philly Shoots 2 Armed Masked Robbers.

Colion Noir has some interesting things to say about the mayor of Killadelphia, and how the mayor is somewhat out-of-touch with the reality of living in his once-great city.
