He Suffered a Breakdown of the Victim-selection Process

He invaded an occupied home. That was probably a mistake. Home invasion robbery in Quincy leaves one suspect dead, another at large.

He was 19; in other words, he was a legal adult. Will the Left call this a "teenager tragically shot?" Probably. (Don't clutter the issue with facts!)

A young man was shot by a homeowner after deputies say two suspects attempted a home invasion robbery in Quincy Sunday morning, according to the Gadsden County Sheriff's Office.

Self-defense is a human-right, and usually it is your legal right in Florida.

How Is That Bail Reform Working Out?

Because keeping criminals in jail is unfair. Man escaped from electronic monitoring to kill the only witness in a pending murder case, prosecutors say - CWB Chicago

When two men killed another man inside Mutasim Sulieman’s convenience store in 2016, Sulieman was the only eyewitness. Prosecutors eventually charged two men with the slaying, and on May 1, 2019, attorneys told the judge overseeing the case that they were ready for trial.

Three days later, Sulieman locked up his store and headed toward his car. He didn’t make it because a masked man walked up behind him and shot him dead.

It was a contract killing arranged between one of the guys in jail for the original murder, and a guy who was on electronic monitoring for a gun case.

Click thru for the details. What was said in jailhouse calls. DNA evidence that the public defender dismisses. And more.

This is part of what CWB Chicago calls The “not horrible” series.

This report continues our coverage of individuals accused of killing, shooting, or trying to kill or shoot others while on bond for a pending felony case. CWBChicago began our series of reports in November 2019 after Cook County Chief Judge Timothy Evans publicly stated, “we haven’t had any horrible incidents occur” under the court’s bond reform initiative.

Oh, and you should also click thru to see the percentage of shootings and murders in Chicago where charges are filed.

“A Special Type of Stupid”

Ruined Leon never fails to inform and entertain. I could post a link to every one of his videos and not feel bad, but this video stands out.

There is a movement on the Left to make self-defense illegal. If someone breaks into your home or your place of business, you should just give them all the stuff, because equity and fairness demand it. Or some other bullshit. Leon thinks those people are a special kind of stupid.

This is Ruined Leon's video: Please Stop Defending Criminals PEOPLE NEED GUNS FOR SELF DEFENSE

Another Law DA Alvin Bragg Will Not Prosecute

Transit workers in NYC are being attacked. Color me shocked. New law increases penalties for attacks on all MTA workers

All MTA workers will now be included in a state law that imposes stiffer penalties on those who attack transit workers, Gov. Kathy Hochul said Monday.

The law, which makes attacking an MTA employee second-degree assault, was previously limited to train conductors and operators. It will now encompass 11,000 total workers including “customer assistants, ticket or revenue collectors, maintenance workers, repairers, cleaners, and their supervisors,” the governor said.

You can pass all the fancy laws you want, but if Alan Bragg, the DA for a big part of NYC, won't prosecute, what have you accomplished aside from a great photo op?

The MTA workforce has faced an average of two assaults and dozens of incidents of harassments per week this year, according to publicly available MTA stats.

Where there is no fear of consequences, crime will increase. And in NYC (and Chicago and elsewhere) there are no consequences.

They Suffered from a Breakdown of the Victim-selection Process

They apparently thought it was a good idea to break into an occupied home; they were wrong. Arizona homeowner fatally shoots 2 intruders: police | Fox News

A Phoenix, Arizona homeowner shot and killed two men who were attempting to break into the home Saturday morning, police said, according to reports.

Cops detained the people in the home, and questioned them. But turned them loose after getting some details of self-defense.

The case will be referred to the DA's office for final determination of charges.

Self-defense is a human-right, and Arizona is not New Jersey.

Ride Public Transportation? Not Until It's Safe.

The Left loves public transportation, but hate law and order. NYPD reports slashed in the face on subway near Wall Street station

Two men got into an argument onboard a southbound 2 train as it approached the Wall Street station around 12:20 a.m., cops said.

The dispute escalated and the suspect cut the 57-year-old victim in the forehead with a razor, police said.

No picture, no video, not even a description of the suspect was provided by the paper, or perhaps by the police. Though cops know where he got off the train, so I assume that they have some video of him. Though none that they care to share.

But there's more. Straphanger slashed in the back during fight on NYC subway, cops say.

The victim was arguing with another male straphanger on a northbound C train at the 81st Street-Museum of Natural History station on the Upper West Side around 11:45 p.m. when the suspect suddenly slashed him in the back, cops said.

The attacker stayed on the train after the attack and was still on the loose early Monday, police said.

And again there is no description. No photo. No video.

Civilization is based on security. In places like NYC that seems to be falling apart.

New York Has an Outbreak of Sanity

This is truly surprising. New York Supreme Court slaps down NYC bill that wanted to let 800,000 foreigners vote | Not the Bee

This latest victory for sanity comes from a very surprising place, the New York Supreme Court.

New York City wanted to let 800,000 "non-citizens" vote in local elections. Because the Left's attack on voting is a conspiracy theory. Except for local elections in NYC. Or something to that effect.

In short, there was absolutely no case for this law in NYC to actually go into effect. It was an utterly pointless virtue signal that only ended up embarrassing the far lefties supporting it.

I guess they were hoping the the "non-citizens" would be more in favor of dismantling law and order in NYC. Or something.

Pride Weekend in Chicago

HeyJackass! brings us Pride Weekend Stupidity. At least how it played out in Chicago.

Typically, this weekend competes with St. Pats or Halloween for the stupidity title up north, especially come Sunday evening, whereas elsewhere continues to do what elsewhere does.

Final Joyful Tally: 8 killed, 33 wounded

Those totals were lower than the past few years. Though they do include one 6-month-old infant who was shot in the head, and died, and one 4-year-old who was beaten to death in a case of child abuse. But the lower number of deaths and shootings will let the powers-that-be celebrate that Crime-Is-Down.

It really was a wonderful city, at one time.

If you want the details, there are links at the article linked above to stories on those two tragedies. And more.

So how bad are things when 8 deaths and 33 shot-and-wounded over a weekend that should be a celebration is a good year?

What Should a Woman Do If She's Attacked in Her Own Home?

I suppose the gun-hating Left would say she should call the police. Or make tea. And this is another case of shooting someone you know. Florida woman shoots and kills intruder after he attacks her in bed.

Are people ignorant of where Clearwater is? Well, in case you are, Clearwater is pretty much due west of Tampa, Florida, or the northern protion of Tampa anyway. It is on the Gulf of Mexico, and in somewhat of a departure for that part of the world, the city includes a barrier island, Clearwater Beach, that in years past was a popular Spring Break destination.

The Clearwater homeowner told police that her 26-year-old neighbor, Justin Wright, broke into her house, entered her bedroom and began attacking her, according to WFTS.

During a struggle, the woman managed to place a frantic call to 911 and request help.

She then got hold of a gun she kept in her house and fatally shot Wright, the department said.

The investigation is on-going, but police have classified it as a case of self-defense. I think that is why the NY Post is so interested; New Yorkers have trouble wrapping their minds around legal self-defense.

So if anyone from the Gun-hating Left reads this, I hope you would explain what this woman should have done while being attacked in her own bedroom. The comments are moderated, but open.

Self-defense is a human-right. Good Guys 1, Bad Guys 0. This incident took place in Florida, where self-defense has a long history.

Seattle Wanted Fewer Police

Now they are dealing with the fallout of fewer police. How Seattle police are changing and prioritizing the way they handle your 911 calls

Seattle PD has lost 400 officers since 2020. 100 "investigators" (detectives) have been moved back to patrol. It isn't enough.

“Things have gotten worse, not better on the 911 response front,” said [Seattle City Councilmember Sara] Nelson. “There’s a huge gap in customer service now and simply there are not enough officers or sergeants that are available to call back.”

So some "low priority" calls, won't even get a callback from police. They don't specify what low priority calls are, but I'm guess it will be things like burglary, where the bad guy is long gone. Fill out the paperwork to satisfy your insurance company, but no one will ever investigate anything. And anything less - what used to be called "quality of life" laws - will just be ignored.

Jim Fuda, Executive Director of Crime Stoppers of Puget Sound, says the failed defund the police experiment has led to the use of “Z protocol.” He’s concerned that without a follow up call or further communication from law enforcement, more people may start taking matters into their own hands.

What should they do? Just be victims of crime? Should women faced by rapists should lay down and spread their legs? Should parents confronted by pedophiles hand over their kids? Or should they exercise their right to defend themselves and their families? I wish someone in the gun-hating Left would state explicitly what citizens should do in the face of violent crime. (I'm not holding my breath.)

Calling 911 is a fine thing to do. They can send all kinds of help your way, if you manage to call before bad things happen. But if there are no police available, you may wait awhile before help arrives. You may wait the rest of your life.

I Actually Thought This Policy Was Already in Place

Why would anyone want to be a Chicago cop right now?

12 Examples of Self-defense

The Left is still upset about the NY Gun law ruling from SCOTUS. So here is the kind of thing to bring up when they claim it isn't about self-defense. 12 Examples of Defensive Gun Use to Show CNN That Second Amendment All About Self-Defense | The Heritage Foundation

Meanwhile, it is not the Second Amendment that was historically racist, but gun control laws that stripped certain segments of the population of any meaningful method of defending their rights. The fact that slaves were disarmed belies Press’ point—their oppressors knew all too well that armed slaves would defend their inalienable rights to life and liberty.

As the numbers prove, the Second Amendment continues to serve today as a bulwark of individual liberty, enabling Americans to protect themselves and others from criminals.

The list of self-defense cases they cite are from May of 2022. I know I covered some of them.

For a much longer list see my Self-defense category of posts. There are more at the 357 Magnum Archives as well, but as you go back farther in time links to local newspapers tend to disappear altogether, or get moved behind a paywall.

My point is, you don't need to limit yourself to May. (Hat tip to Keep and Bear Arms.)

Uvalde Police Screw-up By The Numbers

Not a single Uvalde cop will face any reckoning over what happened. Well the schools' chief of police will probably lose his job, and that is all that will happen. Uvalde police could've stopped shooter 3 minutes after incident began | Marca

Three minutes after the killer entered the Uvalde elementary school, where he shot 19 students and two teachers on May 24, there were already enough armed police officers on the scene to stop him, according to [Colonel Steve McCraw,] the Texas Department of Public Safety's director.

They had enough people. The door was unlocked. But police are not charged with saving you, they are not even charged with saving children. They can't be held accountable for not saving anyone. They can't be held accountable for doing stupid sh*t. They can, in VERY rare circumstances, be held accountable for violating some civil right, but the circumstances are very limited.

Uvalde School District Police Chief Pete Arredondo, according to McCraw, "decided to put the officers' lives before the lives of the children."

You're either cop, or you're little people, and those kids were not cops. Not being cops, they didn't matter. Which is one of the reasons that I believe the chief of police was not interested in protecting those kids, because it meant officers would be in danger.

Remind me where it was determined that the phrase, "I was only following orders," lost its meaning. Of course the difference between the Uvalde Police Department and war criminals from WWII is that the cops won't face any court. Except for the court of public opinion.

Here is the photo of the biggest losers in Uvalde, Texas, also known as the Uvalde Police Department SWAT team. How much did the people spend on those uniforms, and rifles, and the photographer to take this lovely photo? That schools' chief of police is not the only person who should lose his job.

Attack Cops in NYC and DA Bragg Doesn't Care

Why is anyone still a cop in NYC under this DA? DA Alvin Bragg cuts break for women allegedly caught on video attacking NYPD cops

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg cut a break for two women who allegedly attacked NYPD cops in a wild caught-on-video assault — letting one of them off the hook and downgrading the charges for the other, The Post has learned.

Say it again. The attack is on VIDEO. That doesn't impress the soft-on-crime/hates-cops Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg.

There's a quote from a "police source." Can you guess how they feel?

Civilization is built on law and order. Bragg, like DAs in other Blue Cities (funded by Soros) seems determined to undermine law and order, and civilization.

Marvel Finally Shows Its True Colors as Racists

Marvel, and their defenders on the Left, will tell you that they are only trying to make comics "inclusive." In reality a lot of them are just full of stereotypes. But it is for your own good, so the Left doubles down on ANY criticism, as "You are racist/homophobic/whatever" and go on about their day. Or when confronted by someone like Eric July, they tell him that he is mistaken.

But now they are finally being called out for promoting racism, because one of their newest books is full - and it appears to be completely full - of the worst stereotypes of black communities.

Mainstream comic pros are so focused on spitefully angering fans and impressing their fellow ideologues that their efforts backfire. Marvel gets called out for 'What If Miles Morales was Thor?' perpetuating "harmful" stereotypes of black people. [Eric July on Twitter.]

The more I think about this, the more incredibly stupid it is. One guy is apologizing, and promising to donate his salary to charity. But someone approved his concept. Someone got it ready for publication. Someone was working on promotion, at least I assume so. Before the images were leaked. The entire corporation must be tone deaf on the issue of race.

This is the YoungRippa59 (Eric July) video: When you’re right… YOU’RE RIGHT. I love the "It's very... Racey" thumbnail.

Eric July's point is that Miles Morales was always a token, whether as Spider-Man, or Thor, or whoever. It is just that the Left never bothered to read any of the books he was part of. But watch his video; it's 10 minutes, so grab a coffee, or your beverage of choice.

And if Marvel wants to make comics (or movies) more inclusive, why don't they come up with some new characters? So yes, the characters from the 1950s are overwhelmingly white. Why don't they hire a writer to create some new characters? Is there a lack of creativity? (How many characters did Stan Lee create? You can't create 3?)

Eric July isn't the only one who noticed of course. HeelvsBabyface called it WOKE ON WOKE CRIME: Marvel Writer Forced to give REPARATIONS for his Stereotypical Comic!! (He gets the hat tip as well.) The video is 14 and a half minutes

Crazy People Are Dangerous.

And self-defense is legal in Tennessee. Deadly shooting at Nashville convenience store investigated as self-defense

He was having a mental breakdown, and family members were taking him somewhere when he got out of their car. He ended up in a struggle with a convenience store clerk.

Distefano attempted to get into the clerk's vehicle. The clerk tried to get away, but was followed into the store. Distefano saw that he was carrying a gun and threatened to shoot him with it, according to police.

The two wrestled behind the counter and police were told Distefano tried to disarm the clerk. The clerk eventually pulled his pistol and shot Distefano.

While I'm sure this is a tragedy for the dead-guy's family, I am glad it is not a tragedy for the clerk's family.

The investigation continues, but no charges have been brought against the clerk who defended himself.

Self-defense is a human-right.

Richest Man in Illinois Moving to Miami

And taking his business, and probably his charitable giving with him. Ken Griffin's Citadel moving to Miami from Chicago. I'm only about 93% sure that he's the richest man in Illinois, but still...

Are we shocked that people don't want to live and work in Chicago?

Citadel executives have expressed concerns about crime in Chicago, noting a Citadel employee was stabbed a block from the office while walking to work, that someone tried to carjack Griffin’s vehicle, and that protests have occurred outside of the Chicago headquarters.

And he had nice things to say about Miami, and the comparison, left unsaid, with Chicago...

“I am excited to have recently moved to Miami with my family and look forward to rapidly expanding Citadel in a city so rich in diversity and abounding with energy,” Griffin wrote to employees announcing the planned move in a note seen by Reuters. “Miami is a vibrant, growing metropolis that embodies the American Dream.”

1000 people work at that company. And they are not the only ones leaving.

Caterpillar is leaving the northern suburbs for Irving, Texas, and Boeing is planning to move its headquarters to Arlington, Virginia.

Crime, regulations, and taxes. Lori Lightfoot, AKA Mayor Groot, and Kim Foxx still refuse to admit that their policies are increasing crime.

I Am Surprised This Didn't Happen in Florida

But then crazy people are everywhere. Colorado man gets drunk, steals a police vehicle, and responds to 911 calls | Not the Bee

A Lake George, Colorado, man stole an unstaffed Sheriff's vehicle at the Park County Sherriff's office.

Then at around 3:30 a.m. he showed up at a domestic violence call in neighboring Teller County.

It ends predictably with this guy in custody. (The real police showed up at that 911 call shortly after he did.)

Tori Amos came to everyone's attention with her 1992 debut album. I'm not sure when I first heard her work, but I do still own a copy of her 1994 CD, Under The Pink

The thing that most people notice about Tori Amos at first listen is her amazing voice, and this song lets it shine. But she is a tremendous pianist, and the arrangements on this album are amazing.

A study led by Professor Peter Majewski indicated that tens of thousands of old turbines could end up in landfill by the end of the decade.

Worldwide, there could be more than 40 million tonnes of blade waste in landfills by 2050.

Here's a Discovery UK video from 2019 - queued up to the relevant section, on when engineers "discovered" that stuff in the real world needs maintenance.

But back to the article linked at the top.

Wind turbines have life span of 10 to 20 years and are expensive to break down due to their size and the fact they are made from a mixture of composite materials including glass fibre, carbon fibre, polyester and epoxy resins.

There was a meme floating around social media, detailing the amount of steel, and epoxy (I believe) included in your average wind turbine, asking could they recoup the power used in there creation in that lifespan.

Probably, yes. But they still represent a huge problem of waste.

What is the solution proposed in the article? Why more government of course. That is answer to all problems today, isn't it?

There are ways to recycle the blades. They just are not quite economically feasible. Actually you can recycle the glass fiber, once you separate it from the expoy, but then the epoxy is "usually used for energy production." That means you burn it in an incinerator.

That doesn't sound too green, but what do I know? (Hat tip.)

The Other McCain is up first with In Shocking Decision, Supreme Court Agrees With Laws of 43 States. This story is bumped to the top because, well, I make the rules, and I love this story.

Professor Reynolds points out that today’s gun decision “will make essentially no difference in the 43 states that have shall-issue carry now. Its immediate impact will be limited to those may-issue states that make permits available at the discretion of the authorities.” So it’s not really that big of a deal, and is unlikely to lead to whatever nightmare scenarios may be lurking in the deranged imaginations of liberals.

Don Surber has an update on Get Woke/Go Broke. Kellogg goes woke, gets broken up. (And other companies too)

Caving to the woke crowd -- liberals who throw tantrums at things they don't like -- carries a price.

Again from The Other McCain - Guess Who Is Lying Again?

Every word Joe Biden says is a lie, including “and” and “the.” No intelligent person believes him, but we must remember that 50% of the population is below average.

American Thinker - The left vs. the right of self-defense

In the recent, predictable Democrat party push for gun control following the Uvalde shooting, has anyone asked the basic question, "Do you believe in the right of self-defense?" Many leftists believe that only the State has the right to defend its citizens. They believe that the State should possess a monopoly on the legal use of force.

Lawrence Person's BattleSwarm Blog - Russo-Ukranian War Update for June 22, 2022

The general course of the Russio-Ukrainian War seems the same (Russia grinding out slow gains in the Severodonetsk front, while Ukraine gains back territory on the wings near Kharkiv and Kherson), but there are a lot of interesting stories out on the periphery of the conflict.

Neo - We finally get lots of detail on Uvalde, and what it says about the police reaction – and the general preparedness of the school – is terrible

However, a preliminary look at just a couple of minutes (I watched him describe some details about the doors and the locks or lack thereof), and the content of a few very quick summaries, indicates extremely serious problems and failures, not only with the police response – although failure of the police response (and particularly that of Arredondo, who appears to have been in way over his head) is certainly a very important part of it – but with the entire structure of the school and its lockdown preparedness.

One more time for The Other McCain - ‘Public Servants’ or Public Masters: Whom Does Your Local School Board Serve?

Most people don’t pay attention to school board elections, but the teachers and administrators do. Employees of the school system constitute an organized special interest, who can usually succeed in electing their chosen slate of board members — and, perhaps more importantly, they can prevent the election of any school board candidate who might disrupt the system.

You Might Shoot Someone You Know.

The gun-hating part of the Left says that to convince you that guns are bad. They say that a lot. After all, why would you want to shoot someone you know? Well, you might have good reason to. Consider this case: Iowa woman shoots another woman in self-defense: reports

[Sgt. Paul] Parizek [of Des Moines police] said the relationship between Francis and the alleged shooter is “best described as acquainted with a history of conflict between the two,” the Des Moines Register reported.

You are more likely to have a conflict with someone you know. That certainly was the case a few years back. With exploding street crime everywhere, like carjacking, that may be changing. But people you know do not always have your best interests at heart.

After talking to witnesses and reviewing the evidence, detectives “learned that the shooter in this incident acted in self-defense after being violently assaulted,” the police also reportedly said.

You should click thru for all the details.

I would usually have linked to the original, but I still see a bit of the NYC "self-defense is really a thing?" attitude coming through this story from the NY Post. It seems to puzzle people in Blue States that people can and do defend themselves legally.

As for the gun-hating Left and people you know... People you know include your ex-boyfriend, ex-girlfriend, current girl-friend's ex-boyfriend, the creepy guy from the coffee shop who is always trying to pick you up, and the deranged coworker who has decided that you are his soulmate. Not everyone you know is a good person, with your best interests at heart.

Self-defense is a human-right, and in Iowa it appears to be your legal right.

As Self-defense Gains Ground in Philadelphia...

Gun control groups panic. Because what else can they do? As more people get guns and carry permits, Philly sees a sharp rise in homicides ruled justified

These sorts of deadly clashes in which the intended victims survive and assailants die are rare in Philadelphia, but are becoming more common as a growing number of people have legally armed themselves amid rising numbers of carjackings, shootings, and homicides.

Justified homicides jumped 67% from 2020 to 2021 ― from 12 to 20 according to the Philadelphia Police Department. An additional six have been ruled justified by the department but are awaiting the District Attorney’s Office to sign off. In 2019, there were 10 justified killings, six in 2018 and eight in 2017, the department said.

The DA is not surprised by the increase, and he didn't express panic over the situation. The Gun Control groups are beginning to see that they have a problem, however.

The trend worries some analysts and gun-control advocates.

I won't repeat their insanity. You can guess what they have to say.

The article linked at the top, covers 3 self-defense shootings. One of them was at a Dollar Store. What happened to the man who defended himself is of interest, though not surprising if you read a lot of self-defense stories.

In the case of the Dollar General shooting, prosecutors and police concluded that the assistant manager, Junwan Perkins-Owens, 22, acted in self-defense in shooting the robber who burst into the store at Ninth Street and Girard Avenue. Perkins-Owens said he feared for his life as the intruder brandished what turned out to be a fake gun.

While he was not criminally charged, Perkins-Owens said he was fired for having a gun on company property. Asked for comment, Dollar General provided a number for a media-relations firm. That number turned out to be nonworking.

Because Dollar General, and a lot of other companies, would rather see dead employees than dead bad guys. In this case it turned out that the bad guy had a "fake gun." That won't be true in every case.

And while I am concentrating on the statistics, and the narrative of the gun-grabbers, you really should click thru and read the details. It is good to see people taking responsibility for the safety of themselves and their families.

I'm Shocked - Shocked! - That a Politician Would Lie.

OK, I'm not really all that shocked. Eric Adams Admits Owning the Brooklyn Real Estate He Claimed to Have Sold - THE CITY

As a candidate last year, Mayor Eric Adams denied that he co-owned a Brooklyn co-op with a close friend — claiming that he’d gifted his shares to her more than a decade ago.

He did not disclose the existence of the one-bedroom apartment on Prospect Place, or his 50% share in it, in financial disclosure forms filed as Brooklyn Borough President from at least 2016 through 2020.

He changed his story 1 DAY after the general election. (How do you spell "Fraud?")

And now he has "declined" to answer questions. Color me unimpressed. He lied during the election. He corrected the record thinking it wouldn't get noticed. It got noticed.

Oh, but it is all the fault of his previous accountant, and it is purely coincidence that the truth came out one day after before the election. One. Day. It is just a coincidence. Right. If you believe that, he may want to sell you one of the many bridges in the city. And actually, he didn't "announce" it, he updated a form filed with the city, and no one noticed the day before the election

RedAir Airliner Landing Gear Collapse in Miami

There has been a lot of video, but not a lot of information on the incident in Miami. So here is some real information, some video that isn't just cellphone video of flames, and some reasoned analysis by a professional pilot.

And really. Leave your luggage behind. There isn't anything in your carry-on bad worth losing your life over. And there really isn't anything in YOUR carry-on bag that I am willing to lose MY life over. (See the section of the video at 8 minutes and 12 seconds in.) And then you should try to stay out of the way of any emergency equipment.

The section of the video at 3 minutes and 47 seconds that shows the aircraft on the ground, before it came to rest. Juan seems to think that the left-main landing gear had collapsed at that point. You should at least look at that, as it isn't cellphone video of chaos, and he has some intelligent things to say. But then he always has good things to say.

This is Juan Browne's video for RedAir MD-82 Gear Collapse Miami FL 21 June 2022 from his Blancolirio channel on YT. The whole video is only 15 minutes; grab a coffee.

Leftists Seem a Little Upset

Everytime a state passed "Shall Issue" concealed carry, the Left cried "Blood will run in the streets!" They are doing it again today. SCOTUS gun rights ruling upsets journos on Twitter: 'Plainly insane' | Fox News

Journalists expressed heightened levels of anxiety after a recent Supreme Court ruling gave New York State residents better access to acquiring firearm concealed carry licenses.

Various liberal media journalists and commentators remarked that the ruling "is a middle finger to New York," proof that the Supreme Court "sucks," and means that the Court will have contributed to future mass shootings in the country.

They really need a new playbook.

Of course the Green revolution isn't all that green. Not really.

Problem No. 5: E-cars are not clean

The Gun Hating Left Will See 2 Teens Tragically Shot.

That they were committing a home invasion will not be of interest. Don't clutter the issue with facts! 2 teens fatally shot during 'targeted home invasion': East Hartford police

According to officials, the two teens entered the home and were shot in the living room. Police were called to the home just after midnight.

One of the teens was a 16-year-old male from Hartford and the other was a 15-year-old male from Meriden. Police have not released the names of the teens at this time.

The resident of the home suffered minor injuries, because the teens were apparently there to attack him.

Connecticut is a progressive state, so there is no Stand Your Ground law. I don't know if that means there is also no Castle Doctrine.

The police are admitting that "it appears to be a case of self-defense at this time," but I am sure the DA will try to stick it to the law-abiding citizen. You are supposed to rely on the state for EVERYTHING! Even the things it cannot provide.

Self-defense is a human-right. Good Guys 2, Bad Guys 0.

This Is Completely Out of Control.

Not just in Chicago, but this story is about my old home. Two teenagers are charged with carjacking a driver in the West Loop on Sunday night - CWB Chicago

While the details of the story are interesting, I'm interested in the statistics.

CPD recorded 698 carjackings this year through June 10, slightly more than the 666 cases reported during the period last year. The comparative periods saw 400 cases in 2020 and 215 in 2019.

From May 1 through June 10, there were 148 carjackings citywide, roughly the same as the 143 cases reported during the period last year. In 2020, there were 138 cases during the period and only 60 in 2019.

According to HeyJackass! and 2022 Carjack-O-Rahm-A arrests were made in 6% of carjackings this year, which is slightly better than the past 2 years. (HeyJackass! is the only site on crime stats to trust in Chicago. CPD has been known to cook the books.)

A Woke Education is NO Education.

So will they also give diplomas to kids who never attended class? Probably. Bryant HS teachers say they must pass all students

The issue of AWOL students getting a pass is not unique to Bryant High School, which has 2,100 students and boasts legendary singer Ethel Merman and ex-schools chancellor Joel Klein among alumni.

Schools justify the laxity under a city Department of Education policy which says students can’t be denied credit based on a lack of “seat time.”

If the key to getting out of poverty is an education, these "educators" want to ensure that these kids are always poor.

But the teachers/educations don't care about helping poor kids get an education, or escaping poverty. But how much can they care if the parents don't care?

Why Is Hollywood So Creepy?

Don't be creepy. From The Other McCain: Crazy People Are Dangerous: ‘Several Disturbing Accusations’ vs. The Flash

“Mounting legal trouble” and “disturbing accusations” are a polite journalistic way of saying, “This guy’s a dangerous pervert.” And not just the ordinary kind of Hollywood sleaze for which Harvey Weinstein was notorious, but really sick stuff involving vulnerable adolescents. Before going into details about what Miller is alleged to have done — and as far as I can learn from news reports, “they/them” is currently a fugitive from justice — let’s first examine some important questions.

Why are so many Hollywood types creepy? As far as I can tell, they are not all creepy, but they seem to have more than a fair few creeps in their midst.

You can picture the scene in the corporate offices at Warner Bros., with executives asking, “Wait a minute — we spent $200 million on a movie starring a guy with ‘they/them’ pronouns? And now he’s on the lam, accused of diddling 12-year-olds, two weeks before the movie’s supposed to hit theaters?”

The red carpet for The Flash premiere is gonna be a perp walk.

So was the whole "they/them" non-binary thing a ploy to deflect criticism? "Don't say bad things about Miller, they're an oppressed minority." Or something.

As Robert Stacy is right to point out, so far everything is alleged, except for that part where he appears to be a fugitive on the run. That looks true as far as I can see, but I've been known to be wrong. Once of twice.

Another Failure of the Victim-selection Process.

It seems that they thought storm-damage meant no one would be in the home. Leesburg homeowner shot burglar as he entered home, police say

Two miscreants thought it would be a good idea to break into a home.

Police say the homeowner shot one of two men as they entered the residence.

According to Capt. Joe Iozzi, the suspects entered the home through a back sliding glass door.

The guy who got shot was taken to a trauma center. The other guy ran like a rabbit.

Detectives say it does not appear the homeowner will face charges.

That is because self-defense is a human-right.

The New Murder Capital of America

New Orleans is far ahead in a race no one wants to win. ‘This is a crisis’: New Orleans murder rate per capita pacing highest in U.S.

It’s no secret that New Orleans struggles with violent crime, but new statistics paint a grim picture of the Crescent City being on pace to be the murder capital of the United States if trends don’t change in 2022.

According to data from AH Datalytics, compiled using the FBI’s Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) program, New Orleans has a per capita year-to-date homicide rate of 72 per 100,000 residents. The next three U.S. cities behind New Orleans are Birmingham with a per capita homicide rate of 59 per 100,000 residents and Baltimore and St. Louis, each with a per capita homicide rate of 58 per 100,000 residents.

Murders in NOLA were at a 50 year low in 2019. Gee, I wonder what changed?

Mayor LaToya Cantrell refuses to use the word crisis. But then politicians lie. Or are clueless. Or both.

“We see that the mayor and other city leaders don’t really understand the magnitude of the problem,” [Robert Collins, a political analyst with Dillard University,] said. “The elected leaders in the city don’t seem to have the same opinion that the majority of the citizens have in the city, as far as the city is in crisis mode right now and that they should be taking the appropriate emergency actions.”

The mayor keeps talking about "holistic approaches" to crime. It is the same nonsense I've been hearing about since the 1980s, when crime was also out of control.

Is anyone shocked to learn that New Orleans PD is suffering from a shortage of officers?

“You’ve got two components of the criminal justice system: dwindling numbers of officers, that means they can’t get to crime scenes and when they do get to crime scenes, they are overwhelmed with violent crime,” [Rafael Goyeneche, president of the Metropolitan Crime Commission,] said. “If they’re fortunate enough to make an arrest, we have the District Attorney’s office that, at least in 2021, the first year of Jason Williams, was more inclined to refuse and dismiss those cases.”

And so I include my obligatory reference to Hobbes' State of War, which exists after the breakdown of law and order. That time were you cannot count on society to enforce order. "The time wherein men live without other security than what their own strength and their own invention shall furnish them." Society is built on a foundation of law and order. The Blue Cities are dismantling that as fast as they can. And many, like Mayor Cantrell, refuse to even admit the scope of the problem.

And while I am certain that someone will reference a city with a Republican mayor that is struggling with an increase in crime, the last time a Republican was mayor of New Orleans was November 29, 1872.
