The gun-hating part of the Left loves to go on about how if you own a gun, you are more likely to shoot someone you know, than a complete stranger. There is a very good reason for that.

Jarell Wheeler was leaving the store, just as Emanuel Greenwalt-Claypool, was arriving to deliver something.

Based on store surveillance, video and witness statements, police determined that Wheeler came back inside, left and then came back inside again, this time running towards Greenwalt-Claypool with his arm raised.

Given the furtive nature of their prior interactions, this was deemed to be self-defense.

The reason that you are more likely to shoot someone you know, is that complete strangers are less likely to pose a threat. That equation is breaking down, and civilization breaks down, and random street crime spreads everywhere, but people you know can still be an issue.

The list of people you know, is quite large after all, and extends beyond friends and family, to ex-coworkers, ex-romantic-partners, neighbors, and more. Any of them can become stalkers, perceive that you insulted them in some way, etc.

The Left doesn't like to admit this. It is scary to think you might shoot someone you know, but they want you scared of guns, and disarmed because of that fear.

According to Cheyenne County Attorney Paul Schaub, the Cheyenne County Emergency Communications Center reported a father had been shot by his son. Upon arrival, deputies identified Bruce Brauer, Nicholas Brauer and Vicky Brauer at the scene. Nicholas is the son of Bruce and Vicky.

Sidney, Nebraska, in Cheyenne County, is about 130 miles northeast of Denver, Colorado, and about 360 miles due west of Omaha.

The son was not arrested because he has a valid claim to self-defense. And while the investigation is not complete, if the cops thought he was obviously guilty of something, he would probably be in custody.

According to Schaub, Nicholas is not in custody. The investigation findings at this time support the shooting was done in self-defense.

Now "people that you know" includes a lot of people more than family. A disgruntled ex-employee. A coworker who morphed into a stalker. Ex-boyfriends or husbands, and ex-girlfriends or wives. The creepy guy from the coffee shop. These are all people you know. The fact that you know them, or even that you are related to them, does not mean they will never be a threat.

In any event, self-defense is a human right, and it appears to be your right in Nebraska.

Don't Bring a Crowbar to a Gunfight

Cops were called to the scene of a shooting in York County, Nebraska.

They found 60-year-old Brian Mulder with a gunshot wound in his right arm.

A deputy used a tourniquet to stop the bleeding before Mulder was taken to a hospital in York.

During the investigation, deputies determined that another man shot Mulder in self-defense during a fight.

This sounds like a case of posturing that got out of hand.

He was asked to leave the home, and he refused. He 'belly bumped' the homeowner. And he got a pry bar out of his car. He hit the homeowner twice before he was shot.

After he was taken to a local hospital, and the doctors were done with him, deputies took Mr. Mulder to the county lockup.

So he got shot, and then he was arrested. All because someone said, "Please leave," and he said, "F- you!" People need better manners.

Self-defense is a human right. It might also be your legal right in Nebraska. In other words, good guys 1, bad guys 0.

Two men had dinner and were drinking. The younger man began to drink heavily, so the older man asked him to leave. The younger man pulled a knife, and the old guy shot him.

The investigation continues, but investigators report the older man acted in self-defense.

No charges are being filed.

Douglas County Attorney Don Kleine said Wednesday that after reviewing the evidence, he determined that Malik T. Williams was justified in firing shots Sunday morning outside his family home.
