An 18-year-old man from North Richland Hills was arrested and charged with burglary after a homeowner shot him while he was reportedly trying to break into their residence, Frisco Police said.
Frisco, Texas is a town that is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area. It is about 15 or 20 miles north of Dallas.
Police found 18-year-old Clinton Montgomery when they searched the house, fire department personnel took him to the hospital, where he remains.

American gun ownership is at a record high as more than half of U.S. voters live in a household with a firearm.
This word came Tuesday from a nationwide NBC News poll. Researchers discovered that 52% of registered voters reported that they or someone in their household owns a weapon.
We acted on those personal motivations and gun ownership has grown over time. We’ve seen record gun sales for the last 50 months. We also have mixed data on the number of new gun owners. A Pew research poll from August said that 41 percent of us live in a household with a firearm. That estimate may be on the low side since a Gallup poll put the number at 44 percent. A recent NBC poll put the number at 52% of us who live with a gun in our home. The variance between different polling organizations are significant, but the trend of increased gun ownership is consistent.
We have to be skeptical about these polling numbers. A recent research report said that many of us don’t tell the truth to strangers on the phone when the strangers ask if we own firearms. The research report estimated that as many as 60 percent of adults might own a gun as compared to 30 percent reported earlier.
I'm glad that they finally admit that last point, about not telling people the truth.

The Olive Hill Police Department said suspect Kellie Boggs, 44, allegedly attacked an unidentified man with an ax about 1 a.m. Friday, WSAZ reported. The male victim was left with serious injuries to his face and was found in a ditch behind the Carter County EMS station’s west base.
Then she smashed the door to the emergency center, but at least some of the EMTs were armed and held her at gunpoint until police arrived.
The reporter/news outlet repeatedly makes the case that these were EMTs, that is government employees. But are they armed under any authority other than concealed carry licenses? Or is it just that reporters don't like it when regular citizens are armed?

Disney recently filed its 10-K Annual Report with the Securities and Exchange Commission. It is a document that they are required to file yearly. Since it is a public company, it is a public document. One of the things that must be included in any 10-K report is a warning to investors, current and prospective, of risks that the business faces that may impact the stock value.

The numbers from different parts of the state cover different time periods, but they all point to an increasing problem.
Store owners said they lost $4.4 billion last year as a result of retail theft — which they say adds to the urgency for Gov. Kathy Hochul to crack down.

Because the proposal would have cost $35 million that the state doesn't have. So what is 7% of $4.4 billion? (That is $308 million in lost sales tax - or whatever the percentage should be for sales tax in NY - due to theft. Math is hard for New Yorkers.)
Law enforcement blames 2 things. Bail reform, and progressive prosecutors who seem to be determined to increase crime. And they are increasing crime.
Syracuse has 55% spike in shoplifting since 2021. A local pharmacy chain in Syracuse has losses of more than $250,000 per year.
The Big Apple saw a 64% increase in reported incidents of retail theft during the four-year period between mid-2019 and June of this year, according to the Council on Criminal Justice.
One of the comments to the article gets it exactly right. This is what the people of New York State have voted for, and this is what they are getting. Higher costs. Higher insurance. Less choice of retail outlets, since businesses can't survive under those circumstances.
Of course the cynical side of my personality is that this is all to benefit online retailers. If there are no local stores, because they've been driven out of business by crime, you will have to order online, though I'm not sure they have solved the porch pirate problem.

The New York Police Department is also losing officers at an alarming rate.

But that is also what the people of New York said they wanted.

European Parliament Approves Stricter Plastic Packaging Restrictions
The directive, passed by the European Union, mandates that only essential food items, such as raw meat, fish, and dairy products, be packaged in plastic bags.

In the chaos, 16-year-old Thomas was stabbed twice in the chest and throat and died of his injuries.
According to RMX News, the gang reportedly used Arabic slurs for White people as they stabbed several partygoers and are being described as Algerian immigrants.

How should a woman who lives alone handle a home invasion by a man climbing through her window in the middle of the night? I wish the gun-hating part of the Left would explain that. Oh, and people in Florida are heavily armed.
According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, a man broke into a house by smashing the front window. The woman who lives there by herself picked up a gun and shot the intruder.
Pompano Beach is on the Atlantic coast of Florida about half way between Ft. Lauderdale and Boca Raton.
As for the neighbor they interviewed, she was actually the person who called 911, having witnessed the break in.
“This guy came down the road, barefoot, looking behind him like somebody’s after him, and he veered right, went to try her doorknob, couldn’t get in that way, pulled the screen down, just stated busting out the glass, and crawled through the window, and I called 911,” Kerrigan said, adding that she thought the man was “wacked out on something.”
Then Kerrigan heard a gunshot.
She thought it was good that her neighbor was able to defend herself, given the times we live in.
It being the media, they don't like self-defense, but this seems pretty clear cut to me, though I'm not an attorney.

The National Socialist German Workers Party platform offered a wish list of collectivist economic ideas.
"We demand," the party's 25 Theses stated, "abolition of incomes unearned by work [investment income] … the ruthless confiscation of all war profits … nationalization of all businesses which have been formed into corporations … profit-sharing in large industrial enterprises."
Do we think college students would be shocked to discover that their views are in line with the Nazis, or would they just adopt that group as a model the way they have rallied behind Bin Laden?

I'm sure this is a tragedy to the family. My extended family lost young people to everything from medical problems to car crashes, and the death of any young person is tragedy. But I am rivited by the following fact.

The killers of Ashley Dale will be pensioners by the time they are eligible for release and Witham is likely to die in jail.
I know that Glocks are being turned into fully automatic weapons, so I guess this is a problem over here. It just struck me as odd that fully automatic weapons are a problem in gun-free Britain.
Far-left media watchdog group Media Matters issued a report doubling down on claims that Elon Musk, and the X platform at large, are antisemitic. The platform, dedicated to free speech, has been accused of hosting antisemitic content. Media Matters found advertising accompanying posts that contained anti-semitic content. X has been a target of censors since Musk took over the platform and declared that free speech was a guiding principle of the enterprise.
The Left's outrage is strangely specific.
After the hit piece, prominent leftist Keith Olbermann issued a call for the Biden administration to ban X. He did not, notably, call for bans of popular social media site TikTok, despite the massive amounts of antisemitic rhetoric coming from that platform.
If it weren't for double-standards, they'd have no standards at all.

The West is abandoning Israel. Geert Wilders party soars to first place (JW). NBA star supports Hamas (JW). A moderate Islamic scholar (JW). Helping Aya Hijazi was a mistake. The Hamas hospitals.

While on the phone with the Sheriff's Department, the resident stated the suspect was now breaking into the home and a gunshot was heard. Deputies responded and located the suspect with a gunshot wound. Deputies provided medical aid, and he was taken to the hospital by paramedics.
He died at the hospital.
This being California, they are still trying to figure out how to charge the homeowner with something. Or, in other words, the investigation continues.

This is why people don’t trust the media. They’re always running around looking for some kind of bogus “scandal” like this about anyone remotely conservative, and then demanding that Republican politicians denounce the targeted person. You never see them doing things like this to Democrats. Liberals get away with saying all kinds of crazy stuff, without CNN ever demanding that Democrats denounce their craziness.
