It did not stop this guy from breaking into a home where he was forbidden to go. Homeowner shoots, kills home invader in Jackson County
It starts out as a fairly typical story of self-defense.
A homeowner shot and killed a suspect during a home invasion early Tuesday, according to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.
Jackson County, Oregon is on the California state line. It is roughly a 270 mile drive north to Portland, Oregon. Shady Cove could best be described as a rural town. It features businesses that cater to campers seeking access to southern Oregon wilderness.
If you read farther into the story, it becomes clear that this is not your typical self-defense story.
According to the JCSO, they’re currently investigating claims of self-defense during the home-invasion burglary. Deputies state a person living at the home had an active protection order against the suspect.
If you need a court order for your protection, then you need a plan for your personal protection. The police have no duty to protect you, not even in the presence of court order. You do have the right to protect yourself. You should plan accordingly.
