Chicago's "Summer of Joy"

It got started with a bang. From HeyJackass! - Memorial Day Weekend.

The Summer of Joy has arrived! Starting this weekend and for the next 100 days, be prepared to experience more joy than one thought humanly possible.

Final Joyful Tally: 9 killed, 46 wounded
2021 Memorial Day tally: 4 killed, 38 wounded

Lori Lightfoot (better known as Mayor Groot) declared that this would be a "Summer of Joy" a few weeks ago.

Tuesday Links - 31 May

Samizdata starts us off with “In none of these places were any human remains unearthed.” The burned churches were in service of a fictional story that the media pushed.

You have probably heard the shocking story, reported worldwide, of the discovery of mass graves in Canada containing the bodies of what were then called Indian and are now called First Nations children sent to residential schools.

What you heard was exactly that, a story. It is not true.

Legal Insurrection - Boston University Students Argue Free Speech Doesn’t Apply to Conservative Writer. Free speech is only for people who say things we agree with. Or something.

Boston University’s Student Government Association (SGA) recently demanded the school adopt new “LGBTQ+” measures after Michael Knowles spoke on campus, which the body did not consider an exercise of free speech. [SNIP]

“We fully believe in freedom of speech and expression, however there is a line between free speech and hate speech that must be drawn,” the resolution stated.

Earth-bound Misfit - Dear Texas DPS, It's Called Gunfighting. Look It Up.

This is what the Cult of Officer Safety has brought: Cops who won't do their jobs when the job gets real. I cannot, for the life of me, imagine the old-school cops who had spit-shined shoes, hickory nightsticks and Colt or S&W revolvers covering in fear like those guys.

Allah's Willing Executioners - Food will become extremely expensive, warn German farmers as cost of living crisis soars

Impro Guns - Plumberbusses. Home built firearms from plumbing pipe.

Slam fire pipe shotguns in 12 gauge and 28 gauge used by Argentinian street gangs.

View from the Porch - Automotif CCCII... You should read the entire thing, and see the photo in question.

What amuses me is when I post a picture of a car like this and someone gets all assmad because this dude didn't dress his Barbie doll the way the commenter would have dressed it if it were his.

The Other McCain - Ukraine: Bad Week in the Donbas

The optimism that followed Russia’s retreat from Kharkiv earlier this month has now been replaced by apprehension for the critical situation farther east in the Donbas.

SiGraybeard - Absurd Headline of the Week

From Accuweather:

Asteroid the size of 350 giraffes to fly past Earth this week

I'm so out of touch that I've never even seen anything measured in numbers of giraffes. What does "the size of 350 giraffes" size mean?

Jonathan Turley - President Biden Repeats False Claim about the Second Amendment

It does sound bizarre because it is factually and legally untrue. I have received calls from media for years about this claim and it does not improve by repetition. Even the Washington Post has declared Biden’s understanding of the Second Amendment to be false.

Again from The Other McCain - Carjacking While Pregnant. Media Bias? What Media Bias?

Perhaps the CDC should issue guidelines on this subject, although most expectant mothers probably don’t need to be told this: Engaging in armed carjacking is not recommended during pregnancy.

Chicks on the Right - How Our Fractured Societal Priorities May Have Influenced The Police Response In Uvalde

Essentially, she lays out how American society has spent the last 2 years of COVID willing to sacrifice children in the name of the supposed “greater good.” Protecting teachers from a 99%+ survivable virus at the expense of the educational, psychological, social, and physical fitness of children. Forcing unnecessary experimental vaccines on children who have almost 0% chance of dying from the virus. Masking healthy children for hours a day, every day, despite the science showing it to be unnecessary and ineffective. For 2 years, adults have been willing to sacrifice their children’s wellbeing in order to provide security for adults, when in times past, adults would give up everything to provide security for children instead. And apparently Uvalde maintained this new children-last precedent.

Two are dead; the third is in custody. UPDATE: Arrest made after 2 killed in home invasion in Carbon Hill

And the Left will be screeching about how felony murder is unfair in 3, 2, ...

Two people invaded a home, allegedly with the aid of Paula Charlene Painter.

Carbon Hill Police Antoine Cobb says that once on the property and inside the home, law enforcement discovered the two intruders dead due to gunshot wounds. The homeowner fired the shots but he was also struck during the exchange of gun fire at least once in the stomach.

The homeowner is in a local hospital.

The Walker County Sheriff’s Office confirmed a woman was charged following a home invasion in Carbon Hill. Investigators said a shooting, that happened because of the home invasion, killed two people and injured one.

According to the Walker County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page, Paula Charlene Painter, of Carbon Hill, was charged with two counts of Felony Murder, one count of Attempted Murder, and one count of Robbery First Degree.

Self-defense is a human-right. In Alabama, self-defense is recognized as a legal right.

And Alabama also holds people accountable for the completely foreseeable consequences of their actions. Two armed miscreants invade a home; you have to be aware of the possibility that someone will die. Which is why we have felony murder, and why it drives the Left crazy. Individuals being Responsible for their own actions and the consequences? Next you will want people to be judged by the content of their character, and not the color of their skin.

Who Needs Global Warming When You Have Government?

Or is it climate change now? Either way another government-caused environmental disaster. Forest Service says it started all of New Mexico's largest wildfire | Reuters

Two blazes that grew into New Mexico's largest ever wildfire were both started by the U.S. Forest Service (USFS), the agency said on Friday, prompting the state's governor to demand the federal government take full responsibility for the disaster.

Forest Service investigators determined the Calf Canyon Fire was caused by a "burn pile" of branches that the agency thought was out but reignited on April 19, the Santa Fe National Forest said in a statement.

That was the second part of the 1-2 punch. They had previously decided that they needs a "controlled burn." Which went okay, except for the "controlled" part.

That blaze on April 22 merged with the Hermits Peak Fire, which the USFS started with a controlled burn that went out of control on April 6, the agency previously reported.

312,320 acres burned.

Blazing a more than 40-mile-long (64-km-long) path up the Sangre de Cristo mountains, the fire has destroyed watersheds and forests used for centuries by Indo-Hispano farming villages and Native American communities.

Whatever problem you are trying to solve, more government is not the answer.

Hat tip to Pirate's Cove. Oops: Biden’s Forestry Service Started New Mexico Wildfires

Don’t expect the Warmists to give up their talking points in favor of Reality.

I mean, be fair. How can you get more money out the system or more power into the system based on governmental negligence and incompetence?

And this isn't the first time the .gov has caused its own ecological disaster. Consider the Animas River Spill, from 2015, wherein the EPA completely contaminated a river with heavy metals.

"I'm from the government and I'm here to help," is still one of the most frightening sentences in the English language.

Useless Nitwits Go to China

Nothing changes. U.N. human rights chief asks China to rethink Uyghur policies

The top United Nations human rights official said Saturday that she raised concerns with Chinese officials about the effect of the broad application of counterterrorism and deradicalization measures on the rights of Uyghurs and other predominantly Muslim groups in China's Xinjiang region.

Effects like forced labor (that is diplomatic double-speak for slavery) and widescale human-rights violations.

But hey, she asked nicely.

The U.N. and China agreed to set up a working group to hold follow-up discussions on a range of issues, including the rights of minorities, counterterrorism and human rights, and legal protection, Bachelet said.

All they know how to do is talk, and there are some governments that will talk forever, and not do anything of substance. Because they know they can point to the Useless Nitwits at the UN and say, "But see! We're negotiating."

The Trial I Have Ignored

From The Other McCain: Everybody Hates Amber Heard.

For reasons related to testimony in Johnny Depp’s defamation suit against his ex-wife Amber Heard, two of the popular Twitter hashtags about the trial are #AmberTurd and #MePoo. While we don’t know what verdict the jury will reach — it’s very difficult for a public figure to win a defamation case in America because of the Sullivan precedent — clearly Johnny Depp has scored a victory in the court of public opinion.

There are screen shots from a couple of Tweets from a combat veteran, noting that Ms. Heard scored higher on her PTSD test than he did.

Evidently, being married to Johnny Depp is far more traumatic than the Iraq War.

Reckless

I haven't featured any Lacuna Coil in a while. They are one of the few European Metal bands to achieve any recognition in the US. They began as Gothic Metal, but are really more Alternative Metal these days. There are plenty of guitar solos, and the music rocks. The songwriting is better than anything you will find in American "Popular Music" today. I quite like them.

This is "Reckless" by Lacuna Coil from their 2019 album Black Anima.

She Was Never Safe

He went to speak harshly to them. They could have killed him. El Cajon homeowner finds gun pointed at him during encounter

Kids making noise in a car in the middle of the street, keeping his family awake. He went to speak harshly to them.

Jamie's husband went to take a look. He saw a white car parked in the middle of the road, five boys in their late teens inside. Garrett yelled at them to leave.

“Pulled away, but then stopped in front of our driveway and parked in the middle of street. All got out, all five of them,” said Jamie.

Jamie says the five teens encircled her husband.

They did pull out a gun and shoot him, but luckily it turned out to be a BB gun.

They could have had a real gun. They could have had knives. They could have beaten him to death.

“I don’t feel safe anymore. We are a very pro-gun family … Kids shouldn't have access to these guns … I think it’s a reflection on the way our society is going. It's scary,” said Jamie.

I have bad news for Mrs. Boehs: She was never safe.

You may feel safe in your neighborhood or your home, but unless you live in a fortress, you are kidding yourself. And even a fortress can fall to the right force. You live in The Real World™ where crime can, and all too often does, happen. Statistics may be more or less on your side, but you are not protected by your zip code.

Europeans Are Up in Arms

They are having fits over 3D-printed firearms. (See what I did there?) Dutch police finding more and more 3D printed guns | NL Times

The police in the Netherlands are increasingly coming across 3D-printed firearms when arresting suspects or searching homes. These pistols or semi-automatic rifles, printed on a 3D printer using blueprints found online, are just as dangerous as regular guns, the Public Prosecution Service (OM) said to De Telegraaf.

There isn't a lot of info available, only a handful of news articles on the conference being hosted by Europol and the Dutch.

I found it by way of Impro Guns, and Europol Conference on 3D Printed Firearms.

Greenpeace Solar Installation Lasted 3 Years

It was a "huge success" when it was new. You didn't even have to ask Greenpeace, and they would tell you anyway. How Greenpeace’s Dream Of A Solar-Powered Village Fell Apart In Just A Few Years

“In the first three years, it worked well and people were using it. But after three years the batteries were exhausted and it was never repaired,” Ravi Kumar, a local shopkeeper, told Mongabay-India. “So now, while the solar rooftops, CCTV cameras and other infrastructure are intact, the whole system has become a showpiece for us.”

The power installation is being used to house cattle today.

It isn't the only such installation, as these kinds of things are pitched in areas without access to a power grid.

“It’s the same thing that’s happened a lot across Africa: goody-two-shoes comes in and builds them a small solar facility,” CO2 Coalition Director Patrick Moore, who co-founded Greenpeace in the 1970s, told The Daily Caller News Foundation.

“Then, pretty soon the battery wears out and it just doesn’t get repaired and they don’t know what to do because they don’t have any expertise,” said Moore, who departed Greenpeace in the 1980s after he said the group lost touch with its original purpose. “There’s plenty of those stories.”

The village of Dharnai, India was connected to the local power grid in 2016 and 2017, and people never looked back.

Reliable power, enough to run refrigeration, and it is also cheaper power.

First He Got Shot, Then He Got Arrested

He thought settling a score at 4AM was a good idea. He was wrong. Police: Homeowner shot intruder during break-in at West Chester home.

He knew the homeowners. He showed up at 4 AM and broke in, dragged one outside and started assaulting that person.

While the intruder was assaulting one of the homeowners, the other homeowner shot the intruder, according to investigators.

Cops showed up and took him to the hospital.

Not even any word on what the charges will be, but self-defense is a human-right.

Carjacking Is Only a Misdemeanor in Chicago

And they are at a loss to explain why crime is out of control. Prosecutors reject carjacking charges, leading a misdemeanor court judge to ask why: 'The facts of this case sound much more like an aggravated vehicular hijacking' - CWB Chicago

“Is there a reason this defendant is coming though misdemeanor bond court as opposed to felony bond court?” she asked.

An assistant state’s attorney told her that the Cook County State’s Attorney’s felony review office had “rejected” carjacking charges.

“The facts of this case sound much more like an aggravated vehicular hijacking than a criminal trespass to motor vehicle,” Dawkins said later. “Nonetheless, we’re here in misdemeanor bond court.”

Go read the whole thing. At least the judge did as much as she could under the circumstances.

Someday, Illinois State's Attorney Kim Foxx and her band of non-prosecuting attorneys will be called to explain what they did to law and order in and around Chicago. But today is not that day.

Does Anyone At the New York Times Even Know a Gun Owner?

Somehow I'm certain that this woman does not. From The Other McCain - For Crying Out Loud! ‘The Paramilitary Wing of the American Right,’ Ma’am?

Michelle Goldberg lives in Brooklyn and writes for the New York Times, and I doubt she has ever actually spoken to any member of “The American Right.” In a column that endeavors to connect the Uvalde massacre to the 2021 Capitol riot, she seems utterly unhinged

There is a lot that is worth your attention. I leave you with this bit.

You can read the rest of that, but you see how the lazy demonization of gun owners and Republicans (whom Goldberg seems to assume are one and the same) gives way to this paranoia about the threat of the “paramilitary wing of the American right.” When Republicans are in power, Democrats proclaim themselves the “resistance” fighting against the allegedly “authoritarian” GOP. Oh, but when Democrats have power, they immediately start hatching plans to criminalize dissent and speak of opposition as if everyone who voted Republican is a neo-Nazi menace who needs to be arrested.

This is "Summer Overture" by Clint Mansell & Kronos Quartet. That is how it is listed in the credits. It was composed by Mansell and performed by Kronos Quartet for the film.

Notable members of the cast of the movie include Jared Leto, Ellen Burstyn, and and Marlon Wayans.

Maybe they didn't think a farm would have a security system. Homeowner Holds Burglars at Gunpoint After Firing Shot in Air

Around 3 AM Tuesday morning, the Grant County Sheriff's Office got a 9-1-1 call from a homeowner near Mattawa. The landowner said he'd received an alert on his phone from his security system about an intrusion into one of his shops on his farm.

The man, armed with a handgun, was concerned the two would-be burglars might be armed so as he confronted them coming out of the shop, he fired a round into the air.

Sheriff's deputies showed up and arrested the two miscreants on charges of 2nd Degree Burglary and 2nd Degree Malicious Mischief.

They were driving in a stolen vehicle, so that would be a felony charge of possessing stolen property.

They should have stayed home, and watched TV.

Red-light Cameras and Corruption

I'm shocked - shocked! - that there is corruption in suburbia. Ex-Oakbrook Terrace mayor pleads guilty in red-light camera scheme

OK. I'm not shocked at all.

It IS surprising to see The Outfit mentioned in a news article, even if only indirectly.

A longtime police officer who was elected mayor of Oakbrook Terrace in 2009, Ragucci is the latest to be convicted in a sweeping federal investigation into bribes and kickbacks involving red-light cameras installed by SafeSpeed LLC, which generates millions of dollars in fines from motorists each year in nearly two dozen Chicago suburbs.

Ragucci resigned from office more than two years ago amid revelations of the federal investigation.

They said (they including the former mayor) that the red-light-cameras would "encourage safe driving." What they actually did was line people's pockets.

In all the red-light cameras in Oakbrook Terrace, a suburb west of downtown Chicago, brought in a total of $17 million. The former mayor, allegedly pocketed $88,000.

It’s unclear from the charges how much money ultimately flowed to DSC Enterprises as part of the scheme, but according to available data, Oakbrook Terrace’s red-light cameras generated nearly $17 million in revenue from 2017 to April 2021. Based on the amount of that money that went to SafeSpeed, the cut for DSC would have been about $900,000.

That's a lot of money in about 4 years.

DSC Enterprises was started by Dennis Colucci and run by his sons, James and Joseph Colucci, after his death. They have pleaded not-guilty to related charges.

News reports and sources indicate Dennis Colucci’s ties to Outfit figures went back decades, though he never was charged with any mob-related activity.

In May 1977, Dennis Colucci was one of four alibi witnesses who testified on behalf of [Harry] Aleman, one of the Outfit’s most feared killers, who was on trial for the 1972 slaying of William Logan, a truck dispatcher and Teamsters union member.

There is more of course; this did take place in Illinois, after all.

The sprawling case also has ensnared then-state Sen. Martin Sandoval, the then-powerful head of the Senate Transportation Committee, Crestwood Mayor Louis Presta, and several longtime Democratic political operatives.

And for those who don't know, The Chicago Outfit is the Midwest branch of the American Mafia. It was once run by Al Capone. [Hat tip to Chicago Journal.]

Democrats and the Race to Destroy America

They are not misguided; they are evil. Hungry? Democrats say ‘eat cake’

When faced with irrefutable evidence of failing policies and crumbling political fortunes, politically rational presidents undertake a course correction. They reverse unpopular policies and adopt more productive ones, even if only out of self-interest.

President Biden and the Democrats, however, are pointedly ignoring the laws of political rationality. They stubbornly cling to their disastrous agenda, even as it damages the country and collapses their own poll numbers. They’re acutely aware of the harm they’re inflicting, but instead of rushing to mitigate it, they’re doubling down.

No one is that stupid. Well, FJB may be that stupid, but he isn't in charge of anything anyway. His handlers hate America and want to destroy it. Turn us into the next Socialist paradise, like they did to Venezuela.

From the Other McCain - The ‘Gun Lobby,’ ‘Assault Weapons,’ ‘Common Sense Gun Laws’ and Other Things Joe Biden Keeps Lying About.

There are millions — literally millions — of AR-15-type rifles legally owned by law-abiding American citizens who have never shot another human being. The fact that Salvador Ramos owned two of them cannot be interpreted as signifying that everybody who owns an AR-15 is a menace to society, because if you want to engage in irresponsible generalization like that, I could think of some other generalizations relevant to violent crime that no sensible politician would dare invoke.

He Suffered a Failure of the Victim-selection Process

Maybe he thought robbing an a 69-year-old woman would be easy. Maybe he was on drugs or just plain insane. ‘I had to do what I had to do:’ Florida woman, 69, shoots, kills intruder

For the geographically challenged, Orange County, Florida is basically suburban Orlando. It does include Orlando, but if they say the location is Orange County... Though I don't know how large the county is.

“I feel sorry for his family, but I had to do what I had to do,” said Virginia Morrison, who owns the home.

The sheriff’s office told News 6 that the man entered the home and startled Morrison, who asked the man to leave. She shot the man when he refused to leave the property, according to deputies.

Charges are up to the State's Attorney for Orange County, but Florida has not morphed into New Jersey.

Self-defense is a human-right.

Georgia’s Governor Brian Kemp and Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger are beyond neglecting their duty to ensure free and fair elections in their state, at this point they are complicit in 2020 Election fraud.

We’ve been identifying and writing about the mountains of evidence of election fraud and irregularities since the 2020 Election in Georgia. This state was stolen from President Trump. It’s clear both Georgia’s corrupt Governor and Secretary of State (SOS) did all they could to ensure the steal.

They will do everything in their power to maintain the status quo with respect to fraudulent voting.

Mask Wearing Leads to Death

This would be funny if it wasn't about people dying for no reason. Study Finds 'Positive Correlation' Between Higher Mask Usage And COVID-19 Deaths.

Since Math Is Hard™ and most people don't study statistics I will note that "positive correlation" means that more mask wearing means more death.

Beyond finding no benefit to mask mandate compliance in curtailing the spread of COVID-19, the paper found a “moderate positive correlation” between the use of masks and COVID-19 deaths.

“Moreover, the moderate positive correlation between mask usage and deaths in Western Europe also suggests that the universal use of masks may have had harmful unintended consequences,” it asserted.

The correlation was not statistically significant, which means I can't actually say that people died, buy you actually CANNOT say that mask-wearing is good.

"Follow the Science!" Somehow I don't think this will be science that anyone in government wants to follow.

It Is All About Attitude

Self-defense that is. Armed robbery of 55-year-old victim on Red Line leaves one offender critical, wounded with his own knife

You could say that they suffered a failure of the Victim-selection Process.

Police said a 55-year-old male victim was riding the CTA Red Line train near the 95th Street Terminal in the Roseland community area around 3:00 a.m. when he was approached by two male offenders. One offender pointed a handgun at the victim demanding his belongings while the second offender held a knife.

The 55-year-old reportedly did not want to give up his bag so the two offenders began to physically struggle with the victim attempting to take his bag. It was unclear how but, during the altercation, the male offender who was armed with a knife sustained a wound to the leg.

I have no idea what the laws in Chicago are, but I would not be surprised to discover that legal concealed carry is not available on CTA trains and busses. Because obviously there is no need to defend yourself.

In the end the guy lost his bag. The guy who had a gun ran off with it, leaving his injured partner for the cops to collect.

This incident also brought to mind a Heinlein quote from Starship Troopers:

There are no dangerous weapons; there are only dangerous men.

The guy who ran like a rabbit proved, once again, "there is reportedly still no honor among thieves."

I'm Shocked - Shocked! - That a Politician Could Be Corrupt

Okay, I'm not shocked at all. Anaheim Mayor Resigns Amid Federal Corruption Probe

I am shocked that a Republican was mayor of Anaheim, CA, but I'm not shocked that a Republican Politician would be corrupt. (I'm originally from Illinois, where corruption knows no bounds. It certainly is not restricted to one party.)

Anaheim Mayor Harry Sidhu, a Republican, resigned effective Tuesday amid a corruption probe by the Federal Bureau of Investigation over the land sale of Angels Stadium — a probe that’s already resulted in money laundering charges being brought against one of Sidhu’s political allies, former Anaheim Chamber of Commerce CEO Todd Ament.

It is about some alleged backroom dealings around a new stadium for a baseball team.

The mayor's team (well, ex-mayor now) was saying that a "fair and thorough" investigation will show that nothing underhanded was done. By implication that any investigation that turns up wrong-doing is neither fair nor thorough.

Click thru for the details.

And remember: They are all lying to you about something.

Ship To Wreck

Every now and then I run across a musical group via social media. (IT isn't bad if you can avoid the political insanity.) Today's song comes from such discovery. (Thanks to Eric.)

He was talking about Florence Welch of Florence and the Machine (commonly seen as Florence + The Machine). She is a great singer, and that is a band that is producing Indie Rock, like you might have found in America before AutoTune, PC software, and electronic drum tracks took over everything.

Florence + The Machine had an album scheduled to come out May 13th. I haven't looked for it, but I probably will.

This song is "Ship To Wreck" by Florence + The Machine from their 2015 album How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful. It was also released as a single.

I'm actually not sure if this is the first I've heard of Florence + The Machine, but if I had heard of them, I certainly hadn't thought about them in years. The music sounds very familiar somehow.

The Other McCain starts us off with a story of self-defense. Texas Armed Robber Killed by Delicious Fried Chicken and Well-Aimed Gunfire

Mainly, though, it was the gunfire:

Glen Greenwald - CNN's New "Reporter," Natasha Bertrand, is a Deranged Conspiracy Theorist and Scandal-Plagued CIA Propagandist

The most important axiom for understanding how the U.S. corporate media functions is that there is never accountability for those who serve as propagandists for the U.S. security state. The opposite is true: the more aggressively and recklessly you spread CIA narratives or pro-war manipulation, the more rewarded you will be in that world.

When Russia invaded his homeland again, Antipov never made a deliberate decision to go back to war. The truth is, there was only one path his life could take by then. His country was under attack, and it was his duty to defend it. That’s the way he saw it. Going to war was simple arithmetic, gravity for his soul. Simple as that.

Antipov resumed active-duty service after the Feb. 24 invasion. He regained his previous rank of first lieutenant and became the leader of an assault platoon in the 95th Airborne Assault Brigade.

Self-defense In LA

This has the reporters a bit confused. LA homeowner shoots, kills armed burglar after he and his wife hear footsteps overnight: deputies | Fox News

Self-defense is not "taking matters into your own hands." That phrase usually refers to vigilante action. Self-defense is a recognition that when seconds count, police are only minutes away.

A 27-year-old man and his 26-year-old wife said they heard footsteps and went to investigate the noise.

The male homeowner confronted an armed burglar, and a shootout between the two unfolded. The suspect was shot in the upper torso and was pronounced dead at the scene, FOX 11 Los Angeles reported.

An accomplice ran like a rabbit.

Now if the homeowner chased down, and executed the accomplice, that would be characterized as "taking the law into his own hands."

Self-defense is a human-right, and even in Los Angeles it may be your legal right.

Lies, Damn Lies, and Hillary Clinton's Dirty Tricks

I would love to link to the WSJ op-ed, but it is behind a paywall. WSJ Editors Eviscerate Hillary, Lapdog Media in Blistering Op-Ed About Russia Collusion Lies

It’s time to drop the words “fake news,” “hoax,” and any other descriptor short of blatant and purposeful lies, in reference to Hillary Clinton’s engineering, oversight, and final approval of releasing to the sock-puppet media a preposterous fairy tale that even the worst of armchair sleuths could spot as complete bullcrap.

I will include this one bit from the original - the opening paragraph.

The Russia-Trump collusion narrative of 2016 and beyond was a dirty trick for the ages, and now we know it came from the top—candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton. That was the testimony Friday by 2016 Clinton campaign manager Robby Mook in federal court, and while this news is hardly a surprise, it’s still bracing to find her fingerprints on the political weapon.

Nothing will happen to Clinton. The FBI, the Swamp (but I repeat myself) will never charge her with a crime. They love Hillary.

The Other McCain weighs in on the topic with ‘Guilty! Guilty! Guilty!’.

John Durham has already won. Regardless of how the Michael Sussman trial ends, the Special Counsel has proven through evidence and testimony that the person responsible for the “Russian collusion” smear against Donald Trump was none other than Hillary Clinton.

And I'm going to jump out in front of the situation and say that Robby Mook didn't kill himself.

Chicago Mass Shooter Was Out on Bail

The shooting will be the gun's fault, not the fault of the judges, legislators, et al who released him because keeping violent people in jail is unfair. #20: Alleged mass shooter had a felony gun case pending when he killed 2, wounded 7 near Magnificent Mile, records show - CWB Chicago

A 21-year-old South Shore man who allegedly shot 9 people outside the Chicago Red Line station on Thursday night had a felony gun case pending at the time of the mass shooting, according to court records.

Jaylun Sanders, 21, is the 20th person charged with killing or shooting — or trying to shoot or kill — someone in Chicago this year while awaiting trial for a felony. The alleged crimes involve at least 49 victims, 11 of whom died.

At the time of the shooting he was on bail for felony unlawful use of a weapon.

So, why do they want more gun laws when they won't prosecute gun laws? Oh yeah, to make it difficult for law-abiding citizens, not the criminals.

You can't have civilization without law, order, and security.

So, how is that bail reform working out?

Where Angels Fear To Fly

Battle Beast is a Power Metal band out Finland. They sing in English. Noora Louhimo has a great voice for Power Metal, and it doesn't include any of the Death Growl/harsh vocals that seems to offend the tender sensibilities of some people. (Kids these days and their Melodic Death Metal music... Get off my lawn!)

I don't think it is as good as "Eye of the Storm," but it was working its way up the Spotify Kickass Metal playlist the week after the album was released. And it is better than most of the drek released by the American music industry. It wouldn't quite have been at home on a 1970s Rock & Roll station. Not quite.

This is "Where Angeles Fear to Fly" by Battle Beast from their album Circus of Doom, which was released on January 21st.

As is the case with most music videos, I find it distracts from the music. But it is a good song. Enjoy.

Self-defense Is Legal in Virginia

You can never be sure, but Virginia has a pretty good track record of recognizing your right to defend yourself. Criminal charges dropped in deadly Danville apartment complex shooting

The shooting, which took place in April, was referred to a grand jury.

The jury ultimately dropped the manslaughter charge on Wednesday because they believed the defendant acted out of fear for his life.

Click thru for the details.

How Is That Bail Reform Working Out?

Not to well, according to the victims and their families. #18: Man escaped from electronic monitoring and ran over a cop in a stolen car while fleeing a murder scene, prosecutors say - CWB Chicago

In September, we told you about Antonio Gonzalez after cops allegedly caught him driving a car that was taken in an armed carjacking — while he was on bond for a felony gun case. After our story ran, Gonzalez paid a $1,000 deposit to get out of jail on electronic monitoring.

Then, last month, he allegedly cut his ankle monitor off and went missing. Monday, prosecutors say, Gonzalez stole another car and ran over a cop who was trying to take him into custody for investigation of a murder that had just occurred. The cop’s partner was also injured.

#18 is the count for bail issued in 2022. There is a separate tally for bail issued in 2021. #71: Burglar opened fire on a woman while fleeing her apartment (and while on felony bail), prosecutors say.

Prosecutors on Tuesday said the burglar who fired the shots was her cousin-in-law, Kendall Irvin. He was on bond for felony possession of a stolen motor vehicle and a separate misdemeanor criminal trespass to vehicle case at the time of the alleged crime. He’s now charged with aggravated discharge of a firearm, residential burglary, and two counts of misdemeanor aggravated assault.

Irvin is the 71st person charged with killing or shooting — or trying to shoot or kill — someone in Chicago last year while awaiting trial for a felony.

But it would be unfair to keep people in jail.

What Happens When Government Mandates Organic Agriculture?

20 to 50 percent of the food supply disappears. Switch to organic is splitting Sri Lanka apart at the seams | AGDAILY

Sir Lanka mandated Organic agriculture. Food shortages and an economic crisis are in full swing, and the Prime Minister resigned.

Most accounts show that production dropped between 20 percent to 50 percent of what it was prior to the switch, leaving many of the country’s 22 million people in dire straits. These happenings paint the picture of the clear connection between synthetic crop protection products and food security. And not only had Sri Lanka’s ban on fertilizers, pesticides, weedicides, and fungicides resulted in massive food shortages, it also led to the doubling in price of rice, vegetables, and other market staples.

If you double the price of food, you hurt poor people.

There are some indications that it was a land-grab. Force farmers off the land, by bankrupting them. But starving people are not going to keep voting for the status quo.

Starving people have been known to build guillotines.

Hat tip to Lawrence Person's BattleSwarm Blog: Green Delusions Bring Chaos And Death, in which it is noted that the crisis was predicted.

“Predicted” is the word you want to use there. Or “foretold” if you want to be a little grandiloquent and Biblical for dramatic effect.

And lo, just as the prophecy foretold, it came to pass: [SNIP]

Just as with Lysenkoism or Mao’s war on birds, reliance on delusional theory rather than actual science led to famine and death.

You Are Not Protected By Your Zip Code

A crime wave in an "upscale neighborhood." Riverside man shot several times during home invasion

The main focus of the article is on a particular home invasion. The homeowner was shot multiple times, and is in a local hospital.

But my interest is on the following statement.

This is the third armed home invasion during the last month in the upscale Alessandro Heights neighborhood, according to police.

Those details are provided, and the statement that at least 2 seem related.

I'm a bit surprised that there are no quotes from neighbors about how shocking this whole thing is.

When my father wanted to spend time with friends, they would sometimes go fishing at one of several lakes near his home. When my father wanted to catch fish, he would go to Canada for a week's vacation. My uncle didn't go elk hunting in Illinois; he went out west.

If people want to steal nice stuff, they are going to go to the nice neighborhoods. I don't know why this ever shocks anyone. If you can read this, then you live in The Real World™ where crime can, and all too often does, happen.

Anyway, civilization was nice while it lasted.

Biden Has the Time to Visit Buffalo, Couldn't Go to Waukesha

I guess some victims are more important (to the narrative) than others. Ron Johnson rips Biden for 'apparently' finding resources to go to Buffalo after avoiding Waukesha | Daily Mail Online

'Last year when Darrell Brooks murdered six innocent people and injured over 60 during the Waukesha Christmas parade, the White House claimed President Biden couldn't go to Waukesha because it would require too many 'assets' and 'resources,' Republican Senator Ron Johnson from Wisconsin told DailyMail.com in a statement.

'But within hours of the most recent senseless tragedy, the White House apparently found the resources to plan a presidential trip to Buffalo,' he added. 'These horrors deserve equal attention from the President of the United States, and the media should be pointing out the disparity in his response.'

"The Media" of course, will do no such thing.

Here is the real difference between the two incidents - aside from the race of the bad guys, that is.

Biden, during his trip to Buffalo on Tuesday, will again demand gun control legislation.

Because the gun made him do it, the same way spoons have forced me to be fat. Or something.

No mention of the fact that the Buffalo-shooter referenced gun control in his manifesto, noting that there would be defenseless victims. "Don't clutter the issue with facts!"

Unity or division?

Another Law that Won't Be Prosecuted

Chicago really was a great city. (Past tense) Chicago curfew tightened after killing near 'Bean' sculpture

So there were 5 homicides, and 30 non-fatal shootings in Chicago this past weekend, but one of them has Mayor Groot (Lori Lightfoot) in a snit. It was in front of Cloud Gate, a sculpture in Millennium Park that is commonly known as "The Bean," because it looks like a large mirrored bean.

That is critical, because Millenium park is one of the places suburbanites, and city dwellers go on the weekend, before spending oodles of money on food, and goods in the city. They used to anyway, before the woke policies of this mayor, and the Cook County State's Attorney, Crimesha (also known as Kim Foxx) decided that Law and Order were racist 19th Century concepts that a progressive city like Chicago could do without.

Lightfoot said she hoped and expected that people would abide by the restrictions and that it would not lead to widespread arrests. She said they “don’t want to arrest children,” but those who break the law will be.

Except all they have to do is run away. Cops are not allowed to do foot pursuits, because reasons.

And the shooting that has the mayor in such a snit... a 17-year-old shot a 16-year-old.
