An assistant state’s attorney told her that the Cook County State’s Attorney’s felony review office had “rejected” carjacking charges.
“The facts of this case sound much more like an aggravated vehicular hijacking than a criminal trespass to motor vehicle,” Dawkins said later. “Nonetheless, we’re here in misdemeanor bond court.”
Go read the whole thing. At least the judge did as much as she could under the circumstances.
Someday, Illinois State's Attorney Kim Foxx and her band of non-prosecuting attorneys will be called to explain what they did to law and order in and around Chicago. But today is not that day.

Not anytime soon. When things are bad enough for long enough, "tough on crime" will be back in style. And the people in Chicago, Baltimore, etc. are beginning to see that are suffering due to increased crime. It will be a while before they can admit that the people they elected are the cause.
