University Police Chief Who Said Students "Too Drunk" for 2A Rights Arrested for Drunk Driving

Some days the jokes write themselves. From Shooting News Weekly: UNH Police Chief Who Testified Students are ‘Too Drunk’ for Campus Carry is Arrested…For Drunk Driving

Your vocabulary lesson for the day: Projection.

Psychological projection
Projection is the process of displacing one’s feelings onto a different person, animal, or object. The term is most commonly used to describe defensive projection—attributing one’s own unacceptable urges to another.

I wonder if they do random drug/alcohol testing at the University of New Hampshire. Somehow I doubt it.

Enter Steven Lee, the 50-year-old Chief of Police at the University of New Hampshire. He recently testified that college students absolutely shouldn’t be trusted with guns on campus. Reason? “They’re too drunk,” he said. The gun control advocate, using his professional position as Chief of Police — advocating that New Hampshire protect the kids by keeping them disarmed. Assume they’re constantly intoxicated and irresponsible.

Fast-forward to present day: Chief Lee — badge, gun, and all — was pulled over in Portsmouth at almost 1 a.m. (Pro-tip for the chief: nothing good happens after midnight.)

Chief Steven Lee was (allegedly) hammered enough to earn himself a pair of shiny bracelets and a DUI charge.

The Chief is now on vacation paid leave.

The Shooter yelled 'Free Palestine'

From Fox News: New Hampshire wedding shooter yelled 'Free Palestine,' witness says

The shooter who killed a man and wounded two other adults during a wedding at a New Hampshire country club on Saturday yelled "Free Palestine" as the chaos unfolded, a witness told The Associated Press.

Tom Bartelson of Pepperell, Massachusetts, told the outlet that he was at Sky Meadow Country Club in Nashua, New Hampshire, for his nephew’s wedding when he heard the individual say, "The children are safe," and, "Free Palestine." Bartelson added that the shooter appeared to be targeting someone.

Investigators say two things. One makes sense. One is the usual insanity.

  1. There is no known connection between the guy who died, and the shooter
  2. Investigators are unable to determine a motive.

It's a mystery to the authorities. I'm going to call it terror. Maybe I'm wrong. Hat tip goes to the Gunblog Blacklist and Langley Outdoors Academy.

There Is a War Against Christianity

It just isn't being covered by the legacy media. From Sarah Anderson at PJ Media: The Nanny State Shut Down a Small New Hampshire Church. Now Pam Bondi Is Involved.

Howard Kaloogian used his barn to host weddings, and parties, and the town had no problem with that. But then he decided that he was going to host church services, and the town went ballistic.

But when Weare's zoning officer, Tony Sawyer, found out that Kaloogian was hosting church services, he personally "showed up at Kaloogian’s front door and told him he could no longer use any part of his home, including the barn, for religious assemblies. The barn was zoned residential—assemblies constitute a 'change in use,' and Kaloogian would be required to complete a site plan application and seek a conditional use permit (which Sawyer said would most likely be denied)."

Eventually after years of back and forth with the city, First Liberty Institute filed a lawsuit.

The city tried a delaying tactic, saying that the issues were not ready to be heard in court, but now the Trump administration is involved and saying that no delays should be given.

I know it's just one little church in New Hampshire, but it's a perfect example of what goes on across this country every day. It's rare and certainly not something I've felt much in my lifetime, but each day, it feels more and more like Donald Trump and his team are on the side of the American people. That's exactly what I voted for.

The authoritarians don't like the 1st amendment, or the 2nd amendment. The 4th has been gutted. Is there any amendment that they do like?

Prosecutors HATE Self-defense

From the description in the article it seems fairly straight forward, but it still took the DA from April to January to decide he couldn't win a court case. Manchester shooting ruled self-defense, no criminal charges filed

There was witness testimony. There was physical evidence, including a knife. The shooter called 911.

Okay, the article actually does not say when the DA made this determination. But why would the media report on it now, if the DA made that determination in September? Or any other time?

Around 7 p.m. April 4, 2023, Nagle was visiting his girlfriend, Syncere Mitchell, at her apartment complex when a man, later identified as Yancey, entered through an unlocked door and sat at the kitchen table next to Mitchell’s roommate, Dennis Carlsen, according to the report. Yancey opened a can of beer he brought with him.

Carlsen asked Mitchell if she knew Yancey, and when she said no, they asked Yancey to leave the residence.

Things went downhill from there. Click thru for the details.

Self-defense is a human-right, and it might be your legal right in New Hampshire, but I'm not sure I would count on that being true.

DA's HATE Self-defense

They are so disappointed when they can't charge someone for defending themselves. No charges after man claims self-defense in fatal Keene shooting

Frazier told investigators that's when Chagnon ran up the stairs, pushed the door open and got in Frazier's face. Frazier told police he warned Chagnon several times to get back or he would shoot and eventually fired the gun.

Investigators said that there was some evidence supporting Frazier's self-defense claim, but there is also differing information police got from witnesses, as well as a lack of objective evidence for self-defense.

It doesn't say explicitly in the article, but the "witnesses" were probably the friends of the dead-guy, who had followed to homeowner onto his property. They just hadn't invaded his house.

It took one year for the DA to admit defeat, because they HATE self-defense. (Hat tip to Keep and Bear Arms.)

Keene, New Hampshire is about 60 miles northwest of Boston, and about 40 miles west-southwest of Concord.

Self-defense Is Legal in New Hampshire

Though it took almost a year (about a week short of a year) for the Prosecutor to admit that. Manchester Father, Who Fatally Shot His Son In 2020, Cleared

A man was attacked by his son, to the point where he was injured. Black eye, cuts, etc.

Alan knocked George to the ground, at which point George realized Alan was serious, so George got very scared. George was telling Alan to get off him and was trying to fight back, but Alan was approximately 100 pounds larger. George said this went on for about 20 minutes, and he was fighting for his life. George then said that he always carries a small gun in his left pocket, so while he was on the ground, he shot Alan twice. He thought one shot hit Alan in the leg, and the other in the stomach. George said, "I had to protect myself; he was gonna kill me." Alan leaned over a little bit, and George ran out of the house through the kitchen and to the neighbors' house, and he told them to call 911. George brought the gun to the neighbors' house.

It didn't take a year for the cops to complete their investigation. There was no one to interview. The cops themselves made note of George's injuries when they arrived on the scene. And there is no mention of a grand jury being involved.

This took a year, because prosecutors HATE self-defense. Granted, the Prosecutor's report is 41 pages, but anyone who got through law school should be able to write 41 pages in less than one year.

The Media Really Hate the Idea of Self-defense

Self-reliance? Individual action? Individual responsibility? We can't have that! Self-Defense Claim A Potential In Concord Fatal Shooting: AG.

The lawyers don't like it much either.

A homeless guy was trespassed at a building on Friday. On Saturday he was back, and banging on an apartment door. He ended up with a gunshot wound to the chest, courtesy of the resident of that apartment.

According to police, dispatch, witnesses, and scanner chatter, a caller from the complex called police accusing Wigglesworth of banging on the door of an apartment and then, hearing gunshots. Police and firefighters responded to the building and found Wigglesworth suffering from a gunshot wound on the fourth floor of the complex, according to Kate Giaquinto, the director of communications for the attorney general's office.

The resident of that apartment is cooperating with police, but that is not enough for the DA's office or the media to jump to the conclusion that this was justifiable self-defense. How would you respond to a homeless guy trying to break into your home?

Self-defense is a human-right, but this took place in New Hampshire, which is closer (on several levels) to New Jersey than it is to Texas.

More Infrastructure Being Updated

Usually you only read about dams when one has failed. For a change, here is a dam that is being replaced. New Ossipee Lake Dam celebrated in Freedom

The existing dam is 135 years old, and showing signs of failure.

The upgrade was about 20 years in the making.

[DES Water Division Director Thomas] O’Donovan recalled the major flood of 1998 which he said caused $1 million worth of damage around the lake, which he said was due to the “inability to manage the impoundment correctly.”

Plans for the upgrade didn't start in 1998, but did start shortly after that in 2002. It took that long to get the design done, and approved and funding in place.

The new dam has a safer, modern spillway, has a larger flow capacity to reduce flooding and has automated spillway gates.

The old dam relies on stop logs which have to be added and removed manually, though they are currently jammed, making it impossible to manage the water level.

I can't find a decent photo of the existing dam that is in the public domain. Click the link at the top of this post for a view of the dam under construction.

New Hampshire has a couple of dozen "high hazard" dams that need attention. High Hazard refers to the potential of loss-of-life and economic impact in the event a failure, not a statement on the condition of the dam.
