Lizzie

A duet from two of my favorite Heavy Metal divas? Why not? It might not be quite appropriate for Metal for Mondays, but then I make the rules.

This is "Lizzie" by Charlotte Wessles and Alissa White-Gluz. It was originally released as a Patron's only track on Patreon, and then on Charlotte Wessel's 2021 album Tales From Six Feet Under. The video was released on YouTube shortly before Halloween.

Bill Maher gives it to the Buzzkill-inducing people with their lists of "problematic costumes."

If Halloween is too much for your fragile sensibilities and you’re worried about seeing someone wearing something that’s on the forbidden costume list, just stay the fuck home.

Here is the video of his closing monologue: New Rule: All Scolds Day | Real Time with Bill Maher (HBO)

A Mother Defends Her Children

When a Texan tells you that she is armed, you should believe her. Home intruder arrested after being shot by Texas mother through bedroom door | Washington Examiner

She had locker herself and her children in the bedroom. She told him she was armed and that police had been called. He was still trying to gain entry to the bedroom.

When Garcia refused to leave and continued to try to get into the bedroom, the homeowner shot once through the door. Garcia fled the house.

Cops found him outside with a gunshot wound to the arm. They took him for medical treatment, and then they took him to the county lockup.

The case is still an open investigation. Garcia has been charged with burglary of habitation with intent, a second-degree felony in Texas. Meanwhile, the homeowner is not facing charges.

Self-defense, and defense of family is a human-right, and this took place in Texas, which has not morphed into New Jersey.

Cops Have a Dangerous Job. Cops at Uvalde Didn't Like That

You would think that cops who were in Uvalde that day didn't know being a police officer was a dangerous job, before they arrived at the school. BODY CAM FOOTAGE: Uvalde cops complained they were afraid to get shot during massacre | The Post Millennial

Newly leaked footage of Uvalde police officers shows a group of armed men covered in body armor expressing fear of getting "clapped out," shot, or putting themselves in any danger whatsoever during the massacre at Robb Elementary School on May 24 during a massacre that saw 19 children and two teachers killed.

Local NBC News obtained the footage which featured the conversation between two unidentified Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) officers unable to figure out what to do or where to go at the school. One said, "Want to jump the f*cking gate or what?" to which the other replied "What is the safest way to do this? I’m not trying to get clapped out."

And if they didn't want to accept the risk, what is their rationale for stopping the people, the parents, who WERE willing to accept the risk, with much less equipment? That didn't want to look bad? Well, they failed miserably at that, because one thing is certain; they all look like cowardly idiots.

According to the New York Post, [Texas Department of Public Safety Director Steve] McGraw also said he would resign if his team was found to have any culpability in the botched response, which they were. But McGraw has said, "I can tell you this right now: DPS as an institution, right now, did not fail the community — plain and simple."

McGraw has refused to resign despite calls for him to do so from the parents of the dead children.

So he is sure his team did nothing wrong, even though it is clear they did a lot wrong, and he's sure of that BEFORE the inquiry is finished, so I guess that means it is a foregone conclusion. How do you spell "Whitewash?" And even though he promised to resign, he won't resign because he knows what that foregone conclusion is. Are cops investigating cops? Sure sounds like it.

Not only should he resign. Every cop who was in Uvalde the day of the massacre, and stood around with his thumb up his ass, should resign. They won't. The overriding cry of the bureaucrat is, "It's not my fault." (Hat tip to Gates of Vienna.)

Soft-on-crime Yields More Crime

Is anyone shocked by this, except for the Progressives? Blue cities bleeding: Homicide rates surging in major cities run by Soros-backed DAs | Just The News

In fact, homicide rates rose by an average of nearly 10% in 50 of the most populated U.S. cities between the third quarter of last year and the third quarter of this year — and are still rising — according to a new study. [SNIP]

The top prosecutors in most of these cities are backed by progressive megadonor George Soros, a billionaire who's spent the last several years injecting tens of millions of dollars into local district attorney races nationwide, backing candidates who support policies such as abolishing bail, defunding the police, and decriminalizing or deprioritizing certain offenses.

Click thru for the top 10 cities in terms of crime rate per 100,000 residents, some information on a few of the prosecutors involved, and the Progressive spin, which basically amounts to, "It's not our fault!"

Hat tip to Lawrence Person's Battleswarm Blog.

Confirmation of what we already know: Homicide rates surging in major cities run by Soros-backed DAs.

If you make something cheaper, you will see more of it, and Left has waged an all-out struggle to reduce the cost of crime to the criminal. It is still a burden on the victims, but the Progressive Left doesn't seem to care about them. Or maybe their long-term goals really do require chaos in the streets of our cities.

After the break is one of my favorite poems, and it comes to mind when I see stories like this. Perfectly predictable results arising from predictably insane policies. But then Progressives want to replace what works, with what sounds good. At least it sounds good to them. Anyway you will find Kipling's "Gods of the Copybook Headings" after the break

Kathleen Booth, Computer Pioneer: 9 July 1922 to 29 September 2022

People underestimate how many women were involved in the early days of electronic computing. It really wasn't until the 1970s that computing became skewed toward men and boys. Kathleen Booth, computer pioneer who made a major breakthrough in programming – obituary

Originally computer programs were written in machine code – sequences of binary ones and zeros – and reprogramming was a laborious process involving much rewiring and changes of switches. Assembly languages made the whole process much easier, the instructions in the language being converted into machine code by a program called an assembler.

Assembly languages revolutionised computer programming, and although they are described as “low-level” (most programming languages these days are “high-level”), they still have important applications in computing, including enabling programmers to manipulate hardware directly.

Click thru, you might learn something. (It will only hurt for a minute.)

Hat tip goes to Pixy Misa at Ambient Irony: Daily News Stuff 30 October 2022. And basically wins quote of the day.

The inventor of assembly language has passed away at the age of 1100100. (The Telegraph / MSN)

Kathleen Booth was an early computer scientist - her degree was in applied mathematics because there were no computer science degrees in 1947 - and worked as the programmer for a British team building some of the very first von Neumann architecture systems. Which is, basically, every computer in the world today.

Another Victim of Criminal Justice Reform

Two prior gun cases, that he pleaded out, and now this. Raelynn Cameron, 17, shot dead after refusing gunman's advances at Brooklyn party: prosecutors

They keep letting these criminals skate until eventually they kill someone. They say they want more gun laws, but won't take the ones they have to trial. And so this kind of thing is not unheard of.

He shot her because his delicate ego got stepped on. What a big man he is.

The man accused of killing 17-year-old Raelynn Cameron at a Brooklyn party earlier this month shot the teen after she spurned his advances.

Actually, she was bit more direct than that statement implies. Click thru for the details.

There are also more details on the 2 gun arrests that apparently resulted in no jail time. Without consequences, why does anyone expect behavior to change?

But keeping violent offenders in jail is unfair. Or something.

That's Not How Markets Work

Not even the world of Cypto. Well, it is how scams work in the world of Crypto. Freeway, Crypto Platform That Promised 43% Returns, Halts Withdrawals

A $100 million rug-pull.

Freeway, a UK-based Crypto platform that promised annual returns up to a mind-boggling 43%, halted withdrawals on Sunday, according to a notice published to the company’s website. Freeway’s native cryptocurrency, which goes by the ticker FWT, plummeted 74% following the announcement and, to top it all off, the Freeway website appears to be scrubbing the names and photos of some executives.

They halted trading 1 day after a Twitter user accused them of running a Ponzi scheme and telling people to head for the exits. Freeway basically closed their doors and disappeared.

Real markets cannot guarantee 43% return.

The other cautionary tale is Mango Markets. They lost $114 million, not to a hack exactly, someone found a weakness in their "market's" conditions and exploited it. Mango Markets was in danger of shutting down, but Avraham Eisenberg gave the bulk of the money - $67 million - back, so that the company would not be insolvent.

I'm not saying that you can't make money in cryptocurrencies. You can, if you know what you are doing. Most people don't, and they see "guaranteed 43% returns!" and believe that it is real.

If something sounds too good to be true, it probably isn't true.

I'm not sure why any of this surprises me. Well the boldness of lies is a bit amazing. But Americans have been looking for the easy out for a long time now. The Dot Com insanity of the '90s. (It doesn't matter the widgets.com only has the revenue of your average dry-cleaner, they are definitely worth more than GM!) Then there was the "You can't lose money in Real Estate" mania that blew up in 2008. And now everything Crypto. It isn't only investing of course. Actually get a college degree that requires work? "I'm following my bliss!" And then people are distraught to realize that following their bliss resulted in a great deal of student debt and no marketable skills.

Do You Think Politicians Could Wage War on Cops Without Help?

The media is also waging that war. New Signs CBS, Dave Savini Shattered the Career of Chicago Police Officer? | Chicago Contrarian

Media bias, "wokeness" and manipulation is nothing new in Chicago. It is, as they say, standard operating procedure. However, what is most compelling about Officer Murphy’s plight is the complete failure of nearly every institution in the city to back her up for almost giving her life on the job to Brown, whose claims of being a victim are, to be charitable, highly suspicious.

But the media doesn't care about cops. They want to tear cops down. They are on the side of the woke, who want no cops. And the utter chaos that will follow.

Now I am not blind to the bad behavior of cops. If you read this blog, you know that. And I am really not blind to the bad behavior of Chicago cops, since I have seen it in action, up close and personal as they say. Cops, at least back in the day, hated gays and lesbians. Probably a lot of them still do. Though the gays had it worse. But I also recognize that you have to enforce the law. Calling bad cops out is not the same as destroying the criminal justice system in the Blue Cities.

Murphy’s incredible betrayal is a fitting allegory for the dire reality of policing in America’s large cities, the worst being Chicago. It is rooted in the breakdown of a malevolent, unaccountable media, among whom Dave Savini is an appalling example.

The mayor and even FOP get called out. Click thru.

Mr. Pelosi Attacked in a Case of Bizarre Timing

There is so much that is bizarre about this incident... Deranged Canadian Nudist Breaks Into Nancy Pelosi’s SF Mansion and Attacks Her Husband With Hammer

It is, of course, the Republican's fault, if you listen the media. He is "far right" even though he lives in The Castro district of San Francisco, and has BLM signs in his windows. Sounds legit to me.

Y’know, I don’t believe in conspiracy theories, but excuse me if I question the timing of David DePape’s attack at Pelosi’s mansion. It reminds me of how, just before the 2018 midterms — Oct. 27, almost four years to the day before DePape’s rampage — a guy suddenly decided it was time to go shoot up a Pittsburgh synagogue. So we’ve seen this happen in two consecutive midterms, where a random kook suddenly decides that the last week of October is an excellent time to “strike a blow” for whatever lunatic cause he considers himself to represent. Those who recall the history of MK-ULTRA and COINTELPRO might be inspired to wonder if the use of agents provocateurs by the federal national security apparatus (a/k/a “The Deep State”) could somehow be implicated in this curious pattern

Blue Cities Don't Want to Fight Crime

If Democrats in Blue Cities wanted to reduce crime, criminals would be in jail. 6 days after getting out of prison for punching a woman and kicking a Chicago cop in the groin, he allegedly punched another woman and kicked another Chicago cop in the groin - CWB Chicago

Six days after getting out of prison for punching a woman in the face during a robbery attempt downtown — and kicking a Chicago cop in the groin — James Killingsworth on Tuesday allegedly punched a woman in the face on the CTA and kicked another Chicago cop in the groin. But the Illinois Department of Corrections is not revoking his parole.

Because keeping violent offenders in jail would be unfair. Or something. So what is the purpose of parole, if breaking the rules results in no consequences? Is it only a jobs program for bureaucrats?

Things won't get better until people stop voting for politicians that back insane policies.

Things will have to get a lot worse before the people of Chicago wake up to the disaster that is the Criminal Justice system.

Not the Sharpest Tools in the Shed

They killed one of their own while committing a home invasion. How would you describe them? Arkansas men facing murder charges in September Camden shooting

Friendly fire? With friends like this...

A husband, wife, and a two-year-old child were at home when a group of miscreants appeared at the back door to the home.

Here is how the crime went down:

The wife was ordered to get on the ground at gunpoint and the suspects allegedly fired several rounds into the home. After learning that the homeowner was armed, the suspects fled the scene. The victims exited the residence and found [Andretti] Austin, who was an additional suspect, dead on the property.

From that statement I believe that the dead guy was shot by one of his companions while they were on their way in. That is a failure of safe gun-handling, which is stupid. There are varying numbers of rules, depending on who you talk to, but the 4 rules that most people cite, would keep this kind of thing from happening.

Anyway, four adults were eventually arrested.

On Wednesday, October 26, 2022, officials confirmed that 18-year-old Keaton Arnold, 23-year-old Tyrese Henry, 22-year-old Carlton Henry, and 22-year-old Zykeial Gulley are each facing charges of 36 counts of committing a terroristic act, aggravated residential burglary, first-degree battery, two counts of aggravated assault and capital murder.

A death occurred as a foreseeable consequence of their actions while they were committing a felony. The lawyers call that by different names in different places, but most of us non-lawyer-types call that Felony Murder.

The Left will be screeching about that is not fair in a matter of minutes. Hold people accountable for the consequences of their actions? What next, individual responsibility of funding retirement?

Being armed in your own defense is not a guarantee that nothing bad will happen. The homeowner was shot. But his being armed is why they left, or do you think they would have left living witnesses behind to testify against them?

In addition to the 4 men listed above, there are two juveniles who were detained with regards to the this incident.

Self-defense is a human-right.

The Cauldron Born

This song is "Ghastly Stomp" by The Ghastly Ones from their 1998 album A-Haunting We Will Go-Go.

Lefties, the Media, Biden, and Attacks on Chrissie Mayr

And yes I know "Leftists and The Media" are redundant. Ace at Ace of Spades HQ unloads on the fawning media. AP: If Every Little Boy and Girl Could Just Know the Sweet Sexy Power of One of Joe Biden's Taken-from-Behind Thunderhugs, His Approval Rating Would be 69%

Classic Ace. I won't try to quote it all... go read it. I will say it is a running joke on the Q-Anon BS of "adrenochrome-rich children."

I'm making the joke not because I believe in any of that, but because 1, I think it's kind of funny to just joke about "adrenochrome-rich children," because 2, pearl-clutching faggots like Jake Tapper will freak out if you make Forbidden Jokes and I like upsetting pearl-clutching faggots like Jake Tapper.

Not to ruin the joke by explaining the joke, but a big part of humor is trying to find out what you're Not Allowed to Joke About and then joking about it. When I heard Chrissie Mayr mention adrenochrome, then I looked it up (because it seemed like a neat word), I was like, "Oh hell yeah, I'm definitely not allowed to talk about that, that will definitely make Jake Tapper very very Concerned!"

Hat tip to The Other McCain: ‘Adrenochrome-Rich Young Girls’, who covers the history from Hunter S. Thompson’s Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.

What does this have to do with Joe Biden sniffing little girls?

Nothing, actually, but Ace of Spades started having fun with the adrenochrome conspiracy theory while mocking Associated Press reporter Zeke Miller’s fawning feature article about what a swell guy Biden is in one-on-one personal contact situations:

And Chrissie Mayr, who has a quite funny YouTube channel, got dinged over a story that was running on the major new sites, because she's conservative. (They said the news footage - which was on YT under the media channels) was "too graphic." You might like some of her videos, though you should be warned that some of them are quite long.

The only thing sad about the whole thing is that it isn't a fantasy. There is a crazy (dirty?) old man in the White House sniffing children, the media is fawning all over him despite his shortcomings, and the incipient explosion of rage from derision and mockery aimed both at them and their guy will be off-the-scale.

What happened to this country?

Fetterman, The Media, and the Lies

From The Other McCain - Why Democrats Can’t Take the ‘L’

The media deliberately misled the public about the severity of Fetterman’s condition, which so damaged his capacity for speech that, if he’s not capable of forming coherent sentences now, after months of recovery, he sure as hell was in no shape to be giving these glib quotes to the media in May, when he was at death’s door.

There must be a word for this — ah, yes, “disinformation,” they call it.

If you bring up the stroke you're prejudiced against the disabled, except of course the Democrats won't admit that Fetterman has a disability.

I miss the days when politics was (somewhat) sane. Or has it always been this way, I was just in denial?

Again from The Other McCain - A Widespread Mental Disorder

This is what blind partisanship does to people. No matter who the Democrats nominate for any important office, that person is going to get 80% of the vote in Philadelphia. Hillary Clinton got 83% of the vote in Philadelphia and, while we’re on the topic of brain-damaged imbeciles, Joe Biden got 81% of the vote in Philadelphia. And because Philadelphia accounts for about 11% of the statewide vote in Pennsylvania, this lopsided 4-to-1 Democrat majority in Philadelphia almost always results in Democrats winning every statewide election in Pennsylvania.

Ex-NYPD Commissioner Slams NYC Mayor Adams

The Democrats don't appear to want to get crime under control. They are doing things that show they want chaos. Ex-NYPD Commish Ray Kelly slams Mayor Adams on crime

“We were the safest big city in America just a few years ago,” Kelly told host John Catsimatidis on WABC 770 AM radio’s “Cats Roundtable.”

Ray Kelly was NYC's police commissioner in the early 1990s. He then had several federal positions, including an anti-terrorist post in the Clinton administration.

Kelly took particular issue with runaway subway and bus crimes in the five boroughs, saying the deployment of transit cops has to be “re-examined” by “an outside agency.”

At some point, even in a place like NYC, if taking transit means risking life and limb, then people will stop taking transit.

As for the mayor, he is blaming the media for creating a "perception of crime." Except that there is real crime to go along with the perception.

New York City subway crime has run rampant this year, with nine subway system homicides so far and a 39% leap in violent crime in the system as of August compared to 2019, stats show.

Between the courts telling cops not to do things, the state legislature telling cops and judges not to do things (cash bail anyone?), and the mayor pretending all is well, I don't see how things are going to get much better in New York any time soon. I would get out while the getting is good.

Civilization Was Nice While It Lasted

But it seems to be gone from New York City. Trio in ski masks abducts girl on way home from NYC school

A 13-year-old girl was abducted by three men in ski masks while walking home from her Brooklyn high school — but managed to escape, police said.

The suspects forced the teen into a dark four-door sedan just before 7 p.m. Tuesday, grabbing her as she headed south on George Street, near Cypress Avenue, in Ridgewood, according to cops.

She managed to escape from the car after a few blocks

The concerning incident comes about a week after a man in a blue van attempted to abduct a student near her school, Stephen A. Halsey JHS 157 in Rego Park, on Oct. 17, according to police and officials.

I miss civilized behavior.

Electric Batteries and Salt Water Don't Mix

And SW Florida is having a tough time of it after Hurricane Ian. Florida firefighters face difficult battle while responding to electric car fires

Crews have been seen rushing to hose down electric cars that were damaged by Hurricane Ian in Southwest Florida.

Officials said the car batteries are catching fire and endangering everyone around them.

The last part comes from the fact that fumes from such a fire are very toxic. If you watch the news video, you will see that all of the firefighters working to put out these fires are wearing their breathing rigs/air tanks.

“A normal car fire we could put out with 500 to 700 gallons,” [Ed Angelotti, district chief of special operations for the Orlando Fire Department,] said. “These type of fires are taking what’s the whole package fire out and cooling down the batteries. You’re talking anywhere from 20, 30, 40,000 gallons of water.”

I don't know why people got convinced that EVs were good for the environment. And it is one thing to need 30K gallons of water in Florida, and another for places like West Texas or Arizona. (And yes I do know that Florida is perennially short of water. I lived there for a number of years. It isn't like it is in New Mexico or Arizona.)

NYPD Cops Are Quitting and Retiring at Record Pace

Who can blame them? NYPD on pace to see record 4K-cop mass exit by year's end: pension fund stats

“New York has become Dodge City — and those who can are getting out of Dodge. And not just the cops,” said Michael Alcazar, a retired NYPD detective and an adjunct professor at John Jay College of Criminal Justice.

For New York’s Finest, surging crime, bail reform, anti-cop hostility, the defund-the-police movement, and battles over the city’s vaccination mandate are signs that it’s time to go.

Fewer cops means more overtime, which is already out of control. More overtime, won't make more cops stay.

“I have no regrets about leaving,” [an ex-NYPD officer who took a private-sector gig after only seven years on the force] told The Post. “From what I hear from the many officers I still speak to, the NYPD has actually somehow become worse in just the few months I’ve been gone. I didn’t even know that was possible. The job has become unsustainable for a lot of people — financially, mentally, everything about it.

“Officers want to have pride in what we do, but pride only goes so far when you’re constantly being beat down and treated like a child by the department’s incompetent and ignorant leaders and disrespected by the public on a daily basis. When the whole system is working against you, when you can’t cover your bills, and never see your family, you start to ask ‘Why am I doing this anymore?’”

If you think things are bad in NYC today (they are) wait until there are significantly fewer police officers. The pipe-dreams of the Progressives notwithstanding, that will not make things better.

First State Cop Fired Due to Uvalde Screw-up

The job is dangerous, but they knew that when they signed up for the job. First Texas state law enforcement officer fired amid probe into Uvalde school shooting response | Fox News

The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating seven people. A key finding of a previous report in July was:

"They failed to prioritize saving the lives of innocent victims over their own safety," the report said.

There are also other problems coming to light. This first guy who got fired was at the school 5 minutes before the "official timeline" shows anyone from Texas DPS at the school that day.

He was accused of not following proper protocol for active shooter situations.

Experts say the stolen master keys are used by theft crews that steal checks, credit cards, and documents to fuel identity theft operations.

I would have to look to be, but I think all postal master keys are the same for the entire country. The photograph provided sure looks familiar. Fire departments have similar keys, but they are divided by region of the country. So a fire department key would still open every apartment building door in Chicago, or New York, or wherever.

A CWB source said that mail thieves are “part of a larger operation that uses stolen mail to open checking accounts and launder stolen checks,” among other crimes.

Washing checks is apparently a still a thing. Check fraud has increased from 13,000 for all of 2021 to 17,000 cases so far in 2022 just in Chicago. (Oh, and the article on check washing recommends the use gel pens with black ink for writing checks.)

I believe that the keys open both the vestibule outer door as well as the banks of mail boxes.

I Hate When I Miss Important Anniversaries

Agincourt: 25 October 1415. St. Crispin’s Day: ‘If We Are Mark’d to Die, We Are Enough to Do Our Country Loss’

Outnumbered two or three to one, the British, relying heavily on the Welsh Longbow - the high-tech weapon of its day - defeated the French at Agincourt.

Great victories in warfare require great risk. Even if a commander has the numerical odds in his favor, the fortunes of war are always uncertain, and there is therefore danger in undertaking any offensive operation. Certainly, history affords many examples of battles where the attacking force had every advantage, and yet the troops in the vanguard suffered shocking casualties, as in Operation Overlord, where the Americans had to fight like hell to gain a foothold at Omaha Beach.

Included is the "Band of Brothers" soliloquy from Shakespeare's Henry V. You should click thru for that.

The number of French killed was equal to the entire size of Henry’s army! The French never really recovered the prestige they lost at Agincourt, and why this great defeat? Because Henry was willing to take the risk of fighting against the odds. Therefore truly, Oct. 25 “shall ne’er go by . . . to the ending of the world,” that we do not stop to recall the feats of King Henry V and his “band of brothers.”

Keon J. Washington, 32, kicked in a back door of a home in the area of Disbrow and Carnation streets around 4:45 p.m. Friday and was confronted by the homeowner, according to city police.

Police said the homeowner — who legally owned a firearm — gave Washington warnings to stop and leave before shooting Washington.

Cops found him a short time later. He was armed with a large butcher knife. Cops took him to a local hospital.

He was charged with several things including making terroristic threats.

So. drive to the airport. Go thru security. Board. Fly 30 miles. Deplane. That's for a dozen people.

If you really push battery size you might get to fly 19 people 160 miles. Even if the 160 miles works out, how many plans do you need at 19 people per? That works for DC to Baltimore (maybe). But it doesn't work for Chicago to Cincinnati, or even Indianapolis to Chicago.

A report of an active shooter inside Stevens Point Area Senior High with several people shot is one of a flurry of false threats reported nationwide, officials said.

According to Point Plover Metro Wire, Stevens Point Police Lt. Joe Johnson confirmed receipt of a 911 call with the false report. The caller was male with a heavy accent and was the only call received in Stevens Point reporting such an incident.

Sarah O’Donnell, communications director for the district, told PPMW there is a slew of false alarms across Wisconsin and Minnesota on Thursday.

Click thru for more details. The interesting thing is that in at least one case the police seem to have reacted in exactly the same way police in Uvalde, Texas reacted. Set up a perimeter, and stop parents - or anyone else - from entering the school. If it had been a real active shooter, it would have probably been a repeat of the Uvalde tragedy.

In September in San Antonio, for example, when parents responded to a school en masse after receiving a lockdown alert some scuffled with officers outside the building as panic ensued. One man punched his fist through a window to try to enter the building, according to the Associated Press. That call was later deemed a hoax.

When exactly are cops going to learn that the "set up a perimeter" idea is stupid?

People are stupid, but so are police.

Why New Orleans Sucks

A Wall Street Journal article that is not behind a paywall? They must think this is important. Why New Orleans Has the Highest Murder Rate in America - WSJ

The murder rate in NOLA during the first half of the year was 41 per 100,000 residents. During the same time, the murder rate in Chicago was 11.5, in Los Angeles it was 4.8, and in NYC it was 2.4 per 100,000.

That is reflected in the 100% increase in shootings over the same period from 2019.

The average 911 response time is 2½ hours. Depending on the call, they may show up tomorrow.

When a witness identified a suspect in an attempted carjacking, cops refused to arrest the person, and told the victim to buy a gun.

There is more, including some politics, and the conditions that rule policing due to a judicial decree. There some blaming of evil guns - it is a media outlet after all.

No mention is made of bail, prosecutions, or anything aside from police. They do mention staffing problems, but imply it is all the PDs fault for not recruiting enough.

School Employees Let Armed Gunmen Enter the Building

This story of incompetence is amazing for 2 reasons. The first is that it happened at all. The second is that the national media is steadfastly ignoring it. The Police Tribune: VIDEO: Administrators Let Masked, Armed Gunmen Into High School To Protect Them From Police

While this is a local story, I couldn't find anything in the national media talking about it.

Administrators at a high school in Cleveland have some serious explaining to do after video and audio recordings showed they let four armed, masked teens into the school building last month while classes were in session because they were trying to protect the suspects from the police outside (video below).

Four masked and armed "teens" were let into the school because two assistant principals. A school security officer saw the teens arrive, and saw that they were armed, and called 911. The administrators worried for the armed, gunmen and that they might be in danger from the police. Forget about the safety of the students in the school.

I doubt that those 2 principals will be let go, or even disciplined in anyway. And you can't charge them with felony stupidity.

This could have escalated in so many ways. The gunmen could have threatened the principals to gain access to the rest of the school. Or do you think that the geniuses would die to protect students if one of the armed miscreants put a gun to their head?

The only reason I know about this incident is because of Ruined Leon.

This is the Ruined Leon video for Principal Lets Gunman Into School To Protect Them From Cops.

Mark Zuckerberg - Climate Hypocrite

Because he is better than you, so the rules he wants you to obey are beneath him. Mark Zuckerberg uses private jet frequently despite climate activism

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, an outspoken proponent of climate change activism, owns a private jet which burned more than $158,000 worth of jet fuel in less than two months.

One of those trips was 28 miles, between Carlsbad, California and San Diego.

Zuckerberg is not the only one of course.

Leonardo DiCaprio, Harrison Ford and Steven Spielberg have each frequently traveled on private jets while expressing concern about human-caused global warming.

Spielberg’s Gulfstream G650 burned $116,000 worth of jet fuel between June and August.

If any of these people really believed that Climate Change was an existential threat they would change their behavior. But they want you to change your behavior. No, they want you to give up your freedom, because it is really freedom that they hate.

They will continue to fly in private jets, buy mansions at sealevel in places like Martha's Vineyard, but you need to stop driving your car, stop eating beef and eat bugs instead, and in general act like serf. So just shut up and do what they tell you, peasant. (Hat tip to William Teach.)

Good Guy With a Gun, and Cops Being Assaulted

I'm fairly certain that is one of the things that the gun-hating Left claims never happens. Passerby shoots man attacking deputies near Kinston home

The sheriff said the man, who he described as a large man, was fighting with the deputies.

WITN reports a passerby saw what was happening and shot the man believing the deputies were in danger. The man shot, who has not been identified, was taken to the hospital.

In a statement (from a different article on this incident) the sheriff had some words.

“The witness told us that these deputies were being overpowered and the witness was in fear for their lives,” [Sheriff Ronnie] Ingram said.

The DA will make determinations about charges, but it is likely that the guy who got shot will be charged with assaulting the officers.

The deputies received some medical attention for bumps and bruises from the fight.

Self-defense, and defense of others, is a human-right.

New York State Law Prohibiting Concealed Carry in Houses of Worship...

It is on hold for now.

Temporary restraining order placed on NYS ruling preventing concealed carry in places of worship

A federal judge has issued a temporary restraining order prohibiting the prosecution of the new New York State gun law that makes carrying a firearm in places of worship a felony.

Because it isn't like anyone has ever been attacked at a house of worship. Or maybe the governor and legislature of New York hate Jews and Christians.

This article doesn't mention them, but a group of Orthodox Jews also sued NY State over this issue. I had a post on that suit at the time: Hate Doesn't Take the Sabbath Off

But none of this was ever about "Public Safety." It was always about control of the population and disarming the population, and the NY Democrats hatred of the 2nd Amendment to the Constitution.

Leftist Teacher - "Anyone who disagrees with me is a Nazi"

Name calling is always what they do, when they don't have a rebuttal to an argument or an answer to a question that doesn't make them look like an idiot. U. Pennsylvania teaching assistant uses racist class discussion technique, calls her critics ‘Nazis’

Here is her position on classroom participation, as summed up but The College Fix.

If you’re a white guy in Stephanie McKellop’s class who’s really into the subject at hand, based on her own words you’re essentially out of luck if you want to join in on a discussion. I mean, if she has to call on you she will, but if anyone else on the racial spectrum has his/her hand up … oh well!

Even though you’re left out, at least you can take solace knowing your exclusion is all in the name of … inclusion.

So she freely admits to making decision and basing actions on the color of a student's skin, and then her defenders claim she is not racist, and she did call her detractors Nazis.

Only in academia.

She's not the only professor using this "technique" for suppressing whites in classroom discussion.

But then schools are instituting segregation all over the place. Separate proms at the HS level. Separate dorms and buildings on college campuses. Only today, instead of being something the Left fights against, is something that the Left is completely in favor of.

The future is stupid.

80% of Murder Victims in “Killadelphia” Are Black

So of course being tough-on-crime, or wanting the Justice System to be tough on crime, means you must be racist. SOROS-FUNDED PHILLY D.A. BLAMES G.O.P. ‘RACISM’ FOR IMPEACHMENT

There were an all-time record 562 murders in Philadelphia last year, which means that roughly 450 black people were killed, but according to Krasner, the Republicans who want to end the city’s bloodbath are “racist.”

There is more, and it is definitely worth your time.

There are accolades to a loan voice in the wilderness, because while the national media has tried to ignore the bloodbath that is Philadelphia, one journalist, Dana Pico has not ignored the truth.

There are more dangerous cities in America — St. Louis, for example — but none of them are as big as Philadelphia, America’s fourth-largest city, so that when the homicide rate goes up there (and it’s increased 78% since Krasner took office), it’s kind of difficult to ignore the death toll. Of course, the national media have tried to ignore the violence in “Killadelphia,” but Dana kept hammering away and now the floodgates have opened, so that Krasner felt compelled to hold a press conference

Click thru for some details on the people let out of prison - due to social justice - who went on to commit more crime, including murder.

And so maybe the insanity that has seen crime skyrocket in the Blue Cities is finally at an end. Maybe we are at the beginning of the end. Not holding my breath for either possibility to come true.

The Only Security They Have Is What They Provide Themselves

Leftists getting mugged by reality is not as entertaining as you might think. San Franciscans arm themselves to walk to work past drug clinics | The Post Millennial

In their on-going efforts to help the poor, homeless drug-addicts, the city of San Francisco is screwing over everyone else.

In June, the SOMA RISE Center, [run by HealthRight 360,] a drug sobering facility, opened in northeast San Francisco and attracted dangerous drug-addicted vagabonds to the area, causing residents of the once peaceful neighborhood to walk with weapons such as baseball bats and tasers for self defense.

Now I am usually armed for my own self-defense, so I see nothing wrong with that. (When seconds count, police are only minutes away.) What I find amusing is that Leftists who for generations looked down their noses at anyone who brought up self-defense, are suddenly confronted by the reality that the System cannot protect you. They are suddenly looking for options to defend themselves.

And in this case, I would say, that "The System" in the form of San Francisco city hall, is actively making their lives more dangerous.

The "sobering center" is a safe place for drug-addicts to come down off a high. Couple that with San Francisco's "it's perfectly OK to do drugs in public" attitude, and you have people getting high, all over the neighborhood. Sometimes they go to the sobering center. Sometimes they pass out on the sidewalk.

Bill, another local, said that since the location opened "'Every morning it's a roulette. When you show up at your office, are there going to be 10 people passed out in front of your building? Are they going to be violent? This was never a problem before HealthRight 360 moved in."

One businessman estimates that he has lost $100,000 worth of business because his (former) customers are staying away.

My guess is that some of the people impacted, like that businessman, will abandon the city like so many others are doing. And is it really helping addicts by facilitating their addictions?

For thoughts on the whole way we deal with addicts and the homeless, see Seattle Is Dying from a news organization in Seattle. They have a similar set of problems as those being visited on San Francisco, for the same reason: insane policies of the Left.

Is this situation really what the voters in San Francisco want? Who are the politicians serving? I know homelessness and drug addictions are complex problems, but this policy seems insane.

Is NYC the Rat Capital of America?

They outlawed rat poison recently, so I wouldn't be surprised. Mayor Adams’ NYC anti-rat garbage collection plan flops with building supers: ‘It’s not gonna make a difference’

The city is making a few changes, but I'm surprised that garbage isn't in containers, but just in plastic bags. I suppose that would cause other problems.

Under the new regulations, trash from residential and commercial buildings can’t be placed on curbs for pickup until 8 p.m., pushed back from the current 4 p.m. start time, Adams said in a news conference at City Hall.

In addition, the Sanitation Department will continue collecting 25% of the city’s trash on overnight shifts while most New Yorkers are asleep — all with an aim to shave the number of hours garbage sits on the sidewalks for rats to feast on, Adams said.

There is more insanity on what NYC is doing about rats. It adds up to, "Not much."

Here's a newer article that has some data. NYC plagued with large increase in rat sightings: report

More than 21,500 sightings were reported to the Big Apple's 3-1-1 service request line between Jan. 1 and Sept. 30.

That number has risen by 18,601 rat calls from last year.

More sightings were reported in April of this year than were reported in all of 2021.

And rats are a real problem. (From one year ago.) THEY SAID RAT POISON WAS RACIST. NOW NEW YORKERS ARE DYING OF RAT DISEASES

On Earth Day, New York City’s leftist environmentalists succeeded in pushing through a ban on rat poison. The ban on efforts to fight rat infestations in city parks was championed by The Black Institute, founded by former ACORN boss Bertha Lewis, claiming that rat poison was racist.

Now people are dying.

Over a dozen New Yorkers contracted leptospirosis and are suffering from liver and kidney failure. One of them is already dead. The symptoms of leptospirosis include fever, aches, and jaundice. Even those who survive can end up with brain damage.

That is a fairly common disease in the 3rd World. Now it seems to be taking hold in NYC.
