A Wall Street Journal article that is not behind a paywall? They must think this is important. Why New Orleans Has the Highest Murder Rate in America - WSJ
The murder rate in NOLA during the first half of the year was 41 per 100,000 residents. During the same time, the murder rate in Chicago was 11.5, in Los Angeles it was 4.8, and in NYC it was 2.4 per 100,000.
That is reflected in the 100% increase in shootings over the same period from 2019.
The average 911 response time is 2½ hours. Depending on the call, they may show up tomorrow.
When a witness identified a suspect in an attempted carjacking, cops refused to arrest the person, and told the victim to buy a gun.
There is more, including some politics, and the conditions that rule policing due to a judicial decree. There some blaming of evil guns - it is a media outlet after all.
No mention is made of bail, prosecutions, or anything aside from police. They do mention staffing problems, but imply it is all the PDs fault for not recruiting enough.
