The New York Times on Jordan Salinas

From the Crime Prevention Research Center: New York Times actually runs a positive story about the Citizen who used his gun to stop the mass public shooting at the In-N-Out Burger restaurant in Twin Falls, Idaho

Given how incredibly rare it is for the New York Times to give positive news coverage to a civilian who stopped a mass public shooting (and these occur all the time without getting news coverage), you have to give them credit when they do cover such a story.

A pro-gun/pro-gunowner story in the NYT... Surely this is a sign of the End Times. Or something. Maybe Hell has frozen over.

Self-Defense in Georgia

They almost don't cover the legal aspects of the case. I think it is because the Professional Journalist™ class despises the very idea of self-defense. 'It takes kids down the wrong path' | Residents voice fears after deadly self-defense shooting in Warner Robins | 13-WMAZ

The Warner Robins Police Department said an overnight shooting on Ignico Drive that left an 18-year-old dead appeared to be in self-defense.

They don't say why the confrontation happened, but the shooter remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.

Warner Robins, Georgia, is about a 20 mile drive south of Macon, or about a 100 mile drive south of Atlanta.

The article spends quite a bit of space on a line of thinking that basically boils down to "Neighbors were shocked."

The shooting has some longtime residents worried about what they see as a rise in violence.

"Some." Exactly why do the Professional Journalists™ believe that covering the feelings of a few people mean anything in relation to a story like this? "Some People" feel one way. "Some People" feel differently. What does that mean? Why are feelings important?

Families and Activists Don't Like Consequences

And the media mostly goes along for the ride, if it means they get to bash cops. ‘Family Demands Answers’

Reality includes things like Consequences for your actions.

Lets cut straight to the activists:

See, the normal operations of law enforcement are not “justice” if the outcomes aren’t satisfactory to activist types like Bella Chavez

What was that outcome? Bryan Axel Ramirez Gomez was shot and killed by police when he opened fire on them on Sunday, 15 February 2026 in Elkhart, Indiana.

Say hello to Bryan Axel Ramirez Gomez and, while you’re at it, go ahead and say good-bye, because young Mr. Gomez shuffled off this mortal coil in February, after deciding to start a shootout with police in Elkhart, Indiana, which lasted only three seconds.

Elkhart, Indiana, is about 110 mile drive east of Chicago, Illinois, or about 150 mile drive north of Indianapolis, Indiana.

Mr. Gomez was on parole for a crime he had already been convicted of. That didn't stop him from having 1 gun in his hand. A second firearm, with an illegal auto-switch installed was at his feet.

Gomez knew he was in trouble, and the only way he could think to get out of it was to kill both cops.

Read the whole thing. The details are interesting, and I have not included all of the interesting bits.

Could It Be That Media is Biased Against Cops?

I would be shocked to find a regular media outlet NOT biased against cops. Bodycam appears to contradict details in man's story about teen trend arrest - CWB Chicago

Are we shocked that body cam video does not support the story of the guy who was arrested? Are we shocked that Fox Chicago accepted his version of events as "truth" without bothering to check the body cam video?

Police body camera footage appears to contradict parts of a television news report in which a Chicago man claimed CPD officers beat and wrongly arrested him while he was trying to rescue his younger brother from a Fourth of July “teen takeover.”

Quotangelo Temple, 19, was featured by Fox Chicago four days after his arrest in the 1200 block of South Fairfield Avenue.

Hat tip to Second City Cop: Body Cam Proves Lies....Again.

A criminal making false statements against the police? The "media" reporting these lies as fact?

CWB Chicago is a small media organization that covers crime in Chicago. It started by covering 2 sections of one of Chicago's neighborhoods, but now covers the entire city.  (The 2 sections of Lakeview East were Wrigleyville, and Boystown.)

That CWB Chicago is doing a much better job of actual journalism than the legacy media in Chicago can be bothered to do, is a shameful reflection on the Professional Journalists (so called) at those legacy media outlets.

Journalists Or Chinese Apologists?

Natalie Winters brings us a not-to-surprising story of "Professional Journalists." REVEALED: Here Are the Mainstream Journalists on China’s Payroll

I was going to call them agents, and maybe they are, but let's start with "apologists."

Foreign-agent filings reveal that operatives working for a Chinese Communist Party-linked influence organization planned free trips for American journalists based on the potential for “favorable coverage” and sought to “effectively disseminate positive messages” about Beijing.

But the filings did not plainly identify the reporters who received the access.

By cross-referencing the filings with archived newsletters, annual reports and contemporaneous accounts, this investigation has uncovered the names of prominent American journalists who participated in China trips organized or funded by the China-United States Exchange Foundation, or CUSEF.

Trips to China in exchange for favorable treatment of China in the press. Allegedly, anyway.

That is what passes for "Professional Journalistic Ethics." Some would call that quid pro quo.

Hat tip to The Twitchy Team, who called it exactly that.

In a breaking thread that is going viral on X today, White House Correspondent for the Bannon War Room, Natalie Winters, has just exposed a GIGANTIC list of 'journalists' who were treated to CCP-funded trips to China—and more—allegedly in exchange for favorable coverage of the country. The quid pro quo reportedly goes back as far as 2009.

Here is the original post from X.

Feds Use Fines to Convince Immigrants to Self-Deport

The New York Times most impacted. Trump Administration Pressures Some Immigrants to Self-Deport With Fines Up to $1.8 Million - The New York Times

The Trump administration is aggressively deploying a potent tool to pressure undocumented immigrants into self-deporting — civil fines that can total as much as $1.8 million.

More than 100,000 people have received letters from the Homeland Security Department informing them that they owe $998 for each day that they have stayed in the United States after an immigration judge has ruled they have no legal right to remain in the country.

The 1.8 million number is the $998 times 5 years, which is the time limit of the fine.

Some people are leaving.

Hat tip to William Teach at Pirate's Cove. Oh Noes: Illegal Aliens Can Either Pay Massive Fines Or Self Deport

OK, so, let’s say I built a life hiding on the property of a NY Times bigwig, and eventually get caught: are they going to let me stay on their land? Let’s say I build a cabin in the middle of a national forest, will they let me stay? Of course not. Will the Elites let me squat and build a life at their McMansions by the sea? Nope.

Many people have “built lives” after committing crimes, and, the cops and legal system do not allow them to go back to those lives when they are caught. The best thing for these illegals to do is simply leave.

Chicago Police Brass and Media Wouldn't Lie About Crime

Or would they? Jack Lucey at Chicago Contrarian brings us a story of lies. Chicago Police Brass, Media Present an Inaccurate View of Crime Statistics

Early on the morning after Memorial Day, Chicago Police officials announced there were no homicides over the just-concluded holiday weekend. The local media, operating with the lack of morals and dishonesty of a sleazy PR phony, with Mayor Brandon Johnson cheering them on, immediately parroted the news.

Except there was a homicide. At least one. On Memorial Day morning, a 47-year-old man was stabbed to death in Greater Grand Crossing on the South Side. Chicago Police officers were on the scene that day — and the victim was immediately declared dead.

CPD brass very likely knew about the stabbing death. But they wanted to rush the news out -- perhaps at the urging of Johnson — so the “no homicides” headline would dominate the post-holiday news cycle.

San Diego Shooters Seem Confused

The Other McCain asks a question. Why Would Two Jew-Hating Teenage Incels Shoot Up a Mosque in San Diego?

If what you’re looking for is logic and rationality, homicidal adolescents probably aren’t the first place you’d look.

The media, predictably is not interested in this story.

It has been noticed, by the way, that once the identity of the San Diego killers was determined, their background examined, and the contents of their “manifesto” widely available for scrutiny, the mainstream media lost interest in this story. The 24/7 coverage on CNN ended abruptly, without explanation. A full understanding of the factors involved simply doesn’t fit the preferred narrative.

Then there is the schools' role in radicalizing kids.

Beyond that, however, is the possibility that mandatory “ethnic studies” courses in high school may have played a role in radicalizing these weirdos. Last year, San Diego journalist Amy Reichert interviewed Cain Clark’s mother who “said her son was mandated to take an Ethnic Studies class to graduate from [high school]”:

That "ethics course" focused on "Whiteness," and Cain's mother worried that the course was actually teaching hate against his white family. (Cain was multiracial.)

Click thru for the rest. The details on the crime, the ethics course, the short-staffing of the cops, and how that played into the crime, etc.

Is the Media Lying About ICE?

The media wouldn't lie to us, would they? So, I was finally asked about ICE - by Miguel Gonzalez

During my doings at work, a female client noticed my accent, asked where I was born and after that she asked if I was not scared about ICE. She seemed genuinely surprised when I replied that I was not.

Click thru for the details. Like people interfering with ICE, people violating the terms of their visas, and more.

From her reactions, she was not a hard-core Liberal but probably one that call herself one and trusts what the Old Media says because that was what she was told to do.

Lies of omission are still lies.

The Media Runs Cover for Democratic Activist

The Other McCain has the details: ‘Independent Journalist,’ My Ass!

This story is just wild beyond words, but what infuriated me was the reference to “independent journalist Christopher Hale,” when anyone could have done a Google search and learned what I have told you about Hale, that he is a Democratic Party operative, with a shady reputation and no credentials whatsoever as a “journalist.” Furthermore — and I should hope my Catholic friends see this as I do — what are we to make of the fact that George Soros has expended vast amounts of money to influence (or perhaps a better verb is subvert) the Catholic Church?

Click thru for more details, and the insanity.

Professional Journalism at the NY Times and CNN

Or maybe not. The Left and the Media, but I repeat myself, love to tell us how accurate the legacy media are. They should be trusted; others should be censored. The legacy media have layers of editorial oversight, they are known for non-biased application of standards, and other stuff. In a pig's eye. Red State brings us all the details.

Last Friday, the "professional journalists" at the NY Times demonstrated their complete lack up understanding of anything to do with geopolitics. Gray Lady Faceplant: NY Times Apparently Doesn't Even Know What NATO Is in Pathetic Gaslighting Effort

The NY Times identified NATO as the North American Treaty Organization. It would be laughable it they weren't trying to lecture all of us about geopolitics and our roll in NATO.

NATO, of course, does not include the word “America” — it’s the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, and it was created in 1947 with Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Iceland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, the United Kingdom, and the United States being the founding members.

OK. So they hired a bunch of brain-dead theater kids, who weren't good enough to actually land on Broadway, and decided to go to journalism school, because the math requirements were nil. A simple web search for "NATO" would have turned up the correct info. (It is literally in the 1st line in the Wikipedia article.) But journalists are nothing if not sure of themselves.

“Fact checks? We ain’t got no Fact checks! We don’t need no Fact checks! I don’t have to show you any stinking Fact checks!” (With apologies to The Treasure of the Sierra Madre)

If you can't get the simple facts right, why should I trust you about complex issues? If you are completely unaware of what NATO is, and you would need to be mostly clueless for this error, why should I listen to you when, through your editorial board, you try to tell me what to think about the issues of the day?

So after they made this error they tried to downplay it as simply a typo. It wasn't a simple typo. After That Embarrassing NY Times ‘NATO’ Headline the Press Opposes Applying Their Own Standards

After the typo thing didn't fly they kept at it. It wasn't that big a deal. Or something.

Anytime right-of-center news outlets have an error of this fashion, they become excoriated by those in the press gaggle. Accusations of a lack of editorial oversight and lax journalism are made, while at the same time touting their own fact-checking filters. At the Times, they have long established their own deeply strenuous editing process, declaring how this elevates their quality above all others.

They even explain those layers of oversight.

Somehow, when the most vaunted of news sources screws up to a level well beyond the errors leading to others getting scorched, it is excused away. And this headline debacle was hardly an isolated instance from the Times. Just a week prior, the paper had to issue multiple corrections in its report on recent proposals made by Undersecretary of State Jacon Helberg.

If it weren't for double standards, they'd have no standards at all.

Not to be out done by the NY Times, CNN, “The Most Trusted Name in News,” decided to do a similar face plant. Journalism Fail 101: Major Outlet Reports on Hollywood Star's Death, His Response Is Golden

Now CNN, which still occasionally uses its tagline, “The Most Trusted Name in News,” got in on the game Wednesday with its fond remembrance of the star of the Hollywood blockbuster Back to the Future movies. “Remembering the life of actor Michael J. Fox,” they played across the screen.

One wee bit of a problem here, though.

Michael J. Fox is very much alive.

Fox got into the fray by complaining to Variety. Michael J. Fox Speaks Out After CNN Sparks Death Scare: ‘How Do You React When You Turn on the TV and CNN Is Reporting Your Death?’

“How do you react when you turn on the TV and CNN is reporting your death?” Fox asked his followers. “Do you…A) switch to MNSBC, or whatever they are calling themselves these days, (B) Pour scolding hot water on your lap, if it hurts your fine, (C) Call your wife, hopefully she’s concerned but reassuring, (D) Relax, they do this once every year, (E) Ask yourself wtf ? I thought the world was ending, but apparently it’s just me and I’m ok. Love, Mike.”

Media. You only think you hate them enough.

No Respect for Former FBI Chief Robert Mueller

The Democrats will hate this. Scandal-Plagued Former FBI Chief Robert Mueller Dies in Disgrace at Age 81 : The Other McCain

De mortuis nil nisi bonum is always wise policy, which Democrats never follow whenever one of their enemies die. Democrats hate without apology, but become indignant if Republicans return the favor.

This headline is modeled on the headline that Variety used to announce the passing of Chuck Norris. Which they have not taken down. (See below) Norris was a lifelong Democrat, until that party was pushed so far to the Left that he believed he had been left behind, and finally called himself a Republican. Which is apparently an unforgivable sin to the Left and the media, but I repeat myself.

Readers might notice that the headline of this obituary is perhaps not a model of journalistic objectivity, but that’s the whole point. You see, I spent a decade at the Washington Times, which gave me a chance to study how our liberal competitor, the Washington Post, always slanted everything, including obituaries. Liberal journalists find ways to sneak in tendentious words and phrases like controversial and scandal-plagued when writing about their chosen enemies, and I think this is as good an occasion as any to repay the favor in the case of Bob Mueller.

Here is that headline on Chuck Norris, as posted to X.

Terror, Media Bias, and More

THE FIRST STREET JOURNAL asks a question about terrorists. Why are so many violent haters of Western civilization themselves children of wealth and privilege?

The Philadelphia Inquirer published photos of the homes of the two Bucks County, Pennsylvania, ‘men’ charged with throwing homemade bombs at a protest outside of Gracie Mansion, the mayor’s official residence, in New York City.

One had an estimated value of $2,238,200. They other home had an estimated value of $668,000.

Now, unless you've been living under a rock, you probably saw how CNN treated the attempted bombing in New York.

That isn't the end of it, of course.

The two were taking exception to a protest organized by (as The Philadelphia Inquirer called him) "far-right provocateur Jake Lang."

Did you catch that? The headline itself states that Messrs Balat and Kayumi were “inspired by ISIS,” but it is Jake long who is described as a “far-right provocateur.” Provocateur is defined as someone who provokes other people to take rash actions or break the law. Reporters Jesse Bunch, Ellie Rushing, and Maggie Prosser have, by the use of that description, placed blame on Jake Long for the crimes of the actual (alleged) criminals.

The Media Is Still Shocked that Gays Own Guns

Because the Left and the Media (but I repeat myself) holds on to a lot of stereotypes about gun owners. LGBTQ Floridians seek gun safety training amid rising tensions - Watermark Out News

This article sounds a bit like an extended advertisement for a group called Equality in Arms, which is an organization out of Orlando that focuses on training people new to the idea of owning and carrying guns.

“When you’re carrying a firearm, you’re carrying a huge responsibility,” [Christopher] Fernandez [owner and lead instructor of EIA] says. “You almost literally have the power of life and death in your hands. I teach people how to walk through the world being a good, sane, thoughtful, principled person who happens to carry a firearm. That’s a huge focus of my concealed carry class.”

They do get to Pink Pistols, and a few other organizations, toward the end of the article. Pink Pistols was formed in 2000, but the media hasn't gotten that message. For a mostly complete list of organizations of minority gun owners, see Implications for Understanding Gun Owner Diversity Today. That is a section of a post from Professor David Yamane.

It is a left-wing publication, so they have to have a few paragraphs about ICE, because Journalism.

The BBC Lied About Pete Hegseth Speech

I'm shocked that the BBC would lie about anything. OK, so I'm not shocked. From The Telegraph: BBC altered Pete Hegseth speech on Iran war

The BBC mistakenly altered a speech by Pete Hegseth on the war in Iran, making him appear to say the United States was targeting the Iranian “people”.

BBC Persian, which broadcasts to audiences inside Iran, mistranslated remarks by the US secretary of defence, telling viewers Washington was bringing death to the Iranian “people”.

What Hegseth actually said was that the US is targeting the regime, and NOT the people.

Even The Telegraph seems reluctant to claim the BBC is biased.

The mistake was seized upon by pro-Israel media campaigners, who claimed that it cast doubt on the BBC’s impartiality. It also triggered a backlash on social media.

Some (probably desipised) group thinks this shows the BBC is biased. Now maybe there is some part of British law that would open The Telegraph to a defamation suit. My opinions are protected by the 1st amendment, and I believe that the BBC is a group of lying bastards that are deep in the throws of Trump Derangement Syndrome.

It is "claimed" to be a part of long-standing bias in covering the Mideast.

In January, the BBC was embroiled in a row with the Israeli embassy after the broadcaster was accused of obsessing over Gaza while “largely ignoring” the protests in Tehran.

Gee, the BBC wouldn't be antisemitic, now, would it?

That is on top of the suit by Trump against the BBC for lying about stuff during the election.

Trump Called Cops on Epstein

This will hurt the narrative. Trump Called Cops On Epstein In 2006

Seems there is a record/transcript/summary of call between Donald Trump to the Palm Beach police chief in 2006 about Epstein's criminal activities. Click thru for those details.

I’m sure there are lots and lots of big wigs who were involved with Epstein, as he had his hands in a lot of pies, but, were not involved with all the child trafficking and other criminal stuff. Some who possibly had no idea what was going on. And some who realized that something shady was going on. Like, apparently, Donald Trump. And, really, at this point, there’s nothing to tie Trump to the shady, criminal stuff. If there were it would have been released during the latter Obama or Biden days.

There is more. The UK Prime Minister's entanglement is interesting.

Do You Remember? I Remember

Arielle Scarcella has an interesting, but short (About 1 minute) video asking if you remember some of the things they told you before the election of 2024. What Happened To Trump’s Gay Conversion Camps? Well, Arielle and friends.

Remember when they told us the gays would be in conversion-therapy camps as soon as Trump got elected?

Other things they told us

  • Joe Biden was coherent
  • Kamala was best for the job because of skin color
  • Hunter Biden's laptop was Russian disinformation
  • Inflation was a "good thing"
  • Social Media was absolutely NOT censoring conservatives

There is more in the video, and I bet you can remember even more examples.

Just make sure you never forget.

This is "I Remember" by Deadmau5 and Kaskade. Just because... well the video is probably appropriate for the Snowmageddon that the weather people are screaming about.

US Has Negative Migration in 2025

US, for 1st time in 50 years, experienced negative net migration in 2025: Report - ABC News

The U.S. experienced negative net migration in 2025 for the first time in at least half a century as a result of the Trump administration's immigration crackdown, according to a report released Tuesday by the Brookings Institution.

The range is quite large, somewhere between -295,000 and -10,000. This leads me to believe that their statistics are not very good, since they can't nail it down to within an order of magnitude.

They go on to claim that ICE and Border and Customs Protection haven't deported as many people as they claim, and the slowdown in arrivals is really because the economy under the Republican administration is bad, or something

Hat tip to William Teach at Pirate's Cove. Good News: America Has Negative Migration For 1st Time In 50 Years

I was told by Democrats, their pet media, and Never Trumpers that the only way to accomplish anything close to this was passing a bunch of laws that would really mean legal status for millions of illegals/migrants/fake asylum seekers with a wink wink promise of securing the borders

Though the link to ABC News was broken when I first looked.
