Professional Journalism at the NY Times and CNN

Or maybe not. The Left and the Media, but I repeat myself, love to tell us how accurate the legacy media are. They should be trusted; others should be censored. The legacy media have layers of editorial oversight, they are known for non-biased application of standards, and other stuff. In a pig's eye. Red State brings us all the details.

Last Friday, the "professional journalists" at the NY Times demonstrated their complete lack up understanding of anything to do with geopolitics. Gray Lady Faceplant: NY Times Apparently Doesn't Even Know What NATO Is in Pathetic Gaslighting Effort

The NY Times identified NATO as the North American Treaty Organization. It would be laughable it they weren't trying to lecture all of us about geopolitics and our roll in NATO.

NATO, of course, does not include the word “America” — it’s the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, and it was created in 1947 with Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Iceland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, the United Kingdom, and the United States being the founding members.

OK. So they hired a bunch of brain-dead theater kids, who weren't good enough to actually land on Broadway, and decided to go to journalism school, because the math requirements were nil. A simple web search for "NATO" would have turned up the correct info. (It is literally in the 1st line in the Wikipedia article.) But journalists are nothing if not sure of themselves.

If you can't get the simple facts right, why should I trust you about complex issues? If you are completely unaware of what NATO is, and you would need to be mostly clueless for this error, why should I listen to you when, through your editorial board, you try to tell me what to think about the issues of the day?

After the typo thing didn't fly they kept at it. It wasn't that big a deal. Or something.

Anytime right-of-center news outlets have an error of this fashion, they become excoriated by those in the press gaggle. Accusations of a lack of editorial oversight and lax journalism are made, while at the same time touting their own fact-checking filters. At the Times, they have long established their own deeply strenuous editing process, declaring how this elevates their quality above all others.

They even explain those layers of oversight.

Somehow, when the most vaunted of news sources screws up to a level well beyond the errors leading to others getting scorched, it is excused away. And this headline debacle was hardly an isolated instance from the Times. Just a week prior, the paper had to issue multiple corrections in its report on recent proposals made by Undersecretary of State Jacon Helberg.

If it weren't for double standards, they'd have no standards at all.

Now CNN, which still occasionally uses its tagline, “The Most Trusted Name in News,” got in on the game Wednesday with its fond remembrance of the star of the Hollywood blockbuster Back to the Future movies. “Remembering the life of actor Michael J. Fox,” they played across the screen.

One wee bit of a problem here, though.

Michael J. Fox is very much alive.

I thought the world was ending, but apparently it’s just me and I’m ok. Love, Mike.”

CNN Guilty of Defaming Navy Veteran

Actually the number stated here is low, because the jury were discussing punitive damages when CNN reached a settlement with the plaintiff. CNN ordered to pay $5M for defaming Navy veteran after Biden's disastrous Afghanistan pullout

A Florida jury on Friday found CNN liable for defaming a Navy veteran who helped evacuate people from Afghanistan following President Biden’s disastrous exit from the country.

So while the jury was debating punitive damages, in addition to the $5 million in actual damages, CNN and Zachary Young reached a settlement.

Louis G. Adolfsen, a defamation lawyer and founding member of the Melito & Adolfsen PC law firm in Manhattan, speculated that the settlement could be for as high as $25 million considering Panama City is a “rural or semi-rural” area where the jury pool is likely hostile to CNN.

CNN (I watch, so you don’t have to) is still hyping polls that show Kamala Harris leading Donald Trump on the eve of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago and, if all you knew about the election is what you get from the “mainstream” media, you would believe she’s cruising to certain victory.

He goes on to cite a story talking about the "joy" of Democrats in Chicago. The Democrats may be happy, but the businesses in the city have been boarding up for more than a week getting ready for the "protests." They're not riots, oh no, don't call them riots. They are "mostly peaceful" arson fests. Or something.

CNN Still Covering for the Biden Crime Family

The big news Wednesday was that the House Oversight Committee “has tracked $20 million in payments to Biden Inc.”

CNN, being a mouthpiece for the Democratic Party, didn't see that as a newsworthy story. They are worried about something else.

This is what professional journalists would call Pretty Goddamned Big News — a smoking gun found next to a bloody corpse — and yet CNN is ignoring it in favor of a wall-to-wall coverage of the “apocalyptic” wildfire in Maui: “Climate change among reasons Hawaii fire could have spread so quickly, scientist says.”

The situation in Hawaii is worth covering, but not at the expense of spending SOME time on the crimes being uncovered in Washington DC. Unless you just admit that you are a propaganda organization and not a news organization.

Exactly why CNN decided to give Trump this fat slice of prime-time programming, I can’t say. At the onset of the Covid pandemic, the Trump administration said that the virus likely originated from a Wuhan lab leak, a theory that has gained credibility in recent months, but in 2020 disgraced former CNN boss Jeff Zucker said his network should not investigate the theory because it was a "Trump talking point."

Truth? Zucker didn't care about the Truth. He wanted HIS SIDE to win. At all costs. Even if it meant putting an incompetent old man in the White House. Lie. Cheat. Steal. That should have been the motto of CNN. Oh, and sexual bad stuff too, beacuse there was apparently some of that going on as well.

Licht said in June that he wanted to reduce the partisan nature of some of the network's programming and on-air personalities.

I don't watch CNN, so I have no idea if Licht has managed to return journalism to that organization, and frankly I don't care. I can't imagine CNN reporting on a story in a way that would rekindle my trust in their professionalism. They are partisan hacks of the highest order.

This time, they went after a doctor who is one of the "12 People" a radical left-wing activist group claims is responsible for all the medical misinformation on Facebook.

Of course they offer no examples, you are just supposed to accept what they say because they are professional journalists.

But then they proved what that meant during the Cuomo Brothers' Comedy Hour. 'We Wonder Why People Hate the Media': Meghan McCain Destroys 'Cowards' at CNN.

Everything you need to know about CNN's journalistic standards can be seen during the Chris and Andy Comedy Hour. CNN's Chris Cuomo yucking it up with brother Gov. Andrew Cuomo. At least, until news broke of all the elderly blood Andrew has on his hands. Then came Andy's sexual harassment allegations that the CNN "journalist" help him respond to. You and I can see the red flags popping up everywhere. But both Chris and Andy are Democrats, so CNN doesn't care.

CNN's brand of journalism is hard to tell from Democratic Party propaganda.

Once Biden was inaugurated, the network lost its raison d’être of producing anti-Trump propaganda. Ratings for CNN have evaporated since January and, unable to excite their audience with live performances of journalistic fellatio on Biden (metaphorically speaking), they devote hours every day to critiquing whatever is on Fox News.

This is completely surreal given the meltdown by CNN and its fellows among the Democrat activist media over the events at the Capitol. Where’s the National Guard to protect businesses and lives destroyed (and ended) by these black bloc groups who are, according to their own speeches, chants, signs, and graffiti, literally trying to destroy the U.S. through violent revolution.
