The Democrats Have a Problem with Normal

Is anyone shocked at this point? Why Can't You Be Normal?! The Dems Are Nominating Total Freaks for Office.

n Maine, Nazi Graham Platner was booted after a rape allegation was lobbed against him. He was replaced by Troy Jackson, a Democrat with reported anger issues and someone who married his second cousin. Is it illegal or election-killing? No, but it does feed into the disturbing trend among Democrats: they can’t find normal people to run for office.

Click thru for a list.

You used to expect this from places like San Francisco. I'm old enough to remember when Sister Mary Boom Boom, Nun of the Above, ran for office in that city, and almost won. (People do want to vote for none of the above.) But I never expected this kind of insanity from Maine, or the rest of the items on the list.

Satanist weddings, beheading chickens, fake weddings, passing bills that protect child sex predators, hanging out with terrorists, hiring pedophiles—what is going on with the Democratic Party?

I miss Western Civilization. (Hat tip to MaddMedic)

Chicago's Mayor Has Everyone Up In Arms

George Shay of Chicago Contrarian has the details. The Red Dawn of Realism: Why Brandon Johnson’s Base Is Fleeing Chicago's Progressive Circus

While I don't think Chicago is going to flip Red, I do think the Machine is seriously broken.

The 911 system is broken, not because of the 911 Center, or the operators, or dispatch, but because there are not enough police to maintain law and order. They can't investigate crimes, let alone respond to a crisis. (Click thru for those details. Call 911, and there is no patrol unit available to respond.)

By allowing our police districts to consistently fall into RAP [Radio Assignment Pending] status, the current administration has achieved something historic. They have bridged the traditional divides of Chicago geography. The South Side mother tired of local community centers being converted into unvetted migrant shelters now shares the exact same grievance as the Lincoln Park resident watching businesses shut down due to unchecked violence. They are both looking at a government that takes more and more of their money and, with property and other taxes, gives them more and more lawlessness in return.

As for the breakdown in the system:

The breakdown in the 18th District is a direct symptom of prioritizing political theater over core municipal functions. When an affluent North Side neighborhood experiences a two-hour window where zero police units are available to respond to an active, 50-person brawl, the social contract is completely broken.

It used to be a wonderful city. I went to college there. I worked there for a number of years. I spent Saturday afternoons in the art museums, and Saturday nights in the clubs. Now you couldn't pay me to set foot in the city, or at least not in any of the places I used to frequent.

The Other McCain on Tucker C.

From The Other McCain: My Own Tucker Carlson Theory

Raise your hand if you have a beef with the Republican Party establishment. Everybody’s hand is up, am I correct? Now, keep your hand up if you feel that the Official Conservative Movement is often ineffective and sometimes not really conservative at all. Pretty much everyone still has their hand up, I believe. It is fair to say that, the more conservative you are, the more discontented you are with the institutions and “leaders” who are supposed to represent your point of view.

At the same time, however, what are you going to do? We try as much as we can to steer things in the right direction, and occasionally express our outrage at the ballot box — hat-tip to those Texans who finally dumped John Cornyn — but we know that it’s bad tactics to form circular firing squads. Keep your fire aimed downrange is always good advice in politics, and there are always plenty of liberals targets to aim at.

Click thru for the whole thing.

Personally I have been mad at the Republicans in Congress for a very long time. At least since GWB was in office, and probably longer than that.

That said, I find the insanity on the right more of a distraction, than anything of interest.

There Are Forces Working to Destroy Western Civilization

The Other McCain has a story about the forces arrayed to destroy western civilizaton. Communism, the Palestinian Death Cult and the Pro-Terrorism Red-Green Axis

The Soviet policy of fomenting rebellion. The Red-Green alliance of the radical Left and hard-line Islamists. More.

There is a reason why you rarely see me jumping into these arguments to denounce people by name. Sam Francis got purged from the Official Conservative Movement™ as a result of foreign-policy quarrels in the 1990s, and the only reason we are where we are now — i.e., with the populist grassroots energy of MAGA now the dominant force in Republican politics — is because some of us were wise enough to keep our powder dry, to be discreet in our communications, and to maintain our focus on truly important issues.

Click thru for more details. It is an interesting story. I'll leave you with this.

Just because the Soviet Union collapsed did not mean that Communism was no longer a threat.

Graham 'Totenkopf' Platner Ends Campaign

The Maine Democrat, with the now-covered, SS tattoo, has terminated his campaign. Springtime for Platner ends - Don Surber

His tattoo from 1930s Germany didn't disqualify him in the eyes of Democrats. The early report of a sexual harassment didn't disqualify him in the eyes of Democrats. But they are abandoning him now.

Also on Monday, Senator Angela Alsobrooks of Maryland said, “I don’t know [Graham Platner] but I’m supporting Democrats. We need Democrats in office. We need Democrats in office to fight back against Donald Trump.”

What a refreshingly honest answer about Democrat ethics. They have none. It is all about power.

As for the tattoo: Totenkopf is a compound German word meaning "Death's Head." The particular tattoo that Platner was sporting is, if I'm reading it correctly, the 3rd SS Panzer Division Totenkopf, which was used between 1939 and 1945 in the the Waffen-SS. If you don't know what that means, you should study more about World War II.

Nothing clarifies one’s position on genocide quite like a Nazi tattoo.

Anyway, he started falling in the polls. There is apparently (I really don't care that much about Maine politics - I may have it wrong) more than one allegation of inappropriate and/or illegal activity. I can't tell you which, as I don't really care. It was interesting to me that the Democrats were willing to overlook a tie to the Waffen-SS. The party of tolerance, and inclusion willing to overlook a symbol of the Schutzstaffel, or the SS.

The SS as a whole was declared a criminal organization by the Allied Tribunal in Nuremberg in 1946. [Ref. Britannica]

But then the Democrats as a whole seem, to me anyway, to be completely at ease with antisemitism these days. (Hat tip to Wombat-socho: In The Mailbox: 07.08.26 (Afternoon Edition)

TDS in the Military

From The Hill: Air Force major arrested after calling for Trump impeachment outside Capitol

An Air Force major was arrested on the steps of the Capitol on Wednesday after calling for President Trump’s and Vice President Vance’s impeachments.

Peaceful demonstrations are permitted on Capitol grounds, but a protester must remain alongside a member of Congress to speak openly from the steps.

He was asked to leave the steps. He did not leave.

The Air Force major could be court-martialed or face disciplinary measures under the Uniform Code of Military Justice.

See the embedded X/Twitter post below for the reason.

Hat tip to William Teach at Pirate's Cove: Air Force Dipshit Calls For Trump Impeachment, Gets Arrested

You know the Democrats put him up to this, probably using his TDS to get him to do something monumentally stupid

I'm no lawyer, but this sounds reasonable.

Another tweet indicate that he will lose pension, VA benefits, educational benefits, everything.

June in the Windy City

Chicago Flag

HeyJackass! brings us the June Wrap-up

To understand the following statement, you would need to know that Mayor Brandon Johnson claimed a couple of things. One is that there is epidemic of violence against transwomen of color. Which may or may not be true, but that isn't really going to move the statistics much in either direction.

Despite the 🚨Transfemicide State of Emergency🚨, The Summer of Silly Decisions got off to nearly the same start as last year.

June 2026: 43 killed, 157 wounded
June 2025: 42 killed, 140 wounded
June 2024: 74 killed, 323 wounded

So it is more than last year, and less than 2024. Actually it is much less than 2020 or 2021. Does that mean that crime is down, or is it up?

Aside from the statment about transwomen of color, Johnson has claimed that this entire wave of death and violence is all Nixon's fault. Richard Nixon. This isn't the first time Brandon Johnson has brought up Nixon. He won't let it go. (It used to be a wonderful city.)

Chicago Police Brass and Media Wouldn't Lie About Crime

Or would they? Jack Lucey at Chicago Contrarian brings us a story of lies. Chicago Police Brass, Media Present an Inaccurate View of Crime Statistics

Early on the morning after Memorial Day, Chicago Police officials announced there were no homicides over the just-concluded holiday weekend. The local media, operating with the lack of morals and dishonesty of a sleazy PR phony, with Mayor Brandon Johnson cheering them on, immediately parroted the news.

Except there was a homicide. At least one. On Memorial Day morning, a 47-year-old man was stabbed to death in Greater Grand Crossing on the South Side. Chicago Police officers were on the scene that day — and the victim was immediately declared dead.

CPD brass very likely knew about the stabbing death. But they wanted to rush the news out -- perhaps at the urging of Johnson — so the “no homicides” headline would dominate the post-holiday news cycle.

“TRUMP! TRUMP! TRUMP!” The deranged obsession so warps David Klion’s perception that, when challenged on his over-the-top rhetoric, his response is to post a syllogism, the first premise of which is, “Republicans are evil,” and believes that he has thereby vanquished his critics.

NC Violated Law by Letting Nonresidents to Vote in Federal Elections

From Just The News: NC court rules state violated law by allowing nonresidents to vote in federal elections

The Wake County Superior Court sided with the RNC in the ruling Tuesday after the North Carolina Supreme Court ruled last year that people who have never lived in the state cannot vote in state elections.

The state stopped nonresidents from voting in state elections in the wake of the state Supreme Court ruling, but did not change its policies when it came to federal elections.

This is insane, but that is the way Democrats steal elections.

Hat tip to William Teach at Pirate's Cove.

Kind of wild that a pretty Dem court in Dem controlled Wake County, NC voted this way

And once again the party that claims to be for peace, love, and understanding, (that would be the Democrats) are vile, and wishing ill on people who dare to disagree with them. Trump Derangement Syndrome: Some Historical Perspective on Political Manias : The Other McCain

How can it be that someone working as the assistant vice president of a financial institution could think this way? And believe she could post something like that online without consequences?

The problem is not just that a lot of Democrats are insane — although, of course they are — but that so many people, including Republicans, are incapable of thinking outside of the here-and-now of politics, the 24/7 news cycle reinforced by constant immersion in social media noise.

Texas Politics Is Becoming Insane

Or it is at least starting to be really entertaining. What $100,000,000 Buys : The Other McCain

The RINO class is not happy that Cornyn lost his primary. The Democrats hope that it means they can turn Texas blue.

Do I want to pick a fight with Erick Erickson? No, I do not. Erick has done yeoman’s work for the conservative cause for more than 20 years, and 99 days out of 100, I have no problem with him. But his reaction to Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton’s victory in Tuesday’s GOP primary runoff against John Cornyn is a reminder of something most people never think about — there are professional campaign operatives who earn a lucrative living from politics. Erick Erickson is close friends with a lot of Republican operatives and, it seems obvious to me, some of Erick’s friends were getting paid by Team Cornyn.

The Establishment Republican reaction is entertaining. The Democrats reaction is laughable.

Alabama Sheriff Ousted for NOT Working With ICE

For some reason I haven't seen this in the media. Doesn't mean they haven't covered it. This Alabama sheriff who wouldn't participate in 287(g) to aid immigration enforcement lost reelection after nearly three decades in office | Not the Bee

He was defeated in the Republican primary election after nearly 30 years in office, because he would cooperate with neither Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) nor Customs and Border Protection (CBP).

Cam Hunt launched his campaign against Jones because he was frustrated that the sheriff's office was not participating in the 287(g) which is a voluntary program that allows sheriff's offices to aid in immigration enforcement by holding illegal aliens for ICE and CBP.

Hunt was fired by Jones for launching this campaign, and Tuesday night it was Jones who was fired by the people of Lee County.

Lee County, Alabama. which is home to Auburn University, is a 60 mile, or so, drive east of Montgomery, Alabama.

Even though this is Alabama, the power of the incumbent is strong, despite the power of immigration. The election was 51% to 49% and was separated by only 307 votes.

And yes, you did read that correctly. Jay Jones fired deputy Cameron Hunt for having the nerve to challenge him politically.

NYC Chases Wall Street South

Or I should say Mamdani chases Wall Street firms away from NYC. Mamdani won't be happy until he drives every financial business out of NYC, and he won't be happy then, because he won't have any money for his programs. Wall Street giant Apollo aims to open ‘second headquarters’ outside NYC — in latest fallout from Mamdani’s war on the wealthy

Yet another major Wall Street firm is poised to expand outside New York City – the latest blow to the Big Apple’s tax coffers thanks to Mayor Zohran Mandani’s war on wealthy residents and businesses, The Post has learned.

Private equity giant Apollo Global Management, headquartered in Manhattan, has decided to open a new business hub — internally dubbed its “second headquarters” — in either Florida or Texas with an official decision likely to be made public in the coming weeks, people close to the matter say.

I can't help but think "expand outside NYC" is really "we are moving, but we don't want to say that." They probably also have employees who don't want to leave NYC, though why, given what is going on anyone would want to stay in NYC is beyond me.

Apollo paid a whopping $1.276 billion in income taxes in 2025, up from $1.062 billion the year before. While filings don’t break down how much of that went to the Big Apple, the city stands to lose a hefty revenue stream as the firm looks to expand elsewhere.

I don't understand the Left. They want to provide all kinds of services, except police apparently, but they don't want the businesses that provide the funds for those services. I guess math is hard.

Apollo isn't the only firm looking to ditch NYC. Ken Griffin was singled out by Mamdani, and who did that help? NY leaders desperately try to stop billionaire bigs from fleeing city over Mamdani.

Most are not being that visible about the moves.

The splashy one-two punch of Citadel CEO Ken Griffin and Apollo Global Management honcho Marc Rowan pledging to expand outside New York City has been coupled with a silent wave of businesses “quiet quitting” the city over its hostile environment, insiders told The Post.

Wall Street firms typically don't want the publicity. I think Apollo only spoke out after Mamdani targeted Citadel. But it didn't start with Mamdani. New York (City and State) has impossibly high taxes.

Even before Mamdani, the Empire State has steadily watched its standing as a business haven slip.

New York lost $660 billion in economic growth over the past decade, leading all 50 states, according to economic data from the Committee to Unleash Prosperity.

Red states, particularly Florida and Texas, have started to scoop up disaffected New York residents and businesses.

There is more. Statistics on people leaving NYC. Some info on the business that have left. The effort to get Bloomberg to run for mayor. Again.

The loss of Wall Street business could deal a major blow to New York City’s finances, which are buoyed by taxes on bonuses from the sector.

Math and politics. Probably not a winning combination.

Does a Chicago Politician Breaking the Law Count as News?

Or is it just Tuesday? Chicago Mayor Sidekick Nabbed for Back Taxes After Years of Illegal Tax Breaks | Chicago Contrarian

Another member of Mayor Brandon Johnson's City Hall gang has been forced to pay back taxes after years of being a privileged scofflaw who felt she was above the rules under which the rest of us have to suffer.

The latest to get her tax dodge comeuppance is Mayor Johnson’s city budget director Annette Guzman, who for the last five years had been taking advantage of lower property taxes based on an illegal tax break she had wrangled. Now she is being forced to make up the difference and pay in what she should have been paying all along

The Demand for Racism (on the Left) Versus the Supply

From Justice for Jussie, to the latest financial antics of the Southern Poverty Law Center, there seems to be some manufactured outrage on the Left. This Should Not Need to Be Said : The Other McCain

Because Cutting Taxes Is NOT an Option

Democrats, or socialists/communists, cut taxes to deal with a budget deficit? Not on this planet. Gooder and Harder, NYC: Mamdani's Plan to 'Nickel & Dime' You to Death

It seems so long ago and far away [Steve, it was maybe last month —Editor] that New York City's Democratic Socialist Mayor, Zohran Mamdani, promised residents everything from free bus rides to universal child care to free groceries — because you just know that nobody was going to prosecute shoplifters at Mamdani's crony-run grocery stores.

Now, as the New York Post put it late Tuesday, comes the bill that will "nickel-and-dime New Yorkers with hidden fee hikes" to pay for all the free stuff that Mamdani won't actually, you know, deliver at all.

There is no money for free bus rides, extra health care for kids, or anything else Mamdani promised to get elected.

I'm old enough to remember the old Democratic Party. "Ask not what your country can do for you..." has morphed into "Free Stuff!" (OK, so I don't remember Kennedy. I did learn about him in school.)

The biggest belly laugh was when Mamdani promised $368 million in savings from “improving the efficiency of public services” and another $947 million by merely "improving our financial management, claiming revenue that the city is owed, and accurately estimating expenses."

Oh yeah. That'll work!

How can one city spend so much money, and still not work?

Europe Seems Determined to Kill Its Auto Industry

Politicians demanded electric vehicles. The public said, "No thanks." Manufacturers are caught in the middle. Volkswagen Expects To Pay $1.7 Billion In Emissions Fines

Much like all traditional automakers, the Volkswagen Group is caught between a rock and a hard place. The European Union’s push toward electrification is forcing the German juggernaut to sell more EVs to offset the CO₂ emissions from its combustion-engine vehicles. Otherwise, it risks paying hefty fines for exceeding fleet targets.

The fines are calculated based on the number of vehicles sold (that is called consumer demand) that exceed the arbitrary emissions levels set by politicians pretending to be engineers.

European politicians have not understood that Command Economies NEVER work. Probably some American politicians as well. They also don't like to admit they are NOT engineers.

Automakers are struggling to meet the 2025–2027 fleet emissions targets, and the challenge will only intensify. Even stricter regulations will take effect in 2030, when car companies must cut CO₂ emissions by 55 percent compared to 2021 levels. From 2035, emissions will have to drop by 90 percent versus 2021 levels.

Good luck with that.

The hat tip goes to MGUY Australia and his video EV madness is STRANGLING the European car industry. And you should be watching his videos, they are relatively short. (This one is less than 7 minutes.) He has about 2 new videos per week, depending on what is in the news.

The Other McCain v Communism

I think I know how to answer this question. Do You Hate Communism Enough? : The Other McCain

Is Karen Bass, Mayor of Los Angeles, a Communist? I'm shocked!

Too many of our Republican friends dismiss Bass as a dimwitted clown, dangerous only because of her incompetence. However, Bass has held positions of major influence, and was among the finalists in Biden’s search for a VP pick in 2020. It was when she was under consideration for that choice that her early involvement in the Venceremos Brigade attracted critical scrutiny.

Click thru for more.

The answer to the question in the headline is obviously no — it is impossible that any of us could hate Communism as much as we should. Unless you were a Chilean helicopter pilot back in the day, perhaps, you could almost certainly use a booster shot for your anti-Communism.

Late Stage TDS

The Other McCain brings us a story of politics and insanity. Trump Derangement Syndrome Reaches Terminal Stage as Democrats Seethe

Are you tired of all this winning yet? If you were on X (née Twitter) Friday, you could see Democrats raging vehemently (and ignorantly) against the Virginia Supreme Court decision, which held that last month’s referendum to redraw the Commonwealth’s congressional districts violated the Virginia constitution.

This is, of course, about the recent Virginia State Supreme Court's ruling nulifying the gerrymandering of the state's Congressional districts.

As has been explained, the Virginia state constitution spells out a very specific process by which the constitution can be amended. Just five years ago, the Commonwealth ratified an amendment that set up a non-partisan commission to draw the state’s districts. Last month’s referendum sought to amend that, providing a “temporary” exemption so that the legislature could redraw the map.

So they tried to cheat, and got told no, and like a two-year-old who did not get his way, they are throwing a tantrum.

Go read the whole thing.
