It Has Always Been Sportsball Season

How To Subvert Subversion with Yuri Bezmenov - How To Root for Pro Sportsball

The major American professional sports leagues (NFL, NBA, MLB) have become unwatchable spectacles of demoralization. NHL is not as big and has bent the knee to a DEI commissar, but that is another story for another day. Fans who devote massive amounts of time and money to pro sportsball should reevaluate their priorities. Vote with your wallets and stop giving money to people who hate you.

The people who devote a large protion of their lives to learning stats, and following teams, will tell you, with a straight face, that your fascination with comic books, movies, video games, whatever they are not interested in, is juvenile, while thier obsession with the NFL/MLB/NHL/NBA/Whatever is the highest form of activity on a Saturday or Sunday or whatever day.

FBI v NBA

Doug Ross has an update on the NBA Betting Investigation. Top 20 Fun Facts: "Goodfellas NBA Edition"

In a plot predicted by the movie Ocean’s 17, the FBI bust of a sprawling gambling ring has exposed a bizarre network of NBA stars, New York’s notorious Mafia families, and cutting-edge technology. It’s like AI for cheaters.

Now I don't care much about any kinds of sports-ball, and the NBA is probably lowest in that list, with the possible exception of soccer. But a good scandal is always entertaining.

FBI investigations exposed rigged poker games, insider sports wagers, and violent debt collection tactics that netted millions.

Click thru for 20 facts that include names of players, Mafia crime families and associates, and more.

Here is the "I'm shocked - shocked I tell you !" scene from Casablanca.

New But Not Improved

The idea that all change is for the better is insane. Changes in the tech that we use, that we don't want, and don't need, and never asked for, because programmers, and programming managers, need to validate their existence.

I've been struggling with a set of changes made over at WordPress, that I hate, and don't have time to dive into right now. So it was interesting to see Bill Maher bitching about the same thing.

This is Bill Maher's video from Real Time: New Rule: Newer, Not Better

Reverse Improvement

The video is 9 minutes.

The incident I'm dealing with over at WordPress is that they finally deleted their classic editor. I knew this was coming. I'm actually surprised that they supported the classic editor as long as they did. I wanted to update the URL for video on the old blog, because the link was broken. Their new editor saw a YouTube URL and said to itself, "I know what you're really trying to do!" and replaced the entire post with an embed of the video in question. (WP developers, if any of you ever read this, that isn't what I want to do, ever.) I'm sure there is a way I can tell it go F-itself and let me edit the damn link, but I don't have the time, or the patience to look into it right now.

I Love a Story of an Underdog Making the Grade

From The Other McCain: ‘Coach Prime’ Silences Critics as Colorado Upsets TCU in Season-Opening Shocker

The Colorado hype train is now rolling downhill with a full head of steam, with people talking about Travis Hunter and/or Shedeur Sanders for the Heisman Trophy and, wondering if the Buffaloes might actually make it to the national championship — a worst-to-first Cinderella story that the sports media can’t resist. Is this hype warranted? I don’t know, but when you throw for 500+ yards in your season-opener against a Top 20 team — on the road! — it’s hard to see any ceiling to how high the hopes should be in Colorado this season.

I don't really follow football, college or NFL, but The Other McCain does. Click thru for the details, and some celebratory photos.

Is the Super Bowl Rigged?

From the Other McCain - Don’t Bet on the Super Bowl

Aside from gambling being a bad habbit to fall into... There are other problems.

And frankly, I’ve started to suspect that pro football is as rigged as pro wrestling. If you don’t believe me, ask any fan of the Cincinnati Bengals about the AFC championship game. The Kansas City Chiefs “won” that game about as convincingly as Joe Biden “won” the 2020 election, and Bengals fans are convinced the refs were in the tank for the Chiefs.

There is more on sportsball; click thru. I hope you all enjoy screaming at the TV later today.

And I know that your screaming at the TV over a bunch of guys playing a game - that apparently might be rigged to begin with - doesn't mean you are not sober (mostly) serious people. Way more serious than people who worry about stupid stuff like movies, and TV, and comic books, ... and culture.

The End of Women's Sports

Because why be a loser when you can be a winner? Biological male who was 72nd on boys’ track team takes first place on girls’ team

Last year, Hoffman was a mediocre cross-country runner on Seattle Academy’s boys’ team. During freshman year, Aspen Hoffman competed as a boy and finished 72nd in the League finals. Now, as a sophomore competing as a girl, Hoffman broke Seattle Academy’s school record in the girls’ 5000-meter category and ranks 1st in League. Hoffman’s time in the 5000-meter would rank him 48th if he had competed in the boys’ division. Earlier this semester, Hoffman took 2nd at Districts, qualifying Seattle Academy for the State championship.

Athletic scholarships will be next of course, if they haven't started to fall.

Even more troubling to students and parents, [Washington Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA)] eliminated aggrieved students and competing schools’ right to even question the participation of a trans student in female sports.

This is wrong. No matter how you feel about transgenderism, this is wrong.
