Another Failure of the Victim-selection Process

He probably thought an old man would be an easy target. Homeowner, 74, shoots suspected teen burglar inside Akron home Tuesday morning.

A 74-year-old Akron homeowner Tuesday morning confronted and shot a suspected teen burglar inside a Johnston Street home in what was described as a home invasion, Akron police said. [SNIP]

Police said they found a 16-year-old teen inside the home with multiple gunshot wounds. Police gave the teen first aid until he was transported to Akron Children's Hospital, where he is listed in stable condition.

The homeowner was not hurt. The investigation continues.

Pepper spray, that hit him directly in the face did have a roll in stopping him, but as more officers showed up to the scene, they also tried pepper spray with no impact.

He probably thought they were all stoned. Man fatally shot while attempting to rob Covington cannabis store.

Ryan Evans, director of operations of the local chain Euphorium, said the would-be robber accosted an employee in the parking lot of the Covington store, put the employee in a chokehold and held a gun to his head.

“The perpetrator walked the employee up to the store, got in the door and told our ID and security people, ‘This is a robbery,'” Evans said. “My ID checker said, ‘Are you serious?’ and when he was, my ID checker drew his weapon and fired.”

Washington is apparently seeing a rash of robberies of Cannabis stores, but this is level of threat is worse than most.

COVID Lockdowns and Good Intentions

Dead is dead: Increased Alcohol-Related Deaths, U.S., 2020-2021

Meep is an actuary. Studying the statistics of death is her job.

More Americans 65 and Under Died from Alcohol-Related Causes Than Covid-19 in 2020, Study Finds

If you think that the lockdown of the past 2 years was the best thing ever, then you should definitely NOT click that link, because that post deals with trade-offs we made. Trade-offs that were never discussed or even acknowledged by a lot of people.

Dead is dead: Does it matter if you died of a drinking yourself to death or of COVID?

As I remarked in the Team Reality Podcast last week, one of the more annoying aspects of policymaking in general, and not just during COVID, is treating everything as if no trade-offs are involved. It’s all-or-nothing. If you don’t go along with the lockdowns, you must want everybody dead.

Well, “they” must have wanted all these people to have died of alcohol-related deaths. The logic works both ways.

Many of the younger adults — those age 24 – 35, say, who were living by themselves — did not have serious risk from Covid. They did have serious risk from depression and isolation.

Alcohol-related deaths (including accidents but excluding COVID) increased from 213 per day before the pandemic to 282 per day during the pandemic. (33%)

What Meep can't examine are the long-term health impacts. How many people gained weight? How many people did develop drinking or other substance-abuse problems, who haven't died yet?

There are also possible impacts that are even less amenable to statistical analysis, such as lockdown led to drinking, which led to a lost job, or a broken marriage, or any number of other of impacts from the policy. And I know they had good intentions. See the image from the Good Intentions Paving Company above.

Sinners Hymn

More music by Orianthi has been finding its way into my playlists lately. I think that is a good thing. As for this song, it showcases a great guitar player. One who doesn't get the love she deserves. And I think it would have been at home on a 1980s Rock & Roll station.

This song is "Sinners Hymn" by Orianthi from her 2020 album O.

Here is what I wrote about her back in January.

Orianthi is an Australian guitar player, who probably had her first big break when she played on the 2nd stage at the 2007 edition of Eric Clapton's Crossroads Guitar Festival, which was held in Illinois that year. The Wiki (take it with a grain of salt) says her break came when she appeared at the 2009 Grammy Awards show, as guitarist for Carrie Underwood. Though you could say that meeting Carlos Santana, and then he helped her to get signed with Geffen Records in 2006 was what really mattered.

Irpin, Ukraine — Update

Update on the Ukraine War from Robert Stacy "The Other" McCain. Ukraine: Irpin Mayor Says Town Is ‘Liberated,’ Others Say … Eh, Maybe.

This is not the first time Mayor Markushyn has claimed this, however. He said the same thing a week ago, but his pronouncement was followed by a week of fierce fighting in Irpin. According to the New York Times, other sources say there may still be Russian troops holed up in Irpin, and the Ukrainian forces will have to do a house-by-house search to clear the town. At any rate, Irpin is the closest the Russians have come to Kyiv, and if they’ve been driven out of there, the remainder of the Russian advance force would be hunkered down in Hostomel and Bucha.

How's That Bail Reform Working Out?

As long as you don't count the victims, it is great. #49 #50 and #51: Our list of people accused of shooting (or shooting at) others while on felony bail in 2020 is growing longer today - CWB Chicago. The count is by year that bail was issued.

Our list of people accused of shooting (or shooting at) others while on felony bail in 2020 is growing by three today. We found the cases and a fourth that we’re saving for now while researching a story that you will be reading about soon on CWB Chicago. Here are the details of the cases that are being added to the list.

#49, Theophilus Sexton was on electronic monitoring when he shot a guy in front of his home.

#50, Otis Wise fired multiple times into a crowd.

#51, Jesse Davis was arrested for illegal gun possession in 2020. In 2022 he pointed a gun at a car, and then got into the car. He was arrested with a gun and heroin.

Sweden versus COVID

They didn't follow the recommendation. Sweden—Once Mocked for Its COVID Strategy—Now Has One of the Lowest COVID Mortality Rates in Europe.

Sweden, which avoided strict lockdowns, now has a lower COVID mortality rate than 29 countries in Europe alone.

Because lockdowns didn't work. I leave it to you to find those stats - they are out there for the US states. Here's some data from Sweden.

I spent a great deal of time in 2020 and 2021 arguing that the media was getting the narrative wrong on Sweden, pointing out that Sweden’s response had resulted in exponentially fewer deaths than modelers had predicted and lower mortality overall than most of Europe.

The BBC also noted Sweden’s economy had not suffered nearly as much as the economies of other European nations, and, more importantly, as other countries were implementing more lockdown measures in 2021, daily COVID deaths in Sweden had reached zero.

Because lockdowns were never about health. They were about control. If they were about health, they did a very bad job of producing it.

“[There’s a] persistent tendency of men to see only the immediate effects of a given policy,” Hazlitt wrote in Economics in One Lesson, “and to neglect to inquire what the long-run effects of that policy will be not only on that special group but on all groups.”

Hazlitt described this as “the fallacy of overlooking secondary consequences.”

The consequences of COVID Policy includes a lot of people dead from depression and its affects. A generation of students whose education has been harmed. And probably a whole lot more.

He suffered from a failure of the victim-selection process. Burglary Suspect Shot By Homeowner Linked To Second Break-In | JoCo Report

He apparently thought he was still in New Jersey. Things are different in North Carolina.

Around 7:45am Tuesday, authorities said a 58 year-old woman, her 33 year-old daughter, and her daughter’s two children, ages 12 days-old and 8 years-old, were inside their home at 2215 Swift Creek Road. Johnston County deputies said the suspect, Sergiy Bezroukov of Budd Lake, New Jersey, threw a large rock through a window and gained entry.

The 58 year-old resident retrieved a handgun and encountered Bezroukov while he was in her kitchen. She fired a single round from her handgun grazing Bezroukov in his hand and upper leg. He fled out the door as the victim dialed 911.

Police found him nearby and had him taken to the hospital.

After he got out of the hospital, he was booked into the county lockup.

Hunter Biden and Ukrainian Biolabs

I'm sure Twitter and F*c*book will be suspending The Post (and me) for daring to impune the Biden Clan. Hunter Biden helped secure funds for US biolab contractor in Ukraine: e-mails.

Russia’s assertion that President Biden’s son Hunter was “financing . . . biological laboratories in Ukraine” was based in truth, according to e-mails reviewed by The Post.

A trove of e-mails on Hunter Biden’s infamous laptop — the existence of which was exclusively reported by The Post in October 2020 — found that he played a role in helping a California defense contractor analyze killer diseases and bioweapons in Ukraine.

Hunter Biden's laptop is the gift that keeps on giving. If only there was someway that we could have known all of this before the election.

The EMS Shortage in Maine is a Crisis

30 minutes or more, just to get to someone calling 911, before you start the drive to the hospital. “A Call For Help:” Maine’s EMS and Paramedic shortage

“The volunteer system was great back in the day when you had one income. Now you have multiple income families, some families have multiple jobs. They don’t want to get up in the middle of the night, they don’t want to get up from a dinner table to go on those calls. So the volunteer ideation is gone,” said [Rob McGraw, Chief of the East Millinocket Fire/EMS Department.]

It’s a systemic problem for rural EMS and paramedics.

And of course there just isn't enough money in the system - a system that is controlled mostly by government. So what happens if things go on without major changes?

“There’s going to be people who call 911 and no one is going to show up,” said McGraw.

Is Biden Trying to Provoke WWIII?

He seems to be doing exactly that. President Biden’s Putin speech in Poland is a catastrophe

He came, he saw, he confused.

Joe Biden’s call-to-arms speech in Poland was long on soaring rhetoric about the virtues of democracy but woefully short on what more the West will do to help Ukraine defeat the Russian invasion. But by the time he got to the finish, most of that was forgotten.

What mattered most and what will be remembered for a long time was a single line the president of the United States said about the president of Russia

Go read the whole depressing thing. This is the "Foreign Policy Expert" that you all voted for in 2020. Or as VP Harris said, this is what you asked for.

I did particularly like this line:

Was it Russian disinformation, like Hunter Biden’s emails? Or maybe the dramatic line just walked into the speech by itself?

That wasn't the only thing that staff was forced to "explain." How do you explain that what he clearly said was not what he meant to say? So often, that is. Or do you really mean, "That is not what we told him to say." Not that a President Harris would do much better; her word-salad is almost as horrible.

He Has Some Serious Training for This

Don't F*ck around when a UFC fighter is in the area, or you will find out. UFC Fighter Kevin Holland Helps Disarm Gunman at Houston Restaurant

UFC fighter Kevin Holland was in a Houston sushi restaurant with his friend fellow MMA fighter, Patrick Robinson.

That is when a guy fired a gun into the air, and Holland saw one man trying to wrestle the gun away from the shooter.

Holland told ESPN on Tuesday that he put the gunman in a 'rear-naked choke submission hold' until he was asleep, then held him down and made sure the gun was no longer in reach until the police arrived shortly after.

"I wouldn't tell the next person to do it unless they're seriously trained for that type of situation," Holland said to ESPN. "Besides doing cage fighting, I train self-defense first and foremost. For me, that was the best way to defend myself at the moment. Plus, I like Batman."

There were no injuries reported.

Amazon Continues to Treat Both Employees and Contractors as Disposable

This is not right. Amazon sued after Atlanta, GA man shot two delivery drivers | Raleigh News & Observer

Two Amazon contract drivers were trying to deliver packages to an address. They were both shot. (The shooter has been arrested.)

Amazon Flex drivers don't have any vests to identify them as Amazon.

Attorneys for Gutierrez and Denson said Amazon failed to provide them with any clothing that would identify them as Amazon delivery drivers, as well as proper safety training. They also said the company doesn’t use software that lets a customer know when a driver is approaching.

That software is routinely used by other delivery companies such as UPS, FedEx, Lyft, Uber, GrubHub and Doordash, according to the complaint.

Because Amazon has always treated its employees as disposable. Here's a link to a post on how Amazon delayed medical treatment to an employee having a heart attack because "Why bother?"

I would love to say that I never buy anything from Amazon, but they have become my retailer of last resort. Even if I have to pay a small premium to buy from a another site - and you can almost always find stuff for the same price, and sometimes for less at other sites.

Can you guess what Amazon's position is?

Click thru for the details of this case. The status of the parents. How the kid was raised by other relatives. The overall situation in Philadelphia is what caught my attention.

What were you doing at 15? I'm guessing shooting people isn't on that list of activities.

It Is Not Just Property Crime

The decline of law and order has deadly consequences. New Orleans minors arrested, accused in Mid-City deadly carjacking

A 73-year-old woman, Linda Frickey, was killed when she was carjacked by 4 juveniles. She got tangled in the seat-belt, because they did not give her time to get out of the car, and they dragged her for blocks.

Superintendent Shaun Ferguson confirmed that one 17-year-old boy, one 16-year-old girl, and two 15-year-old girls were arrested.

Not that their arrest will constitute justice.

There is apparently a crime-surge in New Orleans, because the DA, the police and the mayor are squabbling about funding.

And because this case has gotten a fair amount of media attention, the DA has been forced to act like a DA.

While we will allow the NOPD to complete a thorough investigation, any and all persons that the evidence shows participated in the murder of this elder will be prosecuted to the absolute fullest extent of the law.

I will only believe that if they charge the 17-year-old as an adult.

There is video at that link above. It comes with a warning.

Russia's Supply Problem in Ukraine

Logistical problems have stopped more than one invading army. Vladimir Putin latest: Russian troops cut off as Belarusians sabotage railway supply lines.

Oleksandr Kamyshin, head of Ukrzaliznytsia (Ukrainian Railways) said that after several acts of sabotage on the Belarus side of the border, that "there is no railway connection between Ukraine and Belarus."

Ukrainians have also been destroying rail infrastructure on their side of the border. (Hat tip to The Other McCain.)

As for the roll of logistics...

In 1858 Thomas Carlyle published a volume about Frederick the Great containing the following ...
. . . as our little Friend at Berlin came to know, that “an Army, like a serpent, goes upon its belly.”

Frederick the Great was King in Prussia from 1740 until 1772, and King of Prussia from 1772 until his death. (The title changed, but not the position.) Prussia became a military power under his rule.

Fire

I love knowing about new music. And this is about as new as it gets. Floor Jansen, lead singer for Nightwish, released a solo single yesterday, and while Nightwish is a Symphonic Metal band, today's song is Pop (as described by Floor).

It is so much better than the "Pop" music coming out of America today. She doesn't need AutoTune to sing. The musicians backing her are actual musicians. I think you might enjoy it. (The tympani had me double-guessing that statement about musicians for a bit, until the violins came in, and I realized what I was hearing.)

This is "Fire" by Floor Jansen. It was released as a single on Friday.

That is the "official video" and for a change, I don't mind it. If you want just the audio, that can be found at this link.

I've looked at a few of the interviews she's given, and although she has written more than one new piece of music, there is no talk of an album being in the works.

There Ain't No Such Thing as a Free COVID Test

Lots of Taxpayers' dollars made that possible. Tax Dollars: ‘Six Porsches, Six BMWs, Two Mercedes-Benzes, a Ferrari, and a Tesla’.

And with all that money flowing through the system some people took advantage. In this case, bunch of cars and two private jets.

Keep this in mind if the question ever arises why politicians sought to make COVID-19 vaccine mandatory. Pharmaceutical companies made billions off the “free” vaccine. They make big contributions to politicians, and employ obbyists in Washington. “Follow the money.”

Same type of question should be asked about the lockdowns. Who made money and who went out of business?

Of course, it is impossible to ascertain exact information about a battlefield situation on the other side of the globe, but these limited reports indicate that the Ukraine counter-offensive is making progress. If that is the case, we should soon begin hearing about fighting around Borodyanka, a key crossroads that would logically need to be taken by Ukrainian forces seeking to surround the Russian force at Bucha.

Jinjer is Raising Money for Ukrainian Relief

Since they are from Ukraine, that makes a lot of sense. Jinjer Mech

Dear friends! Over 11,000 Donation Tee's sold and 130.000€ raised in the last few weeks! Your support will not only help so many people in need but sends a much needed positive sign that they are not alone. The first donations totaling 10K have already been sent to a bomb shelter in Kyiv housing and protecting 300 people, and a Slovakian humanitarian convoy collecting urgent medical supplies, food and clothing to be delivered Uzhgorod for refugees from the Kharkiv and Chernihiv regions who have been hit hard since the war started.

Help Ukraine and get a cool Jinjer Tee.

Again from The Other McCain - Russians Surrounded in ‘Bucha Pocket’?

Again, let me emphasize we must be cautious about this. However, there are estimates that about 15,000 Russian troops are in the “pocket” around Bucha, and these troops must receive tons of food, ammunition and other supplies every day in order to survive. If Ukrainian forces are able to threaten the Russian supply line, this could compel a Russian retreat from the suburbs of Kyiv or, otherwise, the “Falaise pocket” metaphor could become reality, and these Russians would find themselves surrounded and blasted into oblivion:

Los Angeles Has a Crime Problem

Because properly funding police, and enforcing the rule of law is unfair. Or something. Hollywood Hills homeowner targeted in armed home invasion as Los Angeles robberies rise | Fox News

LAPD Chief Michel Moore on Tuesday said robberies in Los Angeles involving a firearm have increased 44% this year.

Robberies citywide have increased nearly 18%, according to LAPD data.

And of course it is the guns' fault. The people are powerless to resist the call of the gun. Or something. It couldn't possibly be the fault of the people, who will never be held accountable, even if they are caught. (That would be unfair!)

In this case...

The suspects tied up Farrer with zip-ties and demanded the watches he kept in his home, the station reported. Farrer said he pointed to two briefcases, which the suspects grabbed before leaving.

While those briefcases were empty, the suspects still got away with a backpack of jewelry and another briefcase worth $30,000, the report said.

Trump Sues Hillary Clinton, DNC Over Russian Collusion

Lying about people has consequences. Or it should anyway. Trump sues Hillary Clinton, DNC over 'unthinkable' Russia 'plot' in 2016 election

Former President Donald Trump on Thursday filed a $24 million federal lawsuit alleging that Hillary Clinton and the Democratic National Committee launched a wide-ranging “unthinkable plot” in 2016 to smear him and his campaign as colluding with Russian officials.

I expect that the Clinton will escape any responsibility for the Steele Dossier.

Bureaucracies Protect Themselves — UK Edition

London's Metropolitan Police force, often known as Scotland Yard, is a mess. Cocaine, cash and jewellery stolen by corrupt cops

Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services, which goes by HMICFRS or sometimes HMIC, has been trying for at least 5 years to get The Met to make some reforms around hiring, evidence storage, Information Technology monitoring and other things to try and get some control on corruption. Some of the problems go back at least as far as a high-profile murder in 1987. The Met Police has failed to learn anything from their failure in that case. By and large, nothing has been done about the recommendations from HMICFRS.

An independent inquiry into how the force handled [that 1987] case found it was institutionally corrupt, saying it had concealed or denied failings to protect its reputation.

“Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?”

The current set of problems/recommendations make it seem as though the organization is insane.

Hiring: The Metropolitan Police Department is hiring people with criminal records, and with ties to known criminals, without even bothering to check.

Evidence: Is for the most part not secured, and tends to go missing.

Across the board, the report flagged concerns with security measures in stations and evidence rooms gave corrupt staff "ample opportunity" to interfere with seized property and evidence.

In one of the stations investigated, the security code for a store was written on its door.

This has resulted in the "loss" of cash, drugs, and jewelry.

IT monitoring: The Met is not tracking the use of its information technology systems to be sure that no is accessing data illegally.

This was all brought into sharp focus by the abduction, rape, and murder of Sarah Everard by a serving member of the Metropolitan police. Cops also did quite a lot - later deemed to be illegal - to squash protests about the death. Hey, they were protests about police, really. But there was more...

The issue was further heightened earlier this year after messages between officers were shared which joked about rape.

In the face of all of that, and more, the cops still are not willing to change.

The panel that looked into Morgan’s murder, set up by the government, reported last year and found the Met to be institutionally corrupt. In part, that was because the force was slow to hand over documents requested, and was accused of trying to cover up to protect its reputation instead of doing the right thing.

News from Ukraine from The Other McCain

The Other McCain has been doing a great job of keeping me informed of what's going on over there. I don't have much stomach the regular news, and I have been trying to avoid the political side of social media, since it is infuriating.

The first story is that a Guards regiment has been destroyed. UKRAINE: Most Shocking News So Far

Multiple outlets are reporting that an elite Russian airborne regiment, the 331st Guards, has been wiped out in the fighting near Kyiv. Both the regimental commander, Col. Sergei Sukharev (pictured above) and his deputy, Major Sergei Krylov, have been confirmed by the Russians as killed in action, which lends credence to the otherwise unbelievable claim that an entire regiment of paratroopers is now hors de combat.

As in the old Soviet Union, in the Russian military only the elite units are given the "Guards" designation.

Russian casualties are quite high. From Bad to Worse for Russia in Ukraine

Supposedly, a pro-Putin tabloid in Moscow published (and then deleted) an official tally of Russia’s casualties in Ukraine — nearly 10,000 killed and more than 15,000 injured/wounded as of Monday. Do the math, and they’re suffering casualties at the rate of about 400 KIA and 650 wounded daily.

That is about 10 times the rate of casualties as the US suffered in the worst year in Vietman. That is a severe level of killed and wounded.

Another important bit of news from The Other McCain - Key Victory for Ukraine?

The “fierce battle” that drove the Russians out of Makariv almost certainly added to the death toll for Putin’s army. The Ukrainians have wiped out entire regiments of the Russian army, and killed a half-dozen of their top commanders, and the higher the price the Russians are made to pay in blood, the more likely they are to decide that their invasion is a bad bargain.

The Ukrainians are doing much better than most people expected.

Though I haven't heard of them either. And it was a bit tough to find info. There is some information on Bandcamp for Spock's Beard, like they are out of Los Angeles, and have 3 albums. What Happens When the Police Are Forbidden to Maintain Order?

Lawlessness becomes rampant. Tarzana Homeowner Puts Neighborhood On Alert After Shooting Trespasser - Local News 8

This is a fairly standard story of self-defense. Stranger enters a property that is not his, confronts the homeowner, acts in a threatening manor and gets shot.

The only wrinkles in the story are that the house was vacant, it is next door to the owner's residence, and this took place in Los Angeles. It is still being viewed as self-defense.

“It’s most likely going to be some kind of self-defense on the part of the owner who did fire one round at our victim,” [LAPD Lt. Julie] Rodriguez said.

As for the homeowner, the increase in the homeless population has become an issue. A car was stolen out of his backyard.

As a result, he told his daughters, ages 5 and 10, that they are not allowed to play in their own yard “specifically because we were concerned that somebody would come back – like they did today.”

As always, these stories bring up Hobbes' description of the state of war, which exists when the breakdown of law and order takes hold.

What's the Difference Between These “Intelligence Experts” and The Stazi?

I honestly don't think that these "experts" will ever face any consequences. 'Intelligence' experts refuse to apologize for smearing Hunter Biden story

They are the supposed nonpartisan group of top spies looking out for the best interest of the nation.

But the 51 former “intelligence” officials who cast doubt on The Post’s Hunter Biden laptop stories in a public letter really were just desperate to get Joe Biden elected president. And more than a year later, even after their Deep State sabotage has been shown again and again to be a lie, they refuse to own up to how they undermined an election.

The NY Post was suspended from Twitter for posting the first article about Hunter Biden's laptop. Numerous people were banned - had their accounts deleted - from Twitter. I'm not on F*c*book, but I can only assume that the same shit was happening over their.

Then the NY Times decides to admit - in the bottom of a story, hidden behind a paywall - that it was in fact, Hunter's laptop.

The guy who owned the computer repair store, where Hunter Biden left the laptop, was investigated by the FBI for something about spreading false info, he was targetted by the IRS, because they are the willing stooges of the Democrats, he recieved numerous death threats, and he was forced out of business. But hey, the NY Times admitted they were wrong. 18 months later.

The whole US intelligence operation needs to be cleaned starting at the top, but maybe not going all the way to the bottom. I would like to think that some people are still good, but the higher-ups have become too political. They have become the Stazi, and the FSB and the KGB. Just with different 3-letter acronyms. They have become appendages of The Party.

Actually the answer to the question in the title of this post is, "The Stazi was more honest about who they were." They were stone-cold bastards and never pretended to be anything else.

Faceless

Since Buckethead got included in one of my playlists, and I signified that I liked the song, I have been seeing more guitarists being featured. I've had at least one Musical Interlude on Orianthi, for example. But today we have new music from an old favorite. (He's older than me, so I'm allowed to call him that.)

This song is "Faceless" by Joe Satriani from his (upcoming) April 2022 album, The Elephants Of Mars.

He did release another single from this album about a month before this song was released in February, but I didn't like that first offering as much as I like this one. I will have to listen to that other single again.

This album I actually was referred to on social media. It does have some redeeming values.

The backstory of how Ace became Ace is rather interesting. Robert Spencer at PJ Media - Hey, What Happened to the 51 Intel Agents Who Assured Us Hunter's Laptop was Russian Disinformation?

The whole world knows now that Hunter Biden’s legendary laptop is real, and as Matt Margolis noted Friday, “all that’s left is anger — anger at how the media and Big Tech deliberately suppressed this damaging story about Hunter Biden to protect Joe Biden in the waning weeks of the presidential campaign.” Foremost among those protecting Old Joe were 51 senior American intelligence officials who on Oct. 19, 2020, published a statement asserting that “the arrival on the US political scene of emails purportedly belonging to Vice President Biden’s son Hunter, much of it related to his time serving on the Board of the Ukrainian gas company Burisma, has all the classic earmarks of a Russian information operation.” It wasn’t. None of these alleged intel agents, however, have come clean and admitted that they lied and that Hunter’s laptop was genuine. Not a single one.

Yet the leaders of the West have, with few exceptions, chosen to reduce the relative power of their countries through their opposition to fossil fuel production and use combined with hostility toward further development of nuclear energy—or even the continued operation of existing nuclear plants.
