The primary assumption surrounding gun control is that guns are impossible for the average person to manufacture. That really is not the case.

Self-Defense: International Edition

Today's story is from South Africa. Holy justice: Tsotsi shot during church 'robbery' | Daily Sun

Why would anyone need to be armed in church? That is a question the Left loves to throw around. But you are not protected from bad things happening in a house of worship.

Mpumalanga police spokesman, Brigadier Donald Mdluli said two armed suspects are said to have entered the place of worship in the evening.

"The suspects allegedly held the victims at gunpoint then robbed one of the congregants of his cell phone as well as an undisclosed amount of cash. One suspect is said to have fired some shots and injured three victims.

At that point one of the parishioners opened fire, killing the gunman, who the article called a "thug," and running off his partner.

It is not just the US where your average citizen has the right of self-defense. Two Suspects Hospitalised After Attempted Home Robbery in Richmond Hill | Central News South Africa

How should a 73-year-old homeowner respond to multiple intruders in his home in the middle of the night?

According to Eastern Cape Police spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse Van Rensburg, the incident unfolded when a 73-year-old homeowner was awoken by a noise coming from inside his house. Armed with his firearm, the elderly man went to investigate the source of the disturbance. As he made his way through his home, he encountered three suspects in the passage.

Richmond Hill, Eastern Cape, is about 400 miles east of Cape Town, and about 400 miles southwest of Durban.

Two of the three suspects were wounded by gunfire. The third guy ran like a rabbit.

Initial investigations have revealed that the suspects gained entry to the house by removing a window in the front bedroom. Fortunately, nothing was stolen, and the homeowner did not sustain any injuries during the incident.

Local Militia Action - South African Edition

From Richard Abelson at The Gateway Pundit: South Africa: Using Only Pistols, Local Militia Stops 15 Armed Robbers with AK-47s Who Blew Up Armored Truck.

On Thursday, 9/21, local farmer militiamen in South Africa stopped a gang of 15 armed robbers armed with AK-47s who had just robbed an armored car, killing the driver. The local volunteers apprehended the fugitives after a high-speed chase, including a dangerous Mozambican criminal wanted for murder of a police officer.

Various groups of farmers are forming militias in response to increased rural crime.

The militia was notified of the attack and blocked the road the robbers were using.

Police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said the community protection team “returned fire and when the dust settled, four suspects were fatally shot, one injured and arrested while others managed to evade arrest by running into nearby bushes,” The Citizen reports.

The farmers tracked them down using dogs. (Hat tip to Kim du Toit at Splendid Isolation.)

Five guys tried to rob a butcher shop. They suffered a failure of the victim-selection process.

A manager at a butchery shot and killed a man who attempted to rob his shop in Newtown, Johannesburg, last week.

Two men were in the shop, and even placed an order for cold cuts. But then they drew weapons, and three accomplices rushed into the store.

"My manager shot one [of the suspects] in the head. The other four tried to flee but were arrested because, luckily, SAPS was driving past."

It is the 2nd robbery in 2 weeks, and this is not the only shop that has been targeted.

This story is from July, but that is because it comes to us via Active Self Protection and Butcher Pulls Switcheroo On Armed Robbers. The video is just shy of 7 minutes, and though blurred out does show the shooting.

Self-defense is a human-right, and it appears to be your legal right in South Africa.

Father Protects His Family - International Edition

South Africa has a history of self-defense. Home invaders killed by Arena Park father | Rising Sun Chatsworth

Arena Park is a community in the Chatsworth township of the KwaZulu-Natal province of South Africa. It might be fair to call it a suburb of Durban.

According to reports from the scene, it is alleged that the homeowner arrived at his property after a family outing to find his gate open.

Upon closer inspection of his home, he encountered the armed suspects, who were in possession of jewellery and other belongings after a thorough ransacking of the premises. A scuffle ensued and the homeowner withdrew his firearm, fatally shooting both suspects.

Instead of being shocked, neighbors expressed their support of the father for his "quick thinking" in the situation, on social media and in other venues.

One community member said, “Residents have had enough of the high crime rate and will now take matters into our own hands. This is a good thing that was done. It is either us or them and this is one of the few occasions where violent deaths brought hundreds together for the better.”

South Africa seems to have a strong culture of self-defense. Homeowner shoots at armed intruders

Three intruders allegedly armed with a 9mm handgun and knives ran out of luck in a property in Mulbarton, Glenvista, south of Johannesburg on 2 July.

According to an active security company in the area, Fox Security, the intruders entered a home in Mulbarton, Glenvista and tried to rob a homeowner.

They were armed with knives and at least one pistol. One of the miscreants was shot and killed. Another was shot and wounded. The third bad-guy broke his arm and wrist while running like a rabbit.

You might say that they suffered a breakdown of the victim-selection process.

Fox Security (South Africa is screwed up enough that no one relies on the public police force, but on armed private security) caught the 2 guys who were still alive, and they believe this crew was responsible for string of robberies in the area.

So an armed, law-abiding citizen appears to have put an end to a crime spree.

Glenvista is just south of Johannesburg, South Africa. Suspect killed in Glenvista attempted armed robbery

They suffered a failure of the Victim-selection Process.

One suspect was shot and later died in what appears to be an attempted armed robbery last night, May 13 in Glenvista.

Francois Jansen, operation director for Fox Security said a resident shot one of the four armed robbers after they tried to rob him and his family on The Dome Street.

Three others escaped. I read that as, they ran like rabbits when they were met with armed resistance. See the statement on the victim-selection process above.

Law Enforcement folks are urging people in the area to be vigilant. Because when seconds count, police are only minutes away.
