A Government Program Ahead of Schedule

From Wombat-socho: Better Late than Never

This is the second government program I've seen this month, that is listed as ahead of schedule. The other program was also notably under budget. Surely this is a sign of End Times, or something.

Speaking of the Nevada Security Site Advisory Board, we’re going to be closing up shop at the end of fiscal year 2027 since the environmental management & remediation that we’re providing oversight for is almost done, a year ahead of schedule. I’m going to miss being on the NSSAB; it’s been very educational in quite a few ways.

At least some good news is coming out of government.

Self-defense in Nevada

Police are treating it like self-defense. HPD: Man killed in possible self-defense shooting outside Henderson shopping center

Henderson, Nevada is about 16 miles southeast of downtown Las Vegas.

An initial investigation revealed that two cars pulled into the parking lot after one car had possibly struck the other. A 55-year-old man exited his vehicle and flashed a gun in his waistband to the other driver. However, the other driver, a 42-year-old man, was also armed and shot the 55-year-old.

So he died over a fender bender? Not the best choice.

Cops don't make determinations on charges, and I have no feeling for how the Clark County DA feels about self-defense. Self-defense is a human right.

Self Defense in Nevada

I'm a bit shocked that the determination was so quick. Police: Fatal shooting in Henderson parking lot was likely done in self-defense. The incident took place on Wednesday, June 12th.

Henderson is a suburb of Las Vegas. I have no idea what the DA in that city/county is like.

Investigators in Henderson believe a fatal shooting in a Walmart parking lot on Wednesday was possibly done in self-defense.

A guy approached a vehicle with a gun in his hand. The guy in the vehicle defended himself. After the soon-to-be-dead-guy was shot, he fired several rounds at the vehicle.

Police are not giving away too many details, but if I was to guess, I would guess that these two guys knew one another. It is only a guess. It could have been an attempted carjacking.

What isn't a guess is that self defense is a human right.

Organized Retail Crime IS Really Organized

What happens when you "decriminalize" robbery? Steal less than $1000, and the cops will ignore it. Pretty soon they are ignoring all retail theft, until it gets out of hand.

From Not the Bee we get a story of organized crime, 21st Century style, out of Los Angeles. Watch: Police in LA raid warehouse FILLED with shoplifted goods

This is a level of organized crime we thought was gone from the world after the days of Al Capone. But it's still alive and well in LA.

That sounds organized. As does a "warehouse" filled with 100s of thousands of dollars worth of stolen goods. Actually it was the backroom of a relatively small market in LA, and not a warehouse. (Watch the embedded video at the link; it is less than 2 minutes.)

Welcome to Los Angeles, a nice place to live.

That is unless you're a normal American who cares about theft and organized crime being king of the city. Then it's not so nice.

This particular warehouse is connected to thefts in Arizona, Nevada, and California.

The same politicians and pundits who thought it was a good idea to treat retail theft as not-a-crime, denounce the eeeevil corporations, when they decide that they can't make money in a city and close down because of law and order problems. Or maybe that should be the lack of law and order. They really do want to have it both ways.

Sierra Mountains Snow Storm

KCRA is an NBC affiliate in Sacramento that does a fair job of reporting on snow conditions in the Sierra mountains. Also on drought, and flood, but that is not what they have this year. Lake Tahoe area snow totals: More than 7 feet of snow added from the weekend's Sierra snowstorm

After four days of relentless snow, final totals are coming in from California's Lake Tahoe region.

Some Sierra ski resorts reported more than seven feet of snow from Thursday through Sunday. The heaviest snow came during the second half of Friday and Saturday.

They also reference one of my favorite meteorological sites, the Berkley Central Sierra Snow Lab at Donner Pass.

At the UC Berkeley Central Sierra Snow Lab site near Donner Summit, round-the-clock observations added up for a four-day total of 75.2 inches of snow. The snowpack water content at that site is now 199% of average for the date.

That is important, because the snow melt fills the reservoirs of the California Aqueduct system. Without that system Los Angeles would go back to being a desert, and agriculture would not be possible, or not profitable anyway, in the Central Valley.

If you're interested in how this storm came to be, Juan Browne at Blancoliro has a great video explaining the orographic lift that created this snowfall, and also the dry winds in Texas contributing to the fires. (The relevant part of the video - while I enjoyed all of it - is about 3 minutes, following the point at which I have it queued up.)

Self-defense Is Legal in Nevada

But then I thought that it was. Police rule deadly shooting at Verdi home an act of self defense | KRNV

The man who shot and killed Morais told News 4's Joe Hart said he was his neighbor and he snuck into his home in the middle of the night, armed and dressed in black from head-to- to like an "assassin."

The shooter, who asked that we don't identify him, said he had just enough time to grab his gun and start shooting.

And this is another example of where people you know can be a threat. He knew his neighbor, but he was still forced to defend himself from his neighbor.

Climate Protesters Are Shocked to be Arrested for Breaking the Law

I've never heard of Freedom News before, but I found this story thanks to The Social Media Platform Formerly Known as Twitter. Burning Man Festival Road SHUT DOWN, Attendees Fight Protesters and RANGERS RAM Blockade and Point Gun at Activist’s Head – NEVADA

So they blocked the road with a trailer and chained themselves to it. The Burners were pissed of and started a ruckus, but the real entertainment began when the Nevada Rangers decided enough was enough, destroyed their barricade, and arrested them.

Navada is not Portland or Seattle.

The group blocked a main thoroughfare using a trailer, lock-ons, and banners with the words “BURNERS OF THE WORLD, UNITE!”, “ABOLISH CAPITALISM”, and “GENERAL STRIKE FOR CLIMATE”.

There is a link to an alternate view of the incident after the embedded video.

This is the video Burning Man Festival Road SHUT DOWN, Attendees Fight Protesters and RANGERS RAM Blockade - NEVADA

Here is that other, shorter video, by way of Twitter/X.

Armed Homeowner Stops Burglar

And it isn't the first home that he stole from. Or tried to, anyway. Nye Co. Sheriff: Pahrump homeowner shoots intruder

Pahrump is an unincorporated part of Nye County, Nevada. It is about 60 miles from Las Vegas.

A homeowner woke up because he heard an intruder in his home. The intruder then kicked open the bedroom door.

The homeowner, who is not facing charges, then shot Richard twice.

Two shots center-mass. They had to fly the guy out to a trauma center in Las Vegas.

Deputies found Richard in possession of a shotgun that was taken the previous night during a home invasion on the 8000 block of Ralph Court.

Richard also is facing charges of grand larceny of a firearm and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, the sheriff’s office said.

That is in addition to the charges of home invasion and burglary.

The guy who got shot was on parole at the time of the home invasion.

Self-defense is a human-right, and Nevada has not morphed into New Jersey. Not quite.

Self-defense Is Legal in Nevada

But then I always suspected that it was. Police say deadly Moana Lane shooting was self defense, no arrests

The Reno Police Department says they will not be arresting anyone at this time because the shooter was acting in self defense of others.

The RPD determined the person who was shot was committing and armed felony offense at the time.

The guy who got shot was taken to a hospital, but he died.

Self-defense is a human-right.

Self-defense Is Legal in Reno

Nevada has also not become New Jersey. Reno police say shooter who fatally shot two men acted in self-defense

The shooter who fatally shot two men at a parking lot last month is believed to have acted in self-defense, Reno police said in a press statement Tuesday evening.

RPD came to this conclusion after detectives conducted interviews and reviewed surveillance video footage of the surrounding area, they said.

All over a "fender bender."

Two Days, Two Home-invaders, Two Armed Homeowners

Proving that Nevada is NOT New Jersey. Two days, two intruders shot in Douglas County homes.

For the second day in a row, the Douglas County Sheriff's Office (DCSO) has responded to a call of a person entering a home uninvited and being shot by a homeowner.

One home-invader was killed, the other was shot and then detained by the homeowner until police arrived. Both cases are under investigation.

Self-defense is a human-right.

Self-defense Is Legal in Nevada

I thought it was, but you can never really be sure. Deaths of 2 Las Vegas men seen as acts of self-defense | Las Vegas Review-Journal.

The first incident took place on August 30th.

Detectives believe Williams broke into his ex-girlfriend’s home and “started fighting” with the woman’s new boyfriend. The other man then shot and killed Williams, said Metropolitan Police Department homicide Lt. Ray Spencer.

The 2nd incident took place on October 18th.

Vesper was shot during a fight but that detectives believe the shooting was in self-defense. He said he had no additional details on the dispute.

The cases were "both submitted to the Clark County District Attorney’s Office for review."

Self-defense shootings, classified by Metro as “justifiable homicides,” are on the rise this year, according to department records. As of Sunday, when Metro’s online logs were last updated, there have been 22 self-defense killings this year, an 83 percent increase from the 12 self-defense homicides seen during the same time frame last year.

And the Left hates that. Individuals taking action. People taking responsibility for their own safety. Where will it end?

Don't Bring a Knife to a Gunfight

It won't end well for you. Las Vegas police: Man stabbed 6 times shoots, kills roommate near 215, Patrick.

This story also proves that drugs can be hazardous to your health.

[LVMPD Lt. Ray] Spencer said one of the men was under the influence of narcotics and "delusional." At some point the man grabbed a knife, which scared the roommate, and the roommate grabbed a shotgun. The man on drugs attacked the other man and stabbed him six times, Spencer said. The man with the shotgun then shot the man with the knife several times.

Several shots from a shotgun will ruin your day, and the guy who got shot was dead at the scene. The guy who got shot was taken to a local hospital where he is in serious condition.

Another story that proves the fact that you shot someone you know, is not always a tragedy.

Spencer said the case appears to be self defense.

And self-defense is a human-right. It may even be your legal right in Nevada

The Zombie Apocalypse is upon us!

I want to be shocked, but I grew up just outside of Chicago, where the dead folks voting were responsible for electing JFK, back in the day. Nevada Records Show Dead Voter Rose From The Grave To Cast Ballot

On Oct. 9 this year, Fred Stokes Jr. was mailed a ballot in Clark County, Nevada, for the upcoming presidential election just less than 30 days away. Three weeks later, the county confirmed the ballot’s receipt on Halloween and marked it off as “completed.” There remained only one problem with Stokes’ absentee ballot counted on the fall holiday: Fred Stokes Jr. had been dead for three years.

So tell me again how there is no such thing as vote fraud.

Self-defense in Nevada

Warning shots are never a good idea. Carson City man jailed after homeowner shoots him in foot for alleged attempted break-in

A 24-year-old Carson City man was arrested early Saturday for suspicion of felony home invasion after being shot in the foot by a homeowner who had attempted to scare the suspect away, according to a sheriff's office booking report.

He was shot in the foot by what was intended to be a warning.

It isn't often you see a .22 caliber pistol used in a self-defense shooting, and I would hate to rely on something that small, but in this case it seems to have worked.

Self-defense is a human-right. Good Guys 1, Bad Guys 0.
