Drugs Can Be Hazardous to Your Health

First, he called 911 on himself. He was incoherent, and he hung up, so 911 called him back. He said he didn't feel safe in his own home. And so he went in search of that feeling of safety. (Hint: He didn't find it.)

Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Detective Captain Adam Fisher says the 46-year-old suspect made a confusing call to 9-1-1 around 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday, providing just his McKinley Avenue address. Dispatchers called him back. He said he feared for his life, did not feel safe in his own home and was going to start walking down the street to contact neighbors.

Fisher says the man entered at least three homes. One homeowner fired a warning shot to get him to leave and another homeowner shoved him back outside.

So in at least one situation, he is lucky to not have been shot.

New Philadelphia, Ohio is about a 45 mile drive south of Akron.

Deputies found this guy, and took him to a local hospital.

Fisher says the man allegedly ingested methamphetamine which led to his erratic behavior. He faces one charge – trespassing into a habitation – but Fisher anticipates more.

Sadly felony stupidity is not something he can be charged with in the State of Ohio.

He was still in the hospital when this article was written. When the doctors are done with him, he will be taken to the county lockup.

Joe Biden on The War on Drugs

It's funny how the Democrats' take on the War on Drugs has changed pver the years.

In 1989 George Bush addressed the nation on new steps he was taking in the war on drugs. Immediately afterward Biden addressed the nation.

Is drug prohibition racist? Many left-wing institutions seem to think so. But their argument is historically illiterate—and it contradicts recent polling data, too, which show that minorities overwhelmingly reject that view.

While the polling data is out of Canada, the Canadian cities have the same drug-induced problems we see in our cities.

And you can see the cultural disparity clearly, if you look at how drug crimes are treated differently worldwide.

Today, Asian and Muslim jurisdictions impose much stiffer penalties on drug offenders than do Western nations. In countries like China, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Singapore, and Thailand, addicts and traffickers are given lengthy prison sentences or executed. Meantime, in Canada and the United States, de facto decriminalization has left urban cores littered with syringes and shrouded in clouds of meth.

Marijuana Is Bad For You

From Dive Medic at Area Ocho we get the following update on 21st Century drug use. Practice Pearls. I imagine the fact that the stuff today is so much stronger that what was grown decades ago isn't helping.

Ever since Florida legalized medical marijuana, those of us who work in the emergency department have seen an alarming uptick in people coming in with complaints of nonstop vomiting. If you ask, they will usually admit to you that they smoke marijuana. Those who won’t admit it always show it on toxicology screens.

I'm not sure about I you, but I wouldn't want to take a drug where one of the side effects is nonstop vomiting.

Since people are frequently dishonest about marijuana use, its impossible to know for sure, but among people who DO admit to frequent use of cannabis, between 35 and 45 percent report frequent vomiting. This is in line with my personal experience- nearly two thirds of those who come in with vomiting complaints test positive for weed, as opposed to about ten percent of general teen and adult patients.

Yeah. No thanks.

The problem is complicated by the fact that marijuana users don't believe that weed is what is causing the problem, so they won't stop using it. "You're lying because you hate weed! Joe at the dispensary told me that it is completely harmless!" Or something. (Hat tip to Miguel Gonzalez)
