Is NYC the Rat Capital of America?

They outlawed rat poison recently, so I wouldn't be surprised. Mayor Adams’ NYC anti-rat garbage collection plan flops with building supers: ‘It’s not gonna make a difference’

The city is making a few changes, but I'm surprised that garbage isn't in containers, but just in plastic bags. I suppose that would cause other problems.

Under the new regulations, trash from residential and commercial buildings can’t be placed on curbs for pickup until 8 p.m., pushed back from the current 4 p.m. start time, Adams said in a news conference at City Hall.

In addition, the Sanitation Department will continue collecting 25% of the city’s trash on overnight shifts while most New Yorkers are asleep — all with an aim to shave the number of hours garbage sits on the sidewalks for rats to feast on, Adams said.

There is more insanity on what NYC is doing about rats. It adds up to, "Not much."

Here's a newer article that has some data. NYC plagued with large increase in rat sightings: report

More than 21,500 sightings were reported to the Big Apple's 3-1-1 service request line between Jan. 1 and Sept. 30.

That number has risen by 18,601 rat calls from last year.

More sightings were reported in April of this year than were reported in all of 2021.

And rats are a real problem. (From one year ago.) THEY SAID RAT POISON WAS RACIST. NOW NEW YORKERS ARE DYING OF RAT DISEASES

On Earth Day, New York City’s leftist environmentalists succeeded in pushing through a ban on rat poison. The ban on efforts to fight rat infestations in city parks was championed by The Black Institute, founded by former ACORN boss Bertha Lewis, claiming that rat poison was racist.

Now people are dying.

Over a dozen New Yorkers contracted leptospirosis and are suffering from liver and kidney failure. One of them is already dead. The symptoms of leptospirosis include fever, aches, and jaundice. Even those who survive can end up with brain damage.

That is a fairly common disease in the 3rd World. Now it seems to be taking hold in NYC.
