I'm Shocked - Shocked! - That No One Wants Gay Superhero Comics

They especially don't want classic superheroes turned gay. After comic-book readers rejected bi-Superman, DC tried again with a gay Green Lantern. The results were the same. | Not the Bee

Politics is downstream from culture, and conservatives abandoned pop culture (which is actually culture) to the Left. "It isn't important." "It's only [fill in the non-sporting-event cultural thing]." Movies. TV shows. Comics. Music. Conservatives were busy with IMPORTANT things. Now they wonder whey the politics is so screwed up.

The only good thing is that DC and Marvel have pushed things so far - starting in comics, but also in movies - that they may have pushed things right over the edge.

So. DC. They started last year with the bisexual superman. No one bought it. It was canceled in (almost) record time. Then DC tried to celebrate Hispanic heritage month. Of course they weren't alone.

Rep. Vincente Gonzales, a Texas Democrat kept calling his opponent, Mayra Flores, was just called "Miss Frijoles." Then there was Jill Biden and her breakfast burritos / Latinx inclusion statement. So DC went right along with that, and included a bunch of covers that included characters eating Mexican food. You can see the covers at that link.

DC Comics has decided to celebrate Hispanic Heritage month, September 15-October 15, by releasing covers of its superheroes eating Hispanic food. [Reference]

But the cover for the Green Lantern was worst, because it took a cover by Jorge Molina, that celebrated the fact that Mr. Molina was of Mexican heritage, and the character, Kyle Reyner, had a Mexican heritage that included a real tribute, and reduced Reyner's heritage to a bag of tamales. And the Left calls other people racists.

And now, DC is trying again by introducing a new gay-Green Lantern title called Green Lantern: Alan Scott. [SNIP]

You might be surprised to learn that sales of the new book were abysmal.

Or maybe not so surprised.

The writer of this travesty, Tim Sheridan, blamed fans for being haters and ists and phobes. And called on all of the alphabet community to please support the book. How could he convince the publishers that there is a market for this stuff, if there is no market for this stuff?

The Comicbook Hub system that tracks sales across random stores did not register the book on its charts … at all.

Sales were all but non-existent.

This won't be the end for Woke DC, just like the box office disaster that is The Marvels won't be the end of Woke Disney/Marvel. I'm convinced that DC will try again with a gay Superman, and a gay Green Lantern, and probably other titles and characters as well. These are not the first that they published, and these are not the first to crash and burn. (Hat tip to IMAO - Sad Trombone: Waah -WAAH.)

I know I've posted this before, but it is still good. The Babylon Bee Podcast video: Leaving DC Comics Over Wokeness | A Bee Interview With Gabe Eltaeb. Gabe Eltaeb is a comic book artist. He was a colorist for DC before the incident he describes in the video.
