Is legal self-defense becoming more common in the Blue Cities, or am I just noticing it more? Police: Man shot dead after forcing his way into Northeast Philly home
How should the law-abiding citizens of Philadelphia react to someone breaking into their homes at about one o'clock in the morning? This incident happened at ten minutes past one.
Investigators believe the shooting happened after the victim forced his way into the home and a struggle ensued with someone inside the property, during which, the man was shot.
Officials said the man -- who police did not immediately provide additional identifying information on -- was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced at about 1:39 a.m.
The cops haven't said that this is self-defense, but then those determinations are made by the District Attorney's office, and I have no understanding of where the current Philadelphia DA stands on the issue of self-defense. The description they provided makes this incident sound like justified self-defense to me, but I'm no lawyer.
Self-defense is a human right, and it just might be your legal right.
