Why Are Families In Denial?

"He is not a bad person," said the grandmother of his daughter. Family of young man suspected of shooting at cops hoping for grace

He was arraigned on felony assault and carjacking charges that were UNRELATED to his shooting at police.

Here's a hint, if you have a relative that is racking up multiple felony charges before he turns 19, he is probably not a "good guy."

An 18-year-old man is behind bars after being charged with shooting at two GRPD officers during a foot chase over the weekend. On Wednesday, the grandmother of his young daughter said he is not a bad person but needs help.

Actually, he sounds like your typical violent criminal and needs to be behind bars, but that is only my opinion.

Self-Defense Is All About Attitude

And as no one is shocked to discover, self-defense is legal in Texas. Sheriff: Fatal Hallsville shooting involving homeowner likely self-defense

Harrison County Sheriff Brandon “B.J.” Fletcher says a fatal shooting Friday near Hallsville involved a homeowner protecting himself from an attempted aggravated robbery.

In this case the would-be bad guy was shot with his own gun. That is attitude.

The homeowner was not arrested, but it is my understanding that all homicides in Texas are referred to a grand jury.

In any case, self-defense is a human right.

NYC Is NOT a Bastion of Tolerance, But a Den of Antisemitism

It doesn't seem like anyone is too incensed by that fact. Jewish teachers at troubled NYC high school receive threatening antisemitic email

Teachers at a Brooklyn high school were victims of another troubling antisemitic act Tuesday when they received a disturbing email calling for the extermination of Jewish people.

The threatening message was sent from an address called “killalljewsnow” to history teacher Danielle Kaminsky and another colleague at Origins HS in Sheepshead Bay — which, as exposed by The Post, has been plagued by shocking displays of antisemitism carried out by students.

Ms. Kaminsky has been forced to hire security, even though the cops in NYC and where she lives are involved.

Students at the high school told The Post on Monday that the string of antisemitic incidents stems from just a “handful of students.”

Two students claimed the unruly group allegedly targets anyone who crosses their path.

“They’re just racist,” a freshman student said.

The bureaucrats and politicians are saying the usual meaningless stuff. The reports of Antisemitism are exaggerated. Mayor Adams says that "we need to do better," but apparently offers no way forward.

The Post publishes some of the things said in the email. I won't repeat them here. Click thru for the disgusting details.

Watch Over You

Alter Bridge is usually a group I feature on Metal for Mondays, but this song just doesn't seem to fit that. While it does get a feeling of Hard Rock towards the end, the first half or so is like a ballad. I know, I've had Power Ballads on Monday, but since I make the rules, I get to break them too.

Alter Bridge is made up of guitarist Mark Tremonti (Creed, Tremonti, etc.), vocalist and rhythm guitarist Myles Kennedy (vocalist for Slash's backing band), bassist Brian Marshall (Creed), and drummer and keyboardist Scott Phillips (Creed).

This band came up on social media recently, so here we are.

I don't think you will need the lyrics, because it is quite easy to understand Myles Kennedy. If you want the lyrics, they can be found in the description of the video on YouTube. Click over there and look at the extended description under "...more."

This song is "Watch Over You" by Alter Bridge, from their 2007 album Blackbird.

Media and the State of the Union Talking Points

I can't stand watching these things. I used to read the transcripts, but I haven't even done that. They mean nothing, especially in an election year. The Other McCain updates on Biden's latest. ‘Fiery’ Is the Official Adjective for Joe Biden’s Angry State of the Union Speech (Because ‘Amped-Up on Adderall’ Wouldn’t Fit in the Headlines)

If ever you suspected the media were a herd of sheep, mindlessly repeating Democratic Party talking points — well, of course, your suspicions were correct, but seldom more clearly than in the way they “reported” Joe Biden’s State of the Union speech (which I didn’t watch, out of concern for my own mental health).

I knew I liked The Other McCain for a reason.

Click thru for the details. I will only include this observation.

Biden campaigned in 2020 claiming that he was going to “unite” the country, and his apparent plan to accomplish this goal is to demonize everybody who didn’t vote for him as un-American traitors.

The typical Democratic position. In my experience, if you disagree with a Democrat on any issue, they will declare you are evil and must be destroyed. They will declare you are stupid and must be relieved of all ability to vote, until they educate (or reeducate) you. If you're a minority they declare that you have internalized the hatred. It goes on. But after you say something that upsets them, they will say that your words are violence, and they will respond with actual violence.

As I said, Read The Whole Thing.

The Beginning of the End for Disney Animation

Alan Ng of Film Threat continues his series documenting the downfall of a once great entertainment company, The Walt Disney Company. This is an interesting series, which is basically documenting how Diversity Equity and Inclusion (the 21st Century's answer to the Reign of Terror's Libery, Equality, Fraternity), is destroying Disney. THE D-FILES PART 4: A SLOW DEATH IN A STRANGE WORLD.

In the last edition of the D-Files, we see that the pieces are now in place to radically change the very foundation of Disney Animation leading up to the Disney 100 Celebration in 2023. After John Lasseter’s firing and with the #MeToo movement in full rage, Jennifer Lee took over Disney Animation with the goal of 50/50 equity in animation. Lee “achieved” her goal by hiring activist artists from social media sites like Tumblr.

The result should have been a happy work environment of diverse male and female artists creating “Disney magic” in perfect harmony. Instead, what Lee created (whether intentional or otherwise) was a toxic work environment of artists walking on eggshells in fear of being outed by Lee’s snitches. For the Veteran Animators (The Old White Guys), they were left with the choice to either quit for mental health reasons, get fired for the most minor infractions, or shut their mouths and keep their heads down to keep their jobs. By the time Raya and the Last Dragon was completed, Lee’s nightmarish team was in place to “reimagine” Disney Animation.

The first animated feature to be produced by this "new and improved" Disney Animation was Raya and the Last Dragon. Critics loved it. It had the first of many Disney Girl bosses in the character of Raya. No man would ever come to her aid, and it seems that all the male characters were emasculated. Anything else would have been to promote the patriarchy. It was a box office dud, which Disney blamed on COVID-19, as it came out in March of 2021.

After Raya and the Last Dragon, came Strange World, and Lightyear, both failed to recoup their production and marketing budgets at the box office. Alan has the details on those films, and a few notes on a couple of others along the way. You should click thru and read the whole thing.

In the next D-Files, we’ll show how Jennifer Lee took it upon herself to sit on Walt’s throne and forge a new legacy for herself and Disney Animation. Also, I made a big mistake in describing the production disaster that was Wish in a way that will surprise you as it did me.

It is a long article, that is worth your time. But you can watch Alan Ng and Chris Gore discussing the article in the Film Threat video THE D-FILES CH. 4: DISNEY'S AGENDA IS NO SECRET OR SUCCESS | Film Threat's The D-Files.

If you are interested in cinema, and want to see how the Woke scolds are destroying Hollywood in General, and Disney in particular I can recommend the entire D-Files series, all by Alan Ng, and a few associated articles. All them can be found at Film Threat.

John Lasseter, mentioned in the "D-Files Part 1" above, was a driving force at Pixar. He directed Toy Story (1995), A Bug's Life (1998), Toy Story 2 (1999), Cars (2006), and Cars 2 (2011). He was executive producer on everything that came out of Pixar thru 2018.

Was Nikki Haley's Presidential Bid a CIA Psyop?

The Other McCain gives us the best explanation I've seen. Super Thursday Thoughts: ‘Republican’ Nikki Haley’s ‘Presidential Campaign’ Was Actually a CIA Operation, and Is America Ready for the Angry Joe Biden Show?

If you say that she wasn't working on some bizarre CIA operation, then you have to believe that she thought she could win, even after she lost her home state. No one is that stupid, not even the Never Trump crowd.

Trump was nearing 60% support from Republican primary voters in the Real Clear Politics average, more than 45 points ahead of his nearest competitor. Well, polls aren’t necessarily predictions, but then Trump won Iowa and New Hampshire, after which point the only other candidate in the field was Nikki Haley. After she got stomped in her home state of South Carolina, it was clearly time for her to quit, but she didn’t.

Why? Given that she had zero chance to win the Republican nomination, why did Nikki Haley keep campaigning? My answer: Because she wasn’t actually running for president. Her entire campaign was a charade, an elaborate psyop planned and controlled by the CIA.

As The Other McCain notes, she has never denied that she works for the CIA, and this makes as much sense as thinking she was going to win the nomination. Maybe it makes more sense.

Click thru for the glorious snark and a few shots at CNN.

EVs Release MORE Toxic Emissions Than Gas Cars

But but they told me that my coal-powered EV was better than your gas-powered car. EVs release more toxic emissions, are worse for the environment: study

I'm shocked that people would be lying about - or not know about - all the effects of electric vehicles on the environment.

It found that brakes and tires on EVs release 1,850 times more particle pollution compared to modern tailpipes, which have “efficient” exhaust filters, bringing gas-powered vehicles’ emissions to new lows.

Today, most vehicle-related pollution comes from tire wear.

As heavy cars drive on light-duty tires — most often made with synthetic rubber made from crude oil and other fillers and additives — they deteriorate and release harmful chemicals into the air, according to Emission Analytics.

I just love it when politicians think they know engineering, and so mandate the use of certain tech.

The bureaucrats are also doubling down, of course. (And it isn't because they have all heavily invested in electric cars!)

Things Used to Just Work

Clare Coffey at The New Atlantis brings us the following. Things Used to Work in This Country: An appliance used to be a machine. Now it’s a bureaucracy.

Okay, so she admits to being a bit technologically challenged. She makes several good points about the longevity of the things we build.

I take it as a vote of confidence that I will never be enough of a nerd (sorry, sorry: high-IQ techno-optimist) to think that syncing the smart refrigerator to the smart TV to the Alexa is a good use of any human being’s limited time on this earth. I like the way simple, sturdy machines unite generations rather than dividing them — because they are capable of being passed down, because their interfaces are built off broad intuitions about a limited range of actions (turn knob, push button), and because they can be mastered via direct experimentation that will not immediately take you down a hopeless rabbit hole of arcana and administration.

The whole thing is worth your time.

Gun Control Advocates versus Armed Teachers

The Utah legislature wants to arm teachers and other school staff to respond to a school shooting. Gun control advocates most affected. Utah governor mulls measure that would fund firearms training for teachers

The title to the article that was posted to the web search (not Google) was "Gun control advocates urge Utah governor to veto bill funding firearms training for teachers." That is what caught my eye, and it is basically what the article is about.

Gun violence prevention advocates who gathered Monday at the Utah State Capitol called on Gov. Spencer Cox to veto legislation that they said could place children in harm's way by training more teachers to carry firearms on campus.

The bill funding tactical training for Utah educators who want to defend their classrooms with guns received final legislative approval last week when the Republican-controlled House voted along party lines to send it to the governor's desk.

Are there problems with the legislation? Certainly not the least is this bit.

Teachers participating in the program who choose not to carry the gun on their person would be required to store it in a biometric gun safe, which uses unique biological data such as a fingerprint or retinal scan to verify the owner’s identity. They would have to pay out of pocket for the storage device.

That provision is a mistake, because those devices have been shown over and over to, for the most part, be junk. There was just a recall of a large number of inexpensive safes, and a few expensive ones as well, that were found to offer almost no security. Plus there is the fact that any safe can be opened. Most gun safes (which are legally classified as "residential security containers") can be opened in under 15 minutes, and even a lot of Class B commercial safes can be opened in under 30.

The problem, from the gun controllers point of view, is that if teachers actually stop school shootings, there will no blood for them to dance in.
