Cops haven't caught up with her yet.

Calling 911 is a fine thing to do, but it won't always work out the way it was advertised to you. You might want to have a Plan B of some kind.

People listened to the lamestream media. Orange Man Bad. And the fake news of Russia, Russia, Russia. And this is what we have.

But there are no mean tweets, which in the end, is what they voted for.

Electricity Is Still Out in Louisiana

Edwards said the electrical infrastructure needs reinforcement, but there are limitations.

People always say "You should bury the cables underground." But those people have apparently never looked at map of southern Louisiana. There is more water than ground, and while you can run electrical cables through water, it isn't quite as easy as when you buried a cable to run electricity to your garden shed.

The lack of power is so unbearable that New Orleans on Saturday began sending electricity-deprived people to powered shelters in northern Louisiana and Texas. The new shuttle program picks up people from the city convention center by charter bus.

There have been heat advisories in Louisiana; the first one hit the day after the rains stopped. Can you imagine living in southern Louisiana without air-conditioning? I can imagine it, which is why I live in the Midwest, with AC.

“The best lack all conviction”

This is a rambling post, bordering on a rant in a couple of places. I wrote it mostly late last night/early this morning. I did some editing and I probably should do more, but it is what it is.

There has been much written about how things are falling apart, and people expect the start of Civil War 2.0 any time now. You can see it in the hyperbole surrounding the SCOTUS decision to not take up the Texas abortion law. In the political indoctrination in State Schools. In the Woke Military. And in more places than I can count.

I write often, and read more often, about how basic constraints of civilization of falling away. In large US cities, law and order is a thing of the past, with murders, and shootings and carjackings, and more a daily occurrence.

One of the things I am reminded of, these days, is "The Second Coming" by W. B. Yeats - Poems | Academy of American Poets

I won't quote the whole thing, but here is the section that usually gets a mention.

Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.

That isn't even one stanza.

I have so little faith in the people running this country at various levels that stocking up on long shelf-life food and other prepper-lite protections seems to me, for the first time in my adult life, to be one of the least crazy ideas.

You might say that "innocence" is being drowned.

So someone went from "Preppers are crazy for assuming that [Fill in the blank] can happen to America; we are immune to [Fill in the blank]," to "Preppers are NOT crazy," in a relatively short period in time.

But are we really prepared for the worst? I'm not. I survived the first few weeks of the COVID lockdown without a problem, and I didn't even have to tap into my long-term supplies. And that is not the end of lockdowns. Just look at the insanity that is ruling Australia. (And I have more long-term and mid-tern supplies than I did in March of 2020.)

And I have to say that I do see that the worst are full of passionate intensity. Antifa is perfectly happy to burn as much as they can, to burn everything down. Teachers are doing their best to overturn everything about this country and replace it with Communism. The prosecutors in the big cities are on a crusade to destroy The Criminal Justice System and see anarchy reign in the streets of America.

It’s hard to decide which part of the video is most revolting.

Is it the sucker punch that sends a man slamming to the pavement? Maybe it’s the vultures who rob two men — even taking their shoes — as they lie injured in the middle of State Street? Perhaps it’s the group of women who start twerking in the traffic lanes while the men are being victimized steps away?

If you only watch the first 6 minutes of the video, you will see two politicians run scared, and the second says his policy is to "Never answer questions from Rebel News." Why? Because Rebel News is not part of their Pet Media, who will only ask softball questions, that don't challenge anything. Rebel News asks tough questions, that require real answers. Geldingadalir Volcano in Iceland — 21 august 2021

Iceland's newest volcano, Geldingadalir, broke through the earth's crust on March 19th of this year.

It has been fascinating. I haven't posted about it because, while volcano's are interesting, they are really not the focus of this blog. Even though I've written about them in the past. Really. Not. The focus.

The current state of the volcano seems to be quiescent. (I am always looking in the rearview mirror.) But the pattern of tremors indicates that it may pick up again soon. Unlike the weather, I think they are getting fairly good at predicting volcanoes.

The video embedded below is of the collapse of the exterior basement wall, and the inundation of the living space. It is hard to see anything in the video, and the news story doesn't cover many details aside from the reaction of the family, but it appears to have been a concrete block wall. It got pushed off the footers by the pressure of the water, and the basement filled, to within about 4 inches of the ground floor, before the occupants could get out.

District attorneys across the Big Apple last year declined to prosecute accused felons at nearly twice the rate of 2019 — letting more than 6,500 suspects off the hook, The Post has learned.

Prosecutors dropped all charges in 16.9 percent of the 38,635 felony cases that were closed in New York City during 2020, according to data compiled by the state Division of Criminal Justice Services.

That rate was 8.7 percent and averaged 8 percent from 2016 through 2019.

The DAs have their reasons/excuses and maybe even one of them is good. (Disclosure rules in the event a plea is taken changed by law thanks to Cuomo and Company, putting witnesses at risk in some cases.)

But the real answer is easier to guess.

“The DAs are worried about getting re-elected,” the source said.

“Plus, you throw in a bucket of ‘woke’ and no one is getting prosecuted.”

A Spatula Won't Do Much Good in a Fight

An unhinged man was allegedly trying to break into a moving car in The Bronx on Monday night when he was stopped in his tracks by a group of witnesses who delivered him a beating.

As three bystanders treated the bleeding man’s injury, a woman in a leopard print dress walked up and shot the victim again at point-blank range in his back, according to Auguste. Once again, the shooting was captured by surveillance cameras.

Now, she may have been justified in firing the first round (he was clearly acting like a threat), but shooting a man in the back, when he is lying on the ground, is not justified. Ever.

Gomez is charged with attempted first-degree murder and aggravated battery by discharging a firearm.

But that is the state of civilization in Chicago.

Auguste said the second bullet entered the victim’s back, lacerated his liver, and exited through his abdomen. The man underwent surgery and is still hospitalized.

Snarky Puppy is a band I ran across recently. I should have known about them before, but as a friend of mine was telling me recently, it is hard to find new music if it isn't in a genre you are actively listening too. And Fusion has never quite been my thing. Though today's song really sounds more like Jazz to me.

I found Snarky Puppy because of the work Larnell Lewis did with the band. Or some of it anyway. Lewis is a great drummer who I stumbled across because of some non-Snarky-Puppy work he had done. When I went look for more music he was involved with, Snarky Puppy was high on the list.

One of the reviews of the We Like It Here sessions mentioned that it reminded the reviewer of the Live Evil album by Miles Davis. I haven't listened to Live Evil in a long time, but after reviewing a few songs the other day, I have to agree to a point. Though there is a more modern album it reminds me of, I just can't dredge it out of memory. I got rid of all my old vinyl when I moved aboard my boat all those years ago. So I don't have the Jazz albums to review. I guess I will have to start in on the Spotify catalog.

OK, stop right there! How the heck is this deranged woman driving a BMW? There is something deeply wrong in this world, when I’m driving a battered old Nissan while a dangerous lunatic who ought to be in a mental institution is driving a luxury SUV. But never mind that . . .

When she hit the same deputy with her SUV a second time, another deputy shot her.

On the 11th of August, police confronted Marty Focker for allegedly being further than 5km from his home.

Mr Focker was in the city filming the protest activity to upload online.

Once arrested and police thought the cameras were off, the officers begin conspiring to "trump-up charges" against Mr Focker.
