On May 11th, a crack was found in a critical member of the I-40 bridge that connects Memphis, Tennessee with West Memphis, Arkansas. It was immediately closed to traffic, causing major problems for the region.
The video is pretty good at explaining why this is a critical issue, and
Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) released a drone video from 2 years ago showing the initial stage of the crack forming. (The section of the video is at 8 minutes and 57 seconds in.)
My initial post on this incident is at the following link. A Bridge That Didn't Collapse. It has a couple of the images released when the crack in the bridge was initally discovered.
This is the video for "What Really Happened at the Hernando de Soto Bridge?" from Practical Engineering.
