A homeless trans man was shot and killed by an armed guard in Walgreens. The guard was arrested, but then released.

More than a hundred activists gathered on Market near Powell, at the Walgreens where Brown was shot dead. There, they blocked access on the sidewalk, spoke out, and demanded change from Walgreens and from the city.

They didn't ask why no charges were filed, they are sure that it is discrimination, or something.

The man accused of shooting Brown, Michael-Earl Wayne Anthony, 33, who was in jail and expected to be formally charged with homicide on Tuesday, was unexpectedly released from jail on Monday. District Attorney Brooke Jenkins' office declined to file charges. Meanwhile, KTVU has learned SFPD is looking at a self-defense claim.

The liberals in SF won't stand for that. Not only should the homeless be able to steal anything they want, they should be able to attack people with impunity. Or something. And whatever the Libs in SF think, self-defense is a human-right.

Egypt Is Pissed at Netflix Over Blackwashing Cleopatra

Imagine how Jada Pinkett Smith would feel if someone were to make a "documentary" about Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr. and cast a white actor. That is pretty much how the government of Egypt is reacting over her casting of a black actress to play Cleopatra.

But Egypt’s Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities argued that the documentary nature of the feature “requires those in charge of its production to investigate accuracy and rely on historical and scientific facts.”

Coins and statues from the time show a light-skinned woman, in keeping with Cleopatra's Macedonian Greek ancestry, it argued.

And while Smith admitted that she wanted to see "Black Queens" on TV and in movies, she decided to screw around with other people's history, and they don't care for that.

One of Egypt’s most famous archaeologists and twice-serving antiquities minister, Zahi Hawass, was adamant: Cleopatra was not Black.

“If we see statues and forms of her father and brother, we will not find any evidence supporting this claim that she was black,” he said in a statement.

Hawass added that Egypt at the time of Cleopatra’s reign ruled over the Kingdom of the Kush, also known as Nubia, in what is now Sudan and southern Egypt, with its distinctive Black African culture. “But they have no connection with the Pharaonic civilization,” he said.

But never say that the Woke Scolds (who were all about 'Trust the Science' when they liked the science) would trust to history. They hate history, and so they lie.

How Is That Bail Reform Working Out

Prosecutors said on Saturday that a Chicago man fatally shot one victim and tried to kill another on March 4 while he was on bail for a pending felony aggravated battery case.

Jelen Lee, 21, is the sixth person accused of killing or trying to kill someone in Chicago this year while awaiting trial for a felony. The cases involve nine victims, five of whom died.

Reporter Seems Surprised that Self-defense Is a Thing

I suppose it could be that Matthew Esnayra, the reporter in question, doesn't have much faith in his readers, even though self-defense has a long tradition in the state of Washington.

Cowlitz County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested two Longview men last week in connection to a shooting at a residence near Kelso’s Riverside Park.

Two men allegedly assaulted the shooter, who said he acted in self defense. The reported attackers were arrested, not the shooter.

Yes, self-defense is legal. You haven't committed a crime if you shoot someone who is attacking you, not even in Deep Blue Washington state. Not yet, anyway.

In this case they walked up to his car, opened the driver's door and started assaulting him.

It turned out to be a failure of the victim-selection process, because he was armed.

And there is video evidence backing up his claim of self-defense.

The guy who got shot was taken to a local hospital, and then to county lockup. The other guy went straight to lockup, once police caught up with them.

Self-defense is a human-right.

When we talk about crime-riddled cities, Chicago, New York and Philadelphia get a lot more attention than St. Louis, but on a per-capita basis, crime is much worse in St. Louis, which regularly leads New Orleans and Baltimore as the most violent major city in America. Alas, so many people have fled St. Louis in recent decades that it almost doesn’t qualify as a “major” city now, with fewer than 300,000 residents. (Henderson, Nevada, Greensboro, North Carolina, and Irvine, California, are all bigger than St. Louis now.)

He Was Stopped by an Armed Citizen

And the police pursuit didn't hurt. Robbery suspect shot 8 times by store clerk after fleeing from Palm Coast to Georgia

He robbed a convenience store in Flagler County, Florida, of $90, and took off heading for Georgia. Because of a detailed F*c*book post, the police knew where he was headed. Florida Highway Patrol, and St. Johns County sheriffs pursued him into Georgia.

Once Jordan got to Georgia, the Camden County Sheriff’s Office took over the pursuit, and the Kingsland Police Department put out "stop sticks" on I-95 and the vehicle came to a halt. Jordan then fled on foot.

He entered a nearby convenience store, brandished a firearm, and demanded the clerk’s car keys. He then took the clerk’s vehicle and started to flee but somehow managed to crash the vehicle through the front of the convenience store.

But by that time the store clerk had retrieved a weapon of his own, so when the bad-guy came back in the store, he was prepared.

He then got out of the vehicle and chased the clerk and a customer through the store and a struggle ensued. But the clerk, who was now armed, shot the suspect "approximately eight times," according to Georgia authorities. He was taken into custody and transported to a hospital in critical condition.

The Weekend in Chicago

We haven't looked at the crime in Chicago for a minute... HeyJackass! has the stats: Don't Demonize Weekend

We were told not to "demonize" the youths causing mayhem downtown. Because they didn't have enough support in their neighborhoods, jumping on cars and attacking couples in the Loop was only to be expected. Or something.

The good news is Kim Foxx has decided to not run for another term. The bad news is she will be around for another 20 months including for the upcoming Summer of Joy 2.

Cooler temperatures, and bit of rain on Saturday afternoon helped to hold the numbers down. The weekend total (noon Friday until 6 AM Monday) was 5 killed, 27 shot and wounded. That was enough that if it was before the election, the powers-that-were would be screaming crime is down, and those numbers are considerable better than the same weekend the past few years.

There Will Be No Justice in Philadelphia Shootings

Three dead, one injured. They will be sentenced to 5 or 6 years in detention. 2 teens arrested in Philly quadruple shooting that killed 3 teens

Police identified them only as 15- and 16-year-old males and said they have been charged with violation of the Uniform Firearms Act and related offenses.

Though to be fair, it isn't clear that the two were the shooters. They may have only been involved in taking the injured kid to the hospital. (Someone needs a lecture on "Clarity, Brevity, and Completeness.")

So either they have juvenile offenders who will be sentenced to no time for murder, or they have nothing.

A New York Democrat blamed "institutional misogyny" as she resigned from her government leadership position in the wake of accusations a staffer tried to solicit someone he thought was an underaged girl.

Westchester County Board of Legislators Chair Catherine Borgia stepped down on Friday under pressure from colleagues who said she failed to act when she was told in December that the staffer was caught on video by a vigilante group that tricked him into thinking he was meeting a 14-year-old.

Protecting a very bad guy wasn't what she was forced out over. It was "institutional misogyny." Of course it was. She's a victim, not a horrible person.

In Florida, Golf is Apparently a Contact Sport

Definitely something in the water. Golfers get chippy over foursome's slow pace of play, throwing wild kicks and punches on Florida course

Members of one group started barking at another because of their pace of play. However, the foursome getting the mouthful said there wasn’t much they could do, blaming their slowness on the group ahead of them.

Shouts turned into a kick, and then punches.

I never liked golf, but it - like so many things - used to be civilized. No longer.

Strangely enough this article doesn't include the phrase "Florida Man." I'm sure that is an oversight on someone's part. It is definitely Peak Florida, at least for today.

The Disney/Lucasfilm Trial for the Murder of Star Wars

On May 3rd Disney/Lucasfilm will be tried for crimes against Fandom.

Bob Iger, Bob Chapek, Kathleen Kennedy, and a cast of thousands took what was arguably the most lucrative franchise to ever come out of Hollywood, and turned it into a string of TV shows on a streaming service that no one can be bothered to watch. They abandoned storytelling in favor of identity politics.

Court will be in session, each Wednesday at 1PM PST over the next several weeks, beginning May 3rd.

Film Threat is an interesting podcast. Chris Gore and Alan Ng are two of the only film critics whose reviews of movies I trust. In fact I am planning on seeing the Finnish film Sisu based on his recommendation. Here's a link to the red band trailer for that film.

The Last in Line

I wasn't listening to Heavy Metal in the mid 1980s. Post Punk was everywhere, and then I slid into the early days of my clubbing phase, where various flavors of Electronica and House Music were the thing. But there was some decent music produced in that era.

The band Dio was formed by Ronnie James Dio, formerly of Black Sabbath. The band name was chosen mostly because the Metal crowd knew that name, so it was a leg-up from a commercial success standpoint. There have been numerous personnel changes over the years. For the album in question, the musicians were Vivian Patrick Campbell playing guitar (the British have odd ideas about names), Jimmy Bain on bass, Vinny Appice playing drums and percussion, and Claude Schnell playing keyboards, with Ronnie James Dio providing vocals. RJ Dio is listed on the album credits as playing keyboards, but I don't know if that applies to this song or not.

Don't Bring a Hammer to a Gunfight

Tunneling through walls sounds like something from a bad movie. New Mexico store owner shoots, kills burglar tunneling through wall

He was sleeping in his store, because he had been robbed previously.

The owner said he was woken by a strange sound and found that the burglar had tunneled through the wall and began waving a large hammer and a chisel causing the owner to fear for his life, the outlet said.

The would-be bad guy was declared dead at the scene.

Police said they are investigating the incident as a "justifiable homicide" and the owner was released after speaking with detectives.

Cops don't make determinations about charges, but New Mexico does recognize the right to self-defense.

Life in the Blue Cities

So the city opened a "safe drug use" site near a Manhattan subway stop.

The station’s drug crisis “exploded” in the wake of the pandemic, along with the opening of a nearby OnPoint overdose prevention center in late 2021, an MTA cleaner said.

At the “safe injection” site, addicts can get high under medical supervision and are given clean paraphernalia to inject or snort their drug of choice, either on-site or elsewhere.

Elsewhere being the nearby subway station.

The Post recently witnessed a half-dozen junkies injecting themselves there, just a few yards away from parents and elementary school children.

That is what "safe drug use" is.

Many residents said although police regularly patrol the station, they never see any crackdowns on the brazen drug activity.

Why would they, when they know what Manhattan DA Bragg will do, which is nothing?

Bud Light Fallout Not Just "Red and Rural"

Is anyone surprised that pissing off your customer base is not the way to stay in business? Apparently the MBAs don't learn that in business school.

And on a not-completely-unrelated topic, does anyone have a feeling if the recent demise of Bed Bath and Beyond had anything to do with Conservatives abandoning the store? I know there was a lot of talk after the My Pillow kerfuffle, but I was never clear on how that carried through, or if it did. I only ever shopped at Bed Bath and Beyond on very rare occasions. It isn't that they were overpriced - they were on somethings and not on others - it's just that they were inconveniently located.
