Since the homeowner who defended himself was sent to the hospital, I think it is safe to conclude that bit more than "trespassing" was involved.
Friday morning, the 7th of November, police get called to a home about a trespasser. When they get there they find one guy dead, and the homeowner injured.
The victim was also hurt and taken to an area hospital.
So how would you react to an "uninvited guest" at 7 o'clock in the morning?
Self-defense is a human right, and it might be your legal right in California. That is up to the DA.
