The Continuing Decline of Law and Order in Chicago

Crime is on the rise, though the powers that be will claim otherwise. Things are not as bad as they were a couple of years ago, but they are much worse than 20 years ago. People having short memories is good for politicians.

First up: 'Machete man' robbed 2 more people in Avondale on Saturday evening; at least 8 victims since May 27 - CWB Chicago

Avondale’s machete-wielding robber struck two more times on Saturday evening, just hours after police warned about six other hold-ups he has committed since May 27. So far, there have been no injuries reported, and no arrests made.

Next up: 3 more women, including a 77-year-old, are mugged in Lincoln Park as robbery pattern grows

Three more women have been mugged in a small section of Lincoln Park, bring the total number of victims in a days-old robbery pattern to at least nine. And, CWBChicago has learned, the robbers responsible for the crimes also stole an Amazon delivery driver’s car in the same area on Friday. There was a gun inside it.

Lastly: Man is confronted by gunman while walking his dog in Lakeview, police say

The first sign of trouble was near Wellington and Sheridan around 6:45 p.m. A passerby reported seeing two or three teenage boys checking car doors there, one wearing a ski mask. They were accompanied by a beat up Honda Civic with dark window tints, a witness reported.

About five minutes later, a 25-year-old man was walking his dog on the 300 block of West Briar when a heavily damaged silver car pulled up. A male exited from the rear passenger side and pointed a gun at the victim, according to Officer Jessica Rocco, a CPD spokesperson.

With a bonus round of recidivism. Paroled gun offender brought a gun to Department of Corrections “safe neighborhoods” event, prosecutors say.

A man who was recently paroled for being a felon in possession of a firearm was arrested Thursday after he showed up at “Project Safe Neighborhoods,” an Illinois Department of Corrections parolee event, with a gun in his car, prosecutors say. He is being held without bail until the state parole board reviews the developments.
