Today's song was orginally on The Velvet Underground's 1967 debut album The Velvet Underground & Nico. It was written by Lou Reed after he spent time at Andy Warhol's Factory. Lou Reed also did a solo version of this song after leaving The Velvet Undergroud.
This is "All Tomorrow's Parties" by Nico. It was a single in 1982. Actually it was the B-side of "Procession," both of which were recorded with the short-lived Post Punk band The Invisible Girls. I actually like this version more than the original.
I still find it hard to understand how unknown Nico is among the general public. Her solo work might be a bit obscure, but The Velvet Underground (which included Lou Reed), and that debut album in particular, was promoted by Andy Warhol.
