Why Are They Trying to Make Me Feel Sorry for Him?

Because they hate guns and gun owners, they hate self-defense, and they love criminals, that's why. Teen killed Saturday was due to graduate from Arlington High. (I hate opening a new tab when it isn't needed, but they are playing games, so I guess it is needed.)

I covered this story earlier in the week; here's a link. It appears to be a legitimate case of armed self-defense when this "teen," who was a legal-adult at 18-years-old, "advanced" on a homeowner and was shot. That was after he was told to leave.

Saturday in the 19800 block of 106th Ave NE. When he went to investigate, he reported he saw a shirtless stranger in his yard. He opened up his slider next to the backdoor and reportedly told him to leave and that he had a gun, Everett Police Officer Kerby Duncan said. Smith reportedly continued to advance on the homeowner, who was still inside his home.

The homeowner then shot the stranger twice, according to police reports.

The high school senior died.

So. He was trespassing. He presented himself as a threat, even though he was warned the homeowner was armed and given the opportunity to walk awy. Now why am I supposed to feel anything except glad that the homeowner wasn't attacked in his own home?

A young man who was shot and killed Saturday was a high school senior days away from graduation, according to the Arlington School District.

“Todd Smith was due to graduate on Thursday,” district spokesperson Gary Sabol wrote in an email sent to families and staff. “He was known for his sense of humor and will be greatly missed.”

He should have learned not to threaten people, not just how to have a sense of humor. But then how would that make you mad at the evil gun owner?
