Because self-defense is yucky. Cleveland Lyft driver fired for admitting to firing legally-owned gun during attempted carjacking
A Lyft driver has been fired by the ridesharing service after she admitted to firing her legally-owned and licensed gun during an attempted carjacking.
Lyft is not alone. Uber also likes dead drivers. Just like most national pizza chains would rather see dead delivery people than dead criminals.
Our “No Weapons” policy applies when you are doing business as a representative of Lyft, which includes times that you are driving for Lyft, as well as times that you are visiting a Lyft Hub.
This means that even in places where it is legal to carry a weapon, we ask that you do not carry a weapon on any Lyft property.

Why, then they want you to die. And people wonder why I don't like Lyft/Uber/whatever.
Do you doubt that these drivers are being killed? See this link for a story about an Uber driver. But that is the outcome these companies prefer. They like their "associates" (can't call them employees) to be defenseless victims. (Hat tip to Bearing Arms.)
