At some point you have to ask, Whiskey Tango Foxtrot. Sweet 16: Man on “affordable bail” for 15 Rogers Park burglaries is busted again.
A man who has fifteen — fifteen — pending burglary cases is back in custody after police allegedly caught him burglarizing yet another residential building in Rogers Park.
There isn't much doubt as those 15 burglaries were captured on security video. But that doesn't mean we can keep him locked up.
For the 16th burglary - also on video - he is held on $100,000 bail. For violating his release, he is held without bail.
If you make something cheaper, you will see more of it. And from the criminals' point of view, there is little cost to committing crimes in Chicago.
And then Chicago PD is spending time on irrelevant nonsense. You would almost think the powers that be don't care about crime. Dogs Gone Wild! Amid robbery and carjacking spike, CPD deploys tactical unit to tackle leash law violations.
Robberies are up. Carjackings are up. Shooting and murder is up. And where does Chicago PD decide to focus its efforts?
So, with carjackings and robberies and burglaries on the rise, someone at CPD this week decided to have Town Hall tactical officers focus their efforts on — wait for it — dog leash ordinance enforcement at Wrightwood Park, 2534 North Greenview.
But the police department says there are very good reasons for the dog leash crackdown.
Of course there are good reasons. Politics, and distracting people from the real issues.
Robberies are up 138 percent. And as for carjacking... In all of 2019 Chicago saw 603 carjackings. So far in 2020 there have been 947 carjackings, which is higher than the recent peak of 938 in all of 2017.
So of course CPD is spending time and resources on unleashed pets. What else would they do?
