Somehow I Missed this Troll of the Left in September

This is classic trolling. Watchdogs offer $1M for LGBTQ advocacy groups to host Pride parade in Gaza, West Bank

A watchdog group that aims to expose hypocrisy announced Monday that it would donate $1 million to “Queers for Palestine” or any US LGBTQ advocacy organization to host a gay pride parade in Gaza or the West Bank.

Anti-Israel groups such as “Queers for Palestine” have surfaced across America since the Hamas terror group attacked Israel on October 7, but homosexuality remains deeply taboo in the Palestinian territories.

Don't expect anyone to take them up on it anytime soon.

Get Woke, Go Broke - Gaming Edition

From That Park Place we get an update on the latest Woke video Game. 14% Of ‘Dragon Age: The Veilguard’ Physical Retail Orders Reportedly Cancelled Ahead Of Game’s Release, Total Pre-Orders Less Than 200,000

Dragon Age is a series of fantasy role-playing games set in world where magic, and dragons, and various other creatures need to be fought. The latest iteration of the series was released on October 31st. While the legacy media is trying to claim it is great success, people who are actually playing the game are not convinced, and the clips that have been released to YouTube or Twitter/X range from laughable to pure cringe.

YouTuber Endymion revealed that a retail insider shared with him that 956 pre-orders of a total of 6,793 were cancelled of 6,793 or 14%.

You can see what Endymion had to say at this link.

So a source who works in the retail space showed me how many pre orders got cancelled for Dragon Age Veilguard in the last few days. This is from a major store with over 900 locations in America.

He goes on to list the cancellation by platform (Playstation vs XBox), and more.

But back to TPP.

Of note, other estimates indicate that total sales for the game on Steam are less than 500,000. PlayTracker estimates the game has only 163,000 copies. VG Insights has the game at 349,800 copies sold and Gamalytic estimates the game has sold 479,500 copies.

If you assume that 500,000 copies were sold, all of the premium edition, that would mean that BioWare, the Canadian games studio that created Dragon Age, made less than $40,000,000. For a game that has been in development since 2015, that isn't a great return, even if you consider that the development team was occasionally raided to speed work on other BioWare titles. I haven't seen any reliable budget numbers, but people have been saying somewhere in the range of $250 million in development costs.

The CEO of Moon Studios, a competitor to BioWare, had bad things to say about the game. Moon Studios CEO Describes ‘Dragon Age: The Veilguard’ Writing As “Infantile And Terrible”

Moon Studios CEO Thomas Mahler starts by comparing the writing of TV over the past few decades. From the generic happy families of the 1980s, until we got shows that had a more genuine feeling.

“Then, in the late 90s, The Sopranos dropped and suddenly it was clear that TV shows didn’t have to be trash,” he stated. “That the episodic format could actually be used to give even more insight into characters, their trials and tribulations, etc. And it kept going from that point on – We saw more and more TV shows that delivered excellent drama, like The Wire, Breaking Bad, etc., etc.”

He then turned his attention to Dragon Age: The Veilguard and video games, “Looking at games now, it’s clear to see that we’re apparently moving back to the stone age of political correctness. I just watched a Dragon Age playthrough and it’s quite unfathomable how infantile and terrible the writing is. Everything feels sanitized and dehumanized.”

Yes, video games are created by corporations, and teams of people. So are movies and TV shows. They are still an art form. Storytelling should still be an art, and it should still come first.

“I hate to sound so harsh because I’m sure these people had the best intentions in mind, but this is what happens when art is created by amateurs, when we have to walk on eggshells and don’t dare to approach difficult subjects – you end up with a bland and bad product instead of art,” he continued.

The the case of the new Dragon Age game, what there is apparently a lot of, is gender identity. Much time is given to a companion character who declares that they are non-binary. There is even a scene in which they tell their mother, and another scene where players are lectured about how to apologize for misgendering someone. In a fantasy, role-playing game. As you can see from the copies sold numbers, this is not going over very well.

Gun Hating Democrats Hate Guns

And so they issue a call for more gun laws, of course. Chicago police Officer Enrique Martinez killing sees felon charged with using a switch-equipped machine gun - Chicago Sun-Times

Putting people who commit actual crimes in jail? That's not fair! Not to mention that the non-prosecutors in Chicago tend to not charge the gun crimes‡ in a lot of cases.

See the previous post on Officer Enrique Martinez, who was killed in the line of duty.

A convicted felon was charged Wednesday in the deadly shooting of Chicago police Officer Enrique Martinez that erupted during a traffic stop earlier this week in Chatham on the South Side and also claimed the life of the vehicle’s driver.

Crimesha, AKA Illinois State's Attorney for Cook County, and Chicago, Kim Foxx, showed up at the press conference announcing the charges to push for national gun control.

I will let Second City Cop comment on that.

No, you useless fuckwit. We need actual punishment for crimes and truth in sentencing where twenty years means twenty-fucking years. Thank god you'll be gone by the time this goes to trial.

Twenty years in Illinois is usually ten years, because they all get "time off for good behavior." I'm not sure if they actually have to display good behavior or not. But most don't serve close to the time sentenced.

Aside from first-degree murder, this is what this guy was charged with:

McMillian also faces felony counts of attempted murder of a police officer, burglary, possession of a machine gun and possession of a gun as a felon, Snelling said.

So its illegal for a felon to have a gun. Machine guns are illegal in a whole other sense. Not to mention murder, and burglary.

I wonder what laws Kim Foxx thinks would have stopped this guy. Probably outlawing all guns for law-abiding citizens.

‡ There was a recent case, where two people were killed by a guy who had his gun charges dropped in 2017. Why? Because putting people in jail is not fair, according to The Criminal Justice System (so called) in Chicago. How fair do you think it was his two victims and their families?

Officer Enrique Martinez, Chicago PD

End of Watch. Suspect released in slaying of Chicago police Officer Enrique Martinez, another remains in custody - Chicago Sun-Times

Because Chicago, and the State of Illinois, no longer believes in the concept of Law and Order.

A suspect in the killing of Chicago police Officer Enrique Martinez was released without charges Tuesday evening — a day after a traffic stop in Chatham devolved into a high-powered shooting that also killed a passenger in the vehicle that was being curbed.

As for the officer who died.

Speaking outside the hospital, [Police Superintendent Larry] Snelling said Martinez “was a proud individual, very hardworking, and he gave his life for the city.”

The slain Gresham District officer would have marked three years on the job in December.

More on this story in a bit.

Don't Bring a Knife to a Gunfight

Another breakdown of the victim-selection process. Victim uses firearm to stop knife attack in North Haven

Police said at around 11:35 a.m., Obadiah Claud, 45, charged the victim with a knife and the victim took out his legally possessed gun to try to stop the attack.

When confronted with resistance, he jumped in his car, and fled.

North Haven, Connecticut is a few miles north of New Haven.

Cops arrested Claud a short time later.

Claud was charged with threatening in the second degree, illegal possession of a deadly weapon, and breach of peace in the second degree.

I will give this journalist credit for one thing. They were able to correctly identify who is the victim. I wonder if they would have gotten it right if the bad guy had been shot. (That usually confuses journalists.) I'm also a bit shocked that they covered this story at all, since no one was shot. I don't believe anyone was stabbed. The gun-hating part of the Left usually ignores stories like this.

Self-defense is a human right, and it might be your legal right in Connecticut. (Hat tip to Concealed Nation)

Trump Elected - Germans Most Impacted

Or that seems to be how the Germans feel anyway. There are many stories, but I will limit myself to one. Well OK, this story links to a few others.

If you're ever curious about what is going in across the pond, you can do a lot worse than start with Deutsche Welle: 'The nightmare': Germany's media react to Trump's victory

An opinion poll held days before the vote found that 74% of Germans supported Kamala Harris whereas only 11% supported Trump.

I always find the asymmetry fascinating. Europeans are heavily invested in American politics, while Americans can't tell you who is in charge of Germany, or France, or the UK, let alone Poland or Slovenia.

Can you imagine running an opinion poll in the US and asking the man in the street how they feel about the candidates in an upcoming German elections?

The election was seen as a referendum on issues like migration and economic policy at home, but also pivotal for geopolitical issues around the world.

Germany's most widely-read tabloid Bild said the election outcome was "the last warning signal for our government" as it attempts to overcome voters' grievances similar to those in the US.

Which is why the government and the media are so opposed to what Americans have said we, as a whole, want.

Well, and they are looking at the very real possibility that they will actually have to start paying for their own national defense.

Weekly newspaper Die Zeit also ran an article with a single, uncensored English word as its headline: "F---."

Die Ziet, unlike Deutsche Welle, doesn't translate their content into English, and yet they had one word of English as their headline.

What is really going on? The media, which is the PR branch of globalism, like the World Economic Forum, is pissed off that people are no longer listening to them.

Don't Bring a Knife to a Gunfight

He invaded two homes, and stabbed one person in each home. Then his luck ran out. Iberia Parish sheriff: Arrest made in Thursday home invasions, stabbings

Maybe it was just Casey Meaux's way of celebrating Halloween.

One victim was stabbed at each house. The sheriff’s office said that Meaux was shot in the chest by the homeowner of the second house during the alleged invasion.

Iberia Parish, Louisiana is about 10 miles south of Lafayette, or about 85 miles due west of New Orleans. It is home to the famous Tabasco factory of hot sauce fame. (See the map below.)

And once again the Professional Journalists™ manage to sort out who is the victim, and who is not.

The victims and Meaux were taken to area hospitals for treatment.

The bad guy was arrested at the hospital.

Casey Meaux is facing two counts of home invasion and two counts of attempted first-degree murder, according to the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office. A mugshot was not available of Meaux on Friday due to him being in hospital care, the sheriff’s office said.

There is no word on what started Casey Meaux on his violent escapade. Maybe we can just chalk it up to "Crazy people are dangerous."

California Has Become a Place of Hate

I thought California was the land of tolerance and peace, but then it is popular on the Left to hate Jews, and the business in this case was run by Palestinians. Jewish family ousted from California coffee house over Star of David hat - Washington Examiner

“This is one of the most clear-cut cases of anti-Jewish discrimination I have ever seen in the Bay Area,” Jeremy Russell of the Jewish Community Relations Council told Henry K. Lee, a crime reporter with KTVU.

The cops are also either anti-Jew haters, or sadly ignorant of the law. Or maybe the powers-that-be have decided that Palestinian views on Jews should be codified by the government.

KTVU also cited David Levine, a professor at the University of California College of the Law, San Francisco, who stated that “to deny somebody service in a place of public accommodation on the basis of what here sure looks like religion, national origin and the like, is simply not allowed under state laws.”

Levine is likely referring to the Unruh Civil Rights Act, which “provides protection from discrimination by all business establishments in California,” including restaurants.

People You Know, Threats and Self-Defense

The Left loves to go on at length about how if you own a gun, you are more likely to shoot someone you know, than a complete stranger. There are reasons for that. POLICE: Suspect shot, injured after breaking into family home | CBS19

And also, people in Texas are armed. You might say that they are heavily armed.

A 38-year-old man was hospitalized after police say he was shot while forcing his way into a family member's home Friday night.

Longview, Texas is about 60 miles west of Shreveport, Louisiana, and about 110 miles east of Dallas.

It started earlier in the day, as a fight between family members. He wanted to have the last word, but I'm guessing this isn't how he planned for things to turn out.

He was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, and charges are currently pending.

So yes, you are more likely to need to defend yourself from someone you know, or even a family member. The category of people that can be described as "someone you know" is quite large. A disgruntled ex-employee, the creepy guy from your favorite coffee shop, and ex-boyfriend or ex-girlfriend turned stalker, etc. The statistic that the Left loves to throw around isn't the win they think it is.

Research Fraud Costs Hundreds-of-Millions-of-Dollars

A lot of that fraud is paid for by tax dollars, though not all. Research fraud, Alzheimer's, and Mortality trends

This is a podcast episode by Mary Pat Campbell that covers a bit of fraud. There are also a bunch of links to other articles, one of which has the $247 million dollar number, that was the amount spent on a particular branch of Alzheimer's research, all of which was kicked off by a single paper, that was eventually was retracted due to falsification of research data.

That was one branch of research. The whole problem may be close to $1 billion in scope.

Prominent research in Alzheimer’s disease going back for decades has been found to be fraudulent, which has effects. Alzheimer’s disease has been a cause of death with an increasing age-adjusted death rate, and it’s one of the very few causes of death with a rate that’s higher for females than males (at all ages). How has this come about? And what should be done?

It took 22 years to have some of the bogus research retracted. 22 years during which the fraud stood, and grew.

There is more, and I can recommend clicking thru and listen to the 30 minute audio. (I listened at 1.25X and for a time at 1.5X normal speed.)

This is not new, and not restricted to medical research, but it is a problem. The image below is an excerpt from the 2023 Nobel laureate Katalin Kariko's book, Breaking Through.

Is Cincinnati PD the New Chicago PD?

In other words, is it completely insane, riddled with corruption, and spending money without regard for anything? Though in Chicago's case, the excess spending is more about insane amounts of overtime right now.

Cincinnati is not really a big city. It is only the third-largest city in Ohio, behind Cleveland and Columbus. You know about Cincinnati because of the pro sports teams, The Reds, and The Bengals. (What is the third largest city in Indiana, or in Nebraska?) $500,000 is a lot of money for a city the size of Cincinnati.

The police chief has decided that instead of honoring a business decision to send all 5-year-old service weapons back to Smith and Wesson for a discount on their replacements, they will instead destroy all of the service weapons, and buy new. I'm not sure why they think service weapons, most of which get used only at their yearly qualification (I'm assuming that Cincinnati PD has to do a yearly firearm qualification - I know it is dangerous to do so) need to be replaced every 5 years, but then I'm not a bureaucrat, and I know a little about firearms.

This is the Liberty Doll video Activist Cops Cost Taxpayers $500K

On the subject of Cincinnati Police she has the following to say:

People that have no problem enforcing unconstitutional laws, that arrest journalists for filming crime scenes, that arrested people for not social distancing in 2020, have officers drunk driving with expired plates, people dying of stab wounds during SWAT raids, arrest people for filming them during arrests, and also allegedly threatening to shoot them for filming, have officers involved in Narcotics money laundering schemes at nightclubs, and have 56-year-old officers using the police data system to get the phone numbers of 19-year-old women, are talking about not trading in their Department weapons and choosing to spend an extra $500,000 of taxpayer money because they're worried about "moral consistency."

Liberty Doll has the receipts for all of those instances. Watch the video.

Faster

Within Temptation is a Dutch (don't worry - they sing in English) Symphonic Metal band. It was started in 1996 by lead singer Sharon den Adel and guitarist Robert Westerholt. I love the fact that he worked in Human Resources before his music took off. (He got to quit his day job.) Though he only does studio playing, he is the band's main composer.

As for the rest of the band, Ruud Jolie plays lead guitar, Stefan Helleblad plays rhythm guitar, Mike Coolen is the drummer, Martijn Spierenburg is the keyboardist, and Jeroen van Veen plays bass guitar.

While I never have trouble understanding Sharon den Adel, here is a link to the lyrics.

This is "Faster" by Within Temptation from their 2011 album The Unforgiving.
