Austin police responded to a report of a burglary at a home in the 200 block of Virtus Bend just before 4 a.m.
When officers arrived, they found 24-year-old Dmario Antonie Jones with gunshot wounds. EMS attempted life-saving measures, but Jones was pronounced dead at the scene at 4:10 a.m.
How would you respond to an uninvited guest at 4 o'clock in the morning?
A preliminary investigation determined that Jones entered the home and went into the bedroom. Jones was then shot by the homeowner while burglarizing the home.
The investigation is just beginning, and while I am not a lawyer, it is my understanding that every homicide in Texas gets referred to a grand jury.
Still, self-defense is a human right.
