A domestic violence kidnapping was foiled by concealed carry. Suspects face attempted kidnapping, attempted murder and arson charges in Port St. Lucie
This also points up a big problem with the Left's desire to create gun-free zones.
According to the police report, Jose Tsu Zamora, 64, of North Miami, ambushed a former long-term girlfriend as she arrived for Sunday services. The victim had previously secured a domestic violence injunction against Zamora in March, and he was already wanted on an active warrant for violating that court order.
When the woman exited her vehicle, Zamora blocked her path, grabbed her, held a handgun against her body, and began dragging her toward his vehicle.
The woman dropped to the ground to resist. That is when 2 bystanders decided to take a hand.
Had it not been for these courageous citizens who stepped in and intervened, this kidnapping would have been successful. We do believe that the suspect's intent was to harm her,” said [Port St. Lucie Police Department Chief Leo] Niemczyk.
Port St. Lucie is on the Atlantic coast of Florida. It is about a 50 mile drive north of Palm Beach, or about a 90 mile drive north of Fort Lauderdale.
The problem of Gun Free Zones: New York is one of the Blue States that has made it illegal to be armed in a house of worship, as if no one has ever attacked a synagogue, or a church.
People with stalkers, like this woman who had an order of protection, are most vulnerable when they are on a known schedule at a known location: picking up and dropping off kids at school or daycare, going to and from work, and arriving at or leaving religious services. These are some of the places where liberals want to disarm everyone.
Gun Free Zones are really Defenseless Victim Zones, because the bad guys are not following your laws. This guy was willing to commit armed kidnapping, while violating a court order of protection. Exactly what law does the Left believe he will follow?
And the court order was only a piece of paper. It didn't stop this guy from trying to commit a crime. The two guys with guns did that.
The would-be, bad guy ran when confronted, but police caught up with him, and arrested him.

Hat tip to Gun Watch: Armed Samaritans Stop Attempted Kidnapping in Florida
Before 1987, it would have been unlikely two people in a church parking lot in Florida would have been armed and able to respond to a kidnapping by an armed man.
