Jessika Lindstrom from Geeks + Gamers brings us a not-too-surprising story. Nerdrotic Defeats Legacy News Outlets - Friday Night Tights Beats CNN, MSNBC, and Fox News in Prime Time
Friday Night Tights is a panel discussion on YouTube, hosted by Gary "Nerdrotic" Buechler that covers popular culture. They cover primarily movies, TV/Streaming shows, video games, with the rare foray into comic books. (Gary used to own a comic shop.)
The dominance of the Mainstream Media – or "dinosaur media," as WDW Pro calls it – is a thing of the past. A recent report by Yahoo News revealed that YouTubers like Nerdrotic are outperforming legacy news outlets Fox News, CNN, and MS Now (previously MSNBC). In his recent video, our own WDW Pro breaks down all the numbers, so please check out the video below!
It isn't just in entertainment media that the new Media (YouTube, Rumble, Odysee, etc.) are outshining the legacy outlets.
[Culture] Culture also points out that, in addition to Nerdrotic and other YouTubers outshining legacy media outlets, two YouTube-based movies are dominating major Hollywood productions like The Mandalorian and Grogu at the box office, along with the low-budget horror film Obsession. In other words, the fatigue with the mainstream does not end with the news; people are tuning out and are hungry for something more, wanting more interaction and authenticity.
Here is the WDW Pro video mentioned in the Geeks + Gamers article. CNN and MSNBC Ratings TOPPED by NERDROTIC on YouTube?! Fox News Too!
WDW Pro is mostly associate with That Park Place, and came out of the theme park review world, but that was then.
Friday Night Tights is every Friday at 4 PM eastern time, (they will be late) on Rumble and on YouTube and maybe elsewhere. While it streams at that time, you can find it on the channel at any time after the stream ends.
You can find Gary's new book, Waiting for Nerdrotic, detailing his lifelong fight with addiction and its consequences, and more, at Rippasend. (No affiliation or remuneration)
