In 1938, Nazi Germany enacted the Regulations Against Jews’ Possession of Weapons, stripping Jews of their right to own firearms. That decree did not come out of nowhere. It was built on years of registration laws and “common sense” restrictions. By the time it was enforced, the German Jewish population was defenseless. The consequences were catastrophic.
We know what happens when the state decides who needs a firearm. We know what happens when people are told to rely on the police or the government for protection. We know what it means when the powerful tell the weak to disarm for their own good.
