Self-Defense Is Legal in Florida

And even in Florida, cops (apparently) hate that. Charges dropped against man who fatally shot another in Miramar Walgreens

It was a stunning event, a gunfight inside a Miramar Walgreens store in the middle of the day, and now, another stunning turn of events: the man charged with murder in that February shooting has been freed.

Jamie Taylor went from jail to hugging his mom in a lawyer’s office.

“All charges, including homicide, manslaughter and accompanying charges, have been dismissed,” said Taylor’s lawyer, Andy Rier.

It's not clear why the cops were so hot to prosecute this guy. I'm sure that race didn't come into it, because cops are never prejudiced.

Miramar, Florida is about halfway between Miami and Fort Lauderdale in Broward County. On the east it shares a border with Hollywood, Florida, and on the west it backs up to the Everglades.

His attorney says the security camera video from inside the store corroborates Taylor’s version of events.

That video has not been released to the media.

He had a concealed carry permit. He had NO criminal record

Cops arrested him anyway, and he spent from Februrary to April in jail. Long enough to screw up his life.
