Last week I talked about concept albums still being produced in Europe, and then I got some (probably deserved) grief for featuring a 20-year-old album.
This week we have a song from a concept album from 2024, but it's by a Canadian Metal band. They're from British Columbia, if you want to be specific. I will say that they had to go to Austria to find a record label, because the record labels in North America are run by suits who don't like, or understand, Metal. So at least in one way, this album came out of Europe.
Here is what the Vancouver Sun had to say: Unleash the Archers releases its full power on new concept album Phantoma
The band’s 2020 album Abyss debuted in the No. 1 spot on the U.S. current hard music and top new artist charts and went on to collect that year’s Juno Award for metal/hard music album of the year.
To follow it up, the quintet dived into an AI-inspired concept that frontwoman and lyricist Brittney Slayes developed in 2021 before the impacts of this rapidly emerging technology were raising red flags all over the planet.
This song is "Ghosts In The Mist" by Unleash The Archers from their 2024 concept album Phantoma.
