Australian Home Destroyed, Charging EV Suspected Cause

They won't admit it was the EV, even though people said there were explosions coming from the garage, where the car was charging. A Current Affair: Young family forced to start from scratch after battery explosion guts home

Queensland paramedic Shani was working a run of the night shift as on Monday morning when she got a call that would scare any parent.

Her northern Gold Coast home had burst into flames while her husband Jard and young daughters Bonnie, Isobel and Piper were sleeping.

The description was horrifying.

It sounded like bombs were dropping from the sky, and then another explosion would go off, and it was just like it nearly was knocking us over when we're running out the house.

The whole house was engulfed in flame in a minute.

It spread throughout the house, burning almost all of their belongings, along with precious family heirlooms, including from Jared's late father.

The paramedics who work with the wife have set up a crowdfunding campaign to help the family out.

And while I shouldn't have to write this, I know how geographically challenged people are. Queesnland is the Australian state that is in the northeast corner of the country. The only city whose name you would (probably) recognize is Brisbane

Hat tip to MGUY Australia and his video Queensland: Kia EV DESTROYS family home

He wonders if Kia, the manufacturer of the electric vehicle in question, will be held accountable for the fire. That's a rhetorical question; the answer is no. Or maybe, "Hell no!"
