It is mean, or it is not fair, or something, to put criminals in jail. On federal parole for stolen machine gun case, man's charged with murdering 62-year-old on Thanksgiving - CWB Chicago
He was arrested for tossing a stolen machine gun from a car while speeding along an expressway in Chicago. U.S. District Judge Virginia Kendal sentenced him to 5 years in prison in May of 2021. He was out on parole.
He made an impassioned speech at sentencing for that crime about how he was going to turn his life around, for his kids. Yeah, not so much.
Currently on parole for that machine gun case, Hughes is back in custody, accused of shooting and killing a 62-year-old man on Thanksgiving afternoon.
Stolen gun. Machine gun. Color me shocked that he was sentenced to only 5 years. OK so I'm not that shocked. I would bet that the judge could have sent him away longer.
At least the judge in this case held him as a threat to the community.
So it is unfair to send bad guys to prison. How unfair is it to the family of Ignacio Mendiola, who died two days after Gad Huges shot him in the head? Why are the bleeding hearts never feeling bad for the victims of crime?
