Deputies were called to the scene of a shooting in the early morning hours on Sunday, 27 October.
Responding deputies arrived at the home to find 31-year-old Ruika Abdulrahman suffering from a gunshot wound on her arm.
Deputies provided first aid, and paramedics with Oakland Park Fire Rescue transported her to a local hospital. Her injuries were not life-threatening.
Oakland Park, Florida is a city in Broward County, Florida. It is nearly completely surrounded by Fort Lauderdale. When I first moved to Fort Lauderdale, I thought it was a neighborhood in that city.
A preliminary investigation revealed the incident was related to the burglary, and Abdulrahman was arrested.
Abdulrahman has since been charged with burglary of an occupied dwelling
The homeowner has not been arrested.
