Period Correct Weapons in the Video Game Red Dead Redemption 2

I love when entertainment properties take the time to get things right, when it comes to firearms. Why the Schofield Revolver From Red Dead Redemption 2 Is One of the Best Weapons In Any Rockstar Game

In the first place, the top-beak Schofield revolver is a classic in its own right. Then to add a correct model to a video game, and include period correct engraving... I wish Hollywood would pay such close attention.

I may have to play this game... I've been wanting a new computer with better graphics.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is arguably the biggest and most detailed game of the past decade. From how NPCs react and behave to the realistic environment, wildlife, and gunplay, it is the perfect open-world video game.

But we're here to talk about guns.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is renowned for being realistic and detailed to a great extent that most other studios wouldn’t bother to try. Previous games made by the same developer were praised for pushing the boundaries and this instalment is no different, especially regarding the gunplay.

Initially, most players were taken aback since they were not accustomed to the weaponry and firearms available at the time: mostly single-action rifles, revolvers, and shotguns.

This is also the chief protagonist's weapon, (I don't think you can call him a hero) most of the other guns in the game are black.

There are other examples. In the movie True Lies, Arnold is seen reloading his pistol while on the run. Keanu Reeves trained extensively with firearms to be able to do tactical reloads for the John Wick series of movies. On the animation front, Ghost in the Shell and Cowboy Bebop took that time as well.

  1. RDR2 is an amazing game. I'd highly encourage anybody who's interested in gaming to play it. as for the comment as to the blueing not being black enough - you can customize the guns in the game, from nickle (although it's not really "shiny" in game) to black.
