Clayton Cramer is up first with the Most Unexpected Government Report Ever

24.7% of Colorado firearms homicides 2016-2920 are Justifiable Self-defense.

Flopping Aces - Bragg’s Bungled Case: Report Exposes Flaws in Trump Indictment

A report titled “Lawfare: How the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office and a New York State Judge Violated the Constitutional and Legal Rights of President Donald J. Trump.” was put together by the Committee on the Judiciary and the Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government today. It’s a deep dive into the 34-count criminal indictment against Trump, announced by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg back in April 2023.

The Other McCain - ‘Get Money,” R.I.P.

Jefferson was charged with the armed robbery of a Foot Locker store in 2009, when he was 19, and at the subsequent trial, testified in his own defense. The prosecution asked for and received permission from the judge to ask Jefferson about his “get money” tattoos. On appeal, Jefferson claimed this was irrelevant and prejudicial, to which the Texas appeals court replied: “LOL! GFY!” (Or words to that effect.)

Glenn Harlan Reynolds - Fly The Plane: Reflections on the late Judge Gilbert S. Merritt, and on life.

This is my contribution, The Judge as Teacher, to a symposium in memory of the judge I clerked for, Gilbert S. Merritt of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.

Professor David Yamane at Gun Culture 2.0 - Full Recordings of Free Public Webinar on Ten Essential Observations on Guns in America (2)

This past spring, I offered a free public webinar version of my Sociology of Guns seminar at Wake Forest University. I’m now making full recordings (presentation plus Q&A) of each session available on my Light Over Heat YouTube channel

Again from The Other McCain - Jon Stewart: ‘Get on Board or Shut the F*** Up Is Not a Particularly Compelling Pro-Democracy Bumper Sticker’

We have all witnessed “hatecraft” in action. Whatever the issue — climate change, transgenderism, “Palestine,” etc. — to disagree with the Left is to invite denunciation as a proponent of hate, complicit in “stochastic terrorism” and so forth. To dissent about The Current Thing is to be not merely wrong, but dangerous. What was the pretext, after all, for Taylor Lorenz doxxing Chaya Raichik? Because “LibsOfTikTok” was allegedly responsible for people getting death threats.

Pixy Misa at Ambient Irony - Daily News Stuff 11 July 2024: Megabels Edition

Twitter does not owe its thousands of fired paperweights any additional severance. (Tech Crunch)

All the laid-off employees received at least three months of severance pay, more than satisfying the legal requirements.

They sued anyway, apparently on the basis that they were useless and couldn't find employment anywhere else.

Adaptive Curmudgeon - Happy Camper: Part 5: A Sublime Night

While I was eating steak, I couldn’t help but think about Chuck Schumer. If you aren’t aware, the dude tried to tweet that he was grilling on Father’s Day. It was one of those “see, I’m just like you deplorable voters” photos that should be no big deal. Yet it just looked off. He wound up looking like such a freaky weird space lizard that the people mocked him. He eventually deleted the tweet.
