Vancouver's Electric Fire Truck Has Problems

Not just that it is more expensive than a diesel truck, by a lot. Vancouver's new electric fire truck sidelined by leak | CTV News

Vancouver's brand-new, $1.8-million fire truck was in service for less than a month before it was sidelined for repairs.

CTV News has learned the all-electric Rosenbauer RTX has a leaky water tank.

Since it is brand new, the repairs are covered under warranty.

At a cost of $1.8 million, it’s $300,000 to $500,000 more than a new diesel engine, but Fry said there are huge environmental and health benefits to an electric truck.

Pay no attention to the Lithium mining in South America, or the nickle mining in Indonesia, or the Cobalt mining (and the human-rights abuses) in The Republic of the Congo. Those places are far away, and so not important to Canada. (Hat tip to Small Dead Animals: We Don’t Need No Flaming Sparky Cars.

And here's hoping that the fire truck doesn't have any of the same problems that the electric busses in Canada have.
