He suffered a failure of the victim-selection process. Maybe he didn't think that people in Deep Blue Washington state would be armed. Attempted break in at Northeast Tacoma home ends in gunfire | Tacoma News Tribune
Police said the man suspected of trying to break into a Northeast Tacoma home was armed with a firearm and pointed it toward the home’s occupants before he was shot by the homeowner.
The 52-year-old man is suspected of attempted burglary, Tacoma Police Department spokesperson Det. William Muse said in an email to The News Tribune. Muse said the man broke one of the home’s windows and tried to manipulate a door to get inside.
He was taken to a local hospital and is expected to live to face charges.
The two men knew each other, Muse said, but it’s unclear how.
Proving once again that just because you know someone, that doesn't mean they can't be a threat.
The homeowner was not arrested because self-defense, in addition to being a human right, is your legal right in the state of Washington. (Hat tip to GUN WATCH.)
